This is not really a basic intro. Ur using too much jargon and 'lingo'. If this a Mixer Basics Vid, u should have better lighting on the board and better close-ups would be helpful for those who are trying to learn this for the 1st time. U should spend more time on each channel and focus on what each knob does. Some people don't know what a "tweeter" is, yet ur assuming your audience already knows what it means. This is a good vid for those who already have some understanding but not for nubes.
can you use a preamp to add channels to the main mixer. Like having the channels from the preamp put out to only one input channel in the mixer? would there be a quality difference in the sound? lol idk if its an obvious question, but I'm pretty new to this stuff.
@wrmaplpi What a bummer, I edit with Sony Vegas Pro 9 HD. Are you any good at rigging up the electrical distribution portion? I'm trying to wire a power box with two leads so I can plug one into one room and another into another room ensuring two separate circuits in case someone kicks a cord or we blow a breaker. But I did not know if I need some sort of a diode to direct the current one way.
@SophicMedia Thanks for watching. I use the inserts on the mixer. You have to use whats called TRS cables. "Tip, Ring, Sleeve". Which are essentially stereo cables. One end is a single 1/4" cable, the other end has a Y with two 1/4" ends. The single end goes into the insert of the mixer, the "Tip" goes to the "in" of the compressor (or effect processor), and the "ring" goes to the out of the compressor. I hope this helps. Thanks again for watching.
@joab302016 Well, it depends on what your needs are. The mixer you're using has some of the basic stuff like, eq, limiter, some effects ect. You're already off to a good start. You'll need to add on things like an eq for your monitors, a compressor, power conditioners, the list could go on forever. For small setups you're fine with what you have. You should look into getting at least one subwoofer, amp, and a crossover. I hope this helped. Thanks again for watching.
How did you hook up your sub mixer to the main mixer?

@JustAdam112 That video was from a while ago so I think I had the main stereo outs to one the stereo inputs of my other mixer.

@shelbylee40 It cost me $350.00. If you can find them, they're less than $275.00. It's the Alesis iMultimix 8 USB.

@pinkfloydeffect Yes, very funny... The software that I was using at the time to upload this stuff didn't have the HD capabilities.

@pinkfloydeffect I'm using Pinnacle Studios HD now. So far so good...
Sorry, I really have no experience with power distribution.
