This is soo cute! I have been barrel racing my whole life but I didn't start out on full size horses I started out on pony's and that is a great horse. And the kid is very good at riding! No matter what horse you have barrel racing isn't easy.

This goes to show what you can accomplish at that age if you have horse riding in your blood and if you have been around them your whole life. I was doing similar stuff at his age but my family did a less dangerous sport still. I was put on a 5 year old arabian saddleseat mare....bad decision for my family. But wow did that teach me how to hang on to a horse for dear life O.o

Hey I just wanted to say Zach in one hell of a little rider. But I was there the other night when he got bounced not bucked but bounced off at Double JJ's. I think you should try to put a back cinch on the mare if you can to keep his saddle from bouncing so much b/c he's so light. Tell him I'm a HUGE fan and can't wait to compete against him again sometime soon!

When a horse goes that fast and you only weigh 40lbs you will get thrown around.  This was his first fast run, as you can see he gets better the more he runs

Thanks for your comment :) We have owned this horse since he was 3. Zach's dad trained this horse when it was a colt. He is a very good honest horse but as with any 1-D horse there not alway that automatic...Zach is a pretty good rider.

Thats funny you mention Talmage we ride with him at some shows. This is his dad's old horse, his dad won alot of championships on this horse and still to this day holds many local arena records. Zachary has come a long way in his riding, last year he was running 22's and this year he's in the 1-D.

Keep in mind that he is only 7 years old and runs 1-D times. In barrel racing you do not ride with a strate back (that is for english pleasure)
