  • A lot of slums were cleared out and people relocated to the outer skirts of town. Apartments, condoes and houses are being built like crazy. Right now there is a shortage of apartments but not for too long. The current shortage is the reason for the high rent. The large number of Apartments being built should create a glut of apartments, this will eventually force rent down. Angola is investing in agriculture, so the country is less dependent on imports, this should lower the price of food.

  • 3:52 ...that's a pig mama crossing a street with its lil piglets...and you consider this poverty? Hahaha.

  • The world's most expensive/best paid?

U.S. $200 paid for each live fish weighing 0.3 kg! Translate this art: (fvn.no/okonomi/article907338.ece) This will be paid in Norway for delivery of wrasse-fishes to the salmon farming of fish! These fishes eliminates the need for chemicals and antibiotics in salmon farming, because they eat lice (Gyrodactilus Salaris) directly from the skin of salmon. .

See 2 friends diving among this kind of fish at the Norwegian coast:

    DIVING IN BISHOP HARBOR

  • what'z the song name that begin at 3:30? hlp plzz

  • corrupt and disturbingly poor. but a beatiful country with a proud and happy people.

  • Angola keep moving on up....we are rooting for you....love from kenya!!

  • @simbakafiri Rooting is admirable but futile as an internationally supported criminal regime is forcefully in POWER,there will be "SHAM" elections in 2012-elections are continuously promised and subsequently cancelled when the set date is approaching near and those who dare to express their dislike of this illogical negative practice are either KILLED,TORTURED OR BOTH! Angola keeps going DOWN.

  • Now the worlds most expensive city...

I would have thought Tokyo or Oslo

But apparently Luanda is at the top

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 yes unbelievable it's most expensive city in the world, Tokyo is number 2, but was no. 1 last year. i wonder how poor people live there and how much income do they get?

  • @WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 Pathetic!

  • Most of these comments are clearly of an ignorant nature....As it is clear that this is not constructive criticism, I can see that people are judging without facts to weigh the pros and cons.....It is the main characteristic of ignorance...to filter information and deny the knowledge any other that could be constructive to the topic....I guess I cant do much...but I feel sorry for all of you.....may the light of knowledge hit you right in the face.....

  • Angolans remains poor, with a third of the population relying on subsistence farming. Safe drinking water is still in short supply, and infant mortality rate is among the worst ranked in the world.

It is a country of contrasts where poverty and opulence live side by side. There are shanties all over, but you will spot a Porsche and hawkers on the road.

There is only one mall and the price of items in a normal supermarket is twice or thrice that of its equivalent in South Africa or Kenya.

  • Never mind 60 per cent of Angola’s 17.3 million population - as per 2009 estimates - lives in blighting poverty, with most of it surviving on less than $2 (Sh178) a day, according to the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP.) Despite its extensive oil and gas resources, diamonds, hydroelectric potential and fertile agricultural land, life expectancy in one of the fastest growing economies in the world, is 39 years.

  • there cant be true progress is run by the president family like a mafia.

  • but still if youre afraid of investing in angola or mozambique dont be cause the portuguese colonys where always different, they where always much more peaceful and kind then other countrys like congo etc, war in angola was because its richest country in africa russia supported one side and cia with south africa other, one side was totally smashed so war and fighters that where born from anti-colonial communist ideals are dead, in the end there was only 800 fighters against our presence there

  • i hope angola will be ok so then the 1.2 million niggers here can get the fuck out so we can breed, by the way 23 portuguese where expelled last week cause they didnt had their visas in order, while we have here million blacks sucking us dry living illegaly, by the way dont forget that angola has oil because we got the part of congo that has all the oil not even that you fucking ppl can at least say thanks its called cabinda an they wanted to continue portuguese, angola didnt, so suck that

  • This is the best Africa has to offer? pretty disappointing

  • U young buttt knows the real origin of the "mathematic"

    AFRICA!!! cunfused???

  • Praia é que tá a bater

  • I wonder however how this shithole can be one of the most expensive cities on earth? where all the money comes from? and where does it go?

  • @dumbnetworks

The country is being rebuilt after years of civil war pushed by outsiders arming some crazy person name Savimbi. Army finally found him and killed him like the US killed Osama, after that the civil war immediately ended. Now that's all behind them rebuilding efforts have started & there are a lot of foreign workers from all over helping in the rebuilding efforts. So as a result there is a high demand for apartments for these workers which is driving up the rent in the city.

  • @alwilson312 interesting, thanks for the insight

  • chill dudes we all came from africa anyway, black white red whatever...

  • @ERASER and HATERS: Pig-nigger albino a%%es who will die because of his/her own "inventions," which Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Arabians [Afro-Asians], Indians), Africans (Egyptians [Blacks/"Arabs"], etc), and various other tribes/nations helped your lying a%%es since time immemorial create...Most of Europe is unarable and polluted, so fk you; you are only a parasite in this world. Without Africa and other indigenous lands, there wouldn't be any raw materials for these fkn electronics.

  • How can this shithole be the most expensive? This is insane!

  • lÕl_anÿ_gÚYs_wÀÑt_tÒ_chÀt_with_më

  • Anywhere were there aren't any white devils infesting the place is a good thing. I can't wait to visit...

  • @TheKemian The whole city was made by those white devils, you may not like it. Whites taught those nigras the difference between shit and food but some still choose to eat shit, it's a nigger thing!

  • Luanda is a shithole - it is full of drugs, guns and criminals.

Not a safe place at all and the cost of everything is astronomical!

The people are nice but I would never go there again in my life.

  • Luanda linda um dia ir la conhecer;)

  • Looks so beautiful.. . .

  • Angola its good for people with money, a lot of work is been done there but that work is not for the natives, it's for emigrants that are going there.

As coisas vão continuar a ficar melhor.

  • Not New York, not London, not Paris...Luanda!

    what a BS...

  • Fuck people talking shit about Angola. It's a beautiful country with beautiful people. It has bad parts, but what country doesn't? I'm from the US, and I've been to the worst parts of South Africa and Botswana where people showed me love. I love African countries, my fellow Africans, and I am proud to be of African heritage!

  • What's the name of the 1st song? Can anyone help me pls?

WE NEED CHANGE. WE NEED CHANGE.

  • Angola e independente desde 1975. O governo nao fez foda nenhuma. Ainda continuam a dormir. LUANDA - A CIDADE MAIS SUJA DE AFRICA, CAPITAL DE ANGOLA, A CAPITAL MAIS SUJA I A MAIS CARA DO PLANETA.

Nao faz sentido nenhum porque continuamos a respirar poeira i vivendo na merda.

  • my neighbourhood @ 2:03

  • @google1969 mesmo? haha nao me digas!

  • @karlos7eberl manda a tua mae cadela sugar meu cacete

  • Agriculture? NO!

All we are dependant is in oil and diamonds. Many young ones rush through university dreaming in doing a course related to the oil or mining industry but in the end, unless you have loads of cash you cannot get in...

I wish it was better place, I wish people would have at least the same chance as in Europe or America. But instead we are building a sand castle in the shore... Angolans like to show off... that's all vanity

pure vanity (I mean the rich ones of course...)

  • All the nice pictures and everything make it seem like you are living in paradise... but way far from that. If I was a foreigner I would be afraid to invest there cause you never know until when the country will be stable. If it wasn't for the ROTTEN and CORRUPT government surely you could say that Luanda would be like in pictures, maybe a bit less luxurious but everyone living more or less equally. You cannot live elsewhere than in the cities, the countries is filled with land mines, turism?NO

  • @bandit2xx the government is corrupt... that is right, living in a paradise...no, toooo far from that yet, filled with land mines yet... well it´s obvious you know... every great country has started somewhere, you just gotta pick few history books and find out yourself . for instance, look at europeans, they had to do alot of robbery, and still in order to maintin a decent standard life for their people. So do not invest in my country , keep your money, invest in wherever the hell you come from.

  • @bandit2xx WTF! Men i live in luanda! I have a perfect life here and i dnt see poverty everywhere! Oh and tell me how is the government corrupt?? U little faggot!

  • @WhizNikka4TheRecord so podes tar a brincar...

  • FROSTY,

I can accept your dissatisfaction with the cost of things, and the lack of government support on basic infrastructures. The people are surviving under current circumstances and previous influences dictated to them by the civil war. However, you dont sound very articulated by blaming the local weather Sir. Under the right circumstances, Luanda is a very welcoming city, but not now. You shouldve gone there in the late 60s, early 70s and Ill bet you wouldnt want to leave it.

    Farewell

  • @cilvalization

1st of all let me thank you for your civic manners ;)

My grand parents are Angolans, and according to them, you're quite right about the 60's and 70's having been great and welcoming (I wans't yet born then btw), but that was during the colonialism. They also say it used to be a bit cooler, and is now hotter becouse of all the exhaust fumes from an excessive accumulation of vehicles and power generators in the city. And the air is dusty/dirty coz no1 cleans up like they should.

  • O governo so quer o seu, e o resto que se liche. Angola ainda vai passar muitas mais. Proflecram, deve viver noutro planeta. Vosse anda sego?...

  • This is the worst city I've ever been to (in the world). It's hot, humid, extremely dusty, dirty and if you don't have something Angolans want, you'll get discriminated, especially by the rich.

It's also unreasonably expensive! There's no other place where things cost sooo much and have basically no quality whatsoever.

There are blackouts, and lack of water averagely every 2 days.

The government built 4 stadiums for ACN 2010 all at once, but won't fix sanitation, electricity and water!!

  • It's a pity: Look at the President and his family and how rich they are...... where did Eduardito get his wealth from? The socialist farce turned into a capitalist nightmare....... I'm sorry povo Angolano: a luta continua, a vitoria nunca sera!

    Amigo do povo Angolano

  • Quanda desilusao,pobres africanos...

  • if you look at the end of the video, they got it wrong.,70% or poor, the rest is rich, middle income and the worker class.i believe the the poverty rate has gone down a bit,but if more jobs are created it will happen more so since the income level of the nation is among the fastest rising in the world.

  • Please tell employment status in Luanda, Is in private sector open for indian manpower ?

  • hold up is that in fucking africa

  • So what´s the idea that you have from africa?...

everybody living in the jungle fighting with lions all day??...

  • i didnt know the countries

  • dont tell me that you think Africa is a country too?...

  • noo i just didnt know this country

  • chinese built those building and infrastructures

  • That is not true.

Yes, China did contribute towards the infastracture but they didn't build the majority of the infastructure.

Why is it so hard for people to believe that Africans can build their own cities?!?

I know for a fact that at 0:49 of the video, the two glass buildings were built by Sonangol, which is an Angolan based company. It is mostly owned by the government.
