  • Greate review! Clearly the new Jumbo is better.

  • I Find Your Videos Very Infomative ....I Wish I Had Found Your Videos Before I Bought My Key Chain Camera......It's A Piece Of Crap . It's A DVR-410 ...Box Say's Made by Swann .

Any Way I Thought The Party Streamer Made The Video Much Less Boring :-) LOL

  • adds started at 5:39 seconds.... WTF

  • Definitely not boring! You're very funny haha love the dry humor.

  • Love your humour...lol.

  • You're not boring. You are quite funny too.

  • u r not boring! i love your reviews! they are very helpful!!!

  • Will the jumbo heat up as fast as the old #11? My old #11 tends to heat up fairly quickly and I only get half of the footage I really wanted as the camera shut itself off. FYI, the camera is mounted on my helmet to record my karting session, which is usually on a hot afternoon.

  • On one of your other videos someone made a comment saying you sounded like someone or other, I forget who but I remember thinking you don't sound anything like the person they said you did.

You sound more like Ringo starr when he used to narrate Thomas the Tank Engine.

  • Hey techmoan I just purchased this camera and am wondering which MicroSD card class I should buy? I know you say class 4 but what about the higher classes such as class 10?, will it help with the image quality or is it a waste of my time.

    Thanks alot.

  • I don't know, whether I skipped or missed the part, on which you were showing how it looks in disguise, but this is something I am actually interested in. Since that kinda is the intention I want to use it for? =)

  • ^^ I think you're doing a pretty great job!!

  • could this be used as a dash or car camera? if so what would be the recommended placement for maximum views.

also, another question-- what is your favorite car camera?

  • Great device but.... It has to be used on his flat position and never vertical (placed on the side of motorcycle helmets).

Clips files eventually will be sideways on a PC (like watching tv lying down on sofa), unless there's a way of rotating this clips files 90 degrees (left or right) on PC like we all do with pictures!

By way, you not boring.... the items are, good job.

    Thankfully MrAnjosam

  • @MrAnjosam The problem with rotating 16:9 video is that it goes narrow and looks odd.

  • Your reviews are GREAT! Thank You!! Boring?? I don't think so!! Saved me buying the wrong camera! If I wanted to be bored I'd watch tv.

  • Lol fantastic response to the turd who says your boring - hilarious! Informative and to the point - ignore the bellends

  • i know i know i know i know i know i know i know i know

    YOU DONT NOTHIN!

  • I've already received my keychain cam as of 1/9/12 and placed order on 1/3/12!! I was surprised cause I was told from shipper it would b late February. It was shipped USPS from hongkong to California.

  • The location of the LED wouldn't be a problem if you were left handed

  • @techmoan Can you replace the battery on this camera by just plugging in the connectors without soldering like you would on the #16? Does it also have that longer battery charging function that the #16 has. Which allows the battery to last longer without burning out and having to replace the battery?

  • @dagr8al No this is an old model, all those things were introduced as new features for the #16 in December 2011.

  • @techmoan thanks for an excellent review, I'm sold!! Just recently ordered mine for a rc heli cam can't wait for it to b delivered. $43 free ship and included bicycle handlebar mount w/Package Includes:

1 pc x Mini HD Key Chain Video Camera (Not include the Memory Card)

1 pc x Bicycle handlebar mount holder(it can fix the cam on the bicycle)

1 pc x our company dedicated car charger

2 pcs x Magic stick ( it's easy to paste whe

  • Parcel Bomb!? Most likely harmless, but even then, taken way too far.

If it were on my videos, I'd get the police involved and I'd insist on their intervention no matter about the jokiness of it all. Threats like that are actually criminal offenses.

You may remember that knobjockey who got arrested for twittering about blowing up Robin Hood airport the other year just cos they were snowed in. Give this dick a taste of that medicine.

Looks like you have his real name too! ;-)

  • best informative review ever. just stop complaining about the complaints (boring?!).

great job :-) (just bought it).

  • Excellent "boring" video! Thanks a lot! Profesional review! Your voice sounds like the ones on the science tv channels. Bravo! Pay no more atention to the bastards who comment just because they're short on drugs.

  • Hey where did you get the y3000 camera?

on ebay, i search fro it but didn't get it!

  • you do boring so well, it's exactly what i would expect from a channel called techmoan, i could listen to you all day (on that note, where did my last hour and a half go?)

  • Whats your favorite Spy Cam Techmoan?

  • how well do you think this would work on a motorbike? would it be hard to mount as its an unusual shape or could u just use the velcro to put it on your helmet/tank/handlebars etc. i was considering getting the rd32 but after your review decided against it. should i get one of these or can you recommend something better?

  • @DaN12464 You would want to put it on your helmet, anywhere else would vibrate too much. I've got three cameras in for review from the people who made the RD32, but they will all cost quite a bit more than this one. At the moment, this gives you the best value for money.

  • Hi techmoan, I dont know if youve been asked this. but did you have a go at putting a pin hole in the top near microphone to improve the sound? or would that make it susceptable to wind?

  • @DiyEcoProjects I didn't, but others have, and they report that it worked well. Wind noise will always be a problem, but would be no worse than on any other camera like this.

  • I'm enjoying going through alot of your videos, and don't find them at all boring. I haven't skipped through one yet.

Keep up the good work. I keep putting the products your reviewing on my wish list....

  • What's the differene between the different classes of sd cards?

  • @LeMieux250 The bigger the number, the faster the card, the faster the card the more data that can be written to it in a second. Too slow a card combined with lots of data being produced from an HD camera will result in the card failing to keep up and the end footage will miss out some of the 30 frames of video produced per second - resulting in jerky video.

  • @Techmoan Thanks :)

  • So then that means the Jumbo version is the best keychain spycam, i like the car alarm look along with the Toyota logo. Very nice camera and excellent review.

  • That I can "charge the battery from any USB port and retrieve data" is why I purchased the Jumbo HD 808 720p H.264 camera reviewed here. Thank you for a comprehensive review of the many models available.

  • Really useful video - definately not boring! I wish I had seen this before just buying the #3 model. Brilliantly produced videos.

  • hi again, Techmoan! I am ready to purchase the product now! Ca you verify that this one has a date stamp on it: Item number: 160688685803 from eletoponline365

If so, does it have the correct time and date already? If it does not, I believe you already have the solution to that. ;)

    Thanks a lot!

  • @aZkiLL986 You can always ask the seller to send you one without the date and time stamp on it.

  • @Techmoan thanks Tech! I have received a reply from him/her already. Still waiting for the package.

  • Dear Techmoan. Might you (re)view the HD828#11 16GB DV Camera currently on eBay? Put a smile on.

  • @karlkwhite I've noticed it - but it appears just to be an HD808#11 or Jumbo 808 in a different case. If I'm right the quality will be identical. I can't really review the same camera three times - twice was pushing it a bit. But thanks for the suggestion though.

  • I am using a sandisk 8gig micro sd. Thanks for any feedback you can offer!

  • @deepstudy Oh, and as far as software - if you are asking about editing, I use a Mac and the built in iMovie software. I'm not up to date on PC editing.

  • Great Job! I recently bought one for use as a dashcam. Drivers in Seattle are terrible and I have had too many close calls. This should help me out if it ever comes to your word against theirs. 2 Questions: For a complete novice on video software, what would you recommend? I would like to have the ability to pull out a section of video within the whole drive time. I am also wondering why when I review my video (20 minute average commute) it tends to be very jerky and not the least bit smooth.

  • @deepstudy Do you think the problem with the Jerkyness might actually be with your PC playing back 720p .h264 video. Everyone else who has mentioned the same thing has found the problem is with their PC, not the camera. Make sure the files are copied to your PC (rather than trying to play them from the card) then try some different playback software - Quicktime, VLC etc

  • my jumbo 808 has problems with the image when the battery is running out...

looks like have interference on image when the battery is low

    any else has notice that?

    sry my english

  • Great review. Just keep doing them, no need for crackers, but the comment on the convertible was fun

  • would the 720 x 480 Multi-function Spy Camera Key on tmart be considered the jumbo 808 or is it a fake?

  • Hey Techmoan, btw awesome video reviews really really helpfull. One quick question which make of micro sd chip would you recommend to get with this Jumbo camera for the best quality and space?

    Thanks very much :D

  • Priceless, made me howl with laughter. Wonderful response. Those of us who watch (and subscribe) to your videos do so because we value the honest information you provide. You have a definite "presentation style" - but that's just the way you do these things. Ignore that guy and keep up the good work.

  • I believe you can measure dropped frames using avidemux. I know you can with virtualbox, but I see you're a macfag, and I don't know if it works on mac.

  • i don't think your boring i love your videos

  • Excellent Video Review!

The reason is because you actually compare it with other cam and also gives right information compared to some Auction site like Yahoo Auction Japan, which lots of these cameras are explained in wrong information.

I needed right review like yours.

    Thanks from Japan.

  • Job well done.

  • You have the best reviews on YT as a person with a technical degree I can say you are not in the least bit dull you answer questions as I think of them. Usually the great thing about this jumbo is it really looks like a car remote the older one looks like the remote to the old cheapo alarms depending on the car you own you would rather look the part I own a prius this is about the size of my prius key. You were driving on the wrong side the road that is dangerous JK. Ron Paul 2012

  • 5:10 says FAT which can only store 4Gb segments NTFS can store much larger files :)

  • 1:05 no not boring, just not aManic like some Nutters on YT keep the goog vids comming

  • Well done, excellent review. Your clips are not boring at all. I have some questions. Can I use it for FPV system as camera? Can it send live image by cable to transmitter & at same time records the video? If so does the quality of image reduce? I notice it fade in strong lighting condition like turning to the sun. Does image quality improve by using filters? Thanks

  • @farflyer No unfortunately there is no AV out function on this camera, so you can't do live monitoring. I haven't tried any filters, it would be difficult to mount anything like that to this camera.

  • I would have liked a Choc Ice at 6:52 please!!!

  • @busog97641 Yes "Stop me an buy one," I thought

  • is strange you get washed out colors in the old 808 in this video, in your other video review of the old 808 it looks as good as the jumbo

  • @wallaguest1 I think I just had a bit of a dirty lens on the old 808. It probably got splashed by some water during one of my tests.

  • I quite like your reviews as they are! I've gone through most of your videos now and I always find something that makes me laugh or amuses me greatly. I suppose people who are used to trivial information find anything useful "boring".

  • You never give the weight of these mini cams, I fly RC aircraft and that would be very useful to know.

    Great reviews

    Peter

  • @MrSpeedy01 I eventually added this info into my review of the KGB spy cam. 808#11 16g, Jumbo 30g, KGB 40g

  • mine has just arrived today! very pleased with it - but do you know how to put it into webcam mode? I can't seem to get it to work...Great review though! I will be putting mine on my rc plane and taking some footage soon, once my memory card has arrived

  • you might be a bit boring to some people but i like what you do, keep it up.

have you done a review on the HD HERO GO PRO???

  • Your reviews are very useful. Thank you.

  • Hahaha, nice pimping of your "boring" reviews. Now it's a lot les boring.

No kidding. Nice review again. I just ordered the 808 #11 and can't wait to make shots on my Yamaha Fazer 1000. Just a nice sugestion. Try using the air drone once. I think you'l like it!

    Keep up the good testing!

  • That was funny !Thank you!

    And thanks for the videos

    Have a GOOD ONE

  • I see clearly the improved clarity of both sound and sight of the Jumbo, but I like the form and disguise of the #11 keycam. The guy with the "boring" comment was boorish, yet better boring than boorish, and you were neither:)

  • Some people don't seem to comprehend the difference between "boring" and "deadpan humour". Excellent reviews, nicely voiced and shot.

  • the first bit was amazing, awesome deadpan humour!

  • how does the weight compare to the older hd 808 camera? (for rc planes for instance)

  • Definitely you are not boring, your comments are pure information about specific device.

Keep up the good work and don't be distracted with such unfounded comments!

  • Best Reviews !!!!

Can you do Poseidon Waterproof 720P HD review?

Many videos but no review :(

  • @MarttttinB52 Unfortunately I won't be reviewing the Poseidon - although I've got something much better that has just turned up in the post. My review will follow in a couple of weeks time.

  • just got it today, great little camera! thanks for the great review and instructions for the timeset. can you let us know when they fix the bug on non timestamp 50 min recording please

  • "... your thumb obscures the light..." Unless you're left-handed!

  • I am definitely gonna get this one for myself!!! I'm planning to, somehow, mount it onto my helmet to record vid while riding around the Metro.

I hope it gets delivered promptly. How long does it take to be delivered? am located in the Philippines.

  • @aZkiLL986 They are usually very quick with delivery (10 days to the UK)

  • I really enjoy your videos. Do you know if it would be possible to get an adaptor that would allow you to operate the camera using an ac outlet instead of a car battery? Thnks.

  • @funsenemy Yes....just get a USB charger plug and plug the supplied USB cable into that

  • i do wonder about one thing about you techmoan, how do you cut your nails so low? i can never get mines that low without hurting myself.

  • I bought the Jumbo 808, hopefully it will get delivered today! how long does it take for you to get the items you buy from HK? im in japan so it should only take a couple of days. thanks always for your videos!

  • Can you record while its connected to the AAA battery charge? Also, looks like you may need to clean the lens on the 808, that happened to mine, got a bit washed out, once I cleaned the lens it looked good as new

  • @maha77 You are right on both counts - I'm pretty sure I need to clean the 808 and you can charge and record at the same time.

  • Andrew Eustace is a DOUCHE. Techmoan is NOT boring!

  • @maha77 I Agree,

The reviewer told me absolutely everything I wanted to know about these cameras.

I have an original 808 #11, and was considering getting a 808 non hd one, as a cheap back up. bu tI wont, becasue the sound recording isnt as good either.

And in my opinion, the jumbo HD is a bit big...

So I may just get anothre original 808 #11.

  • Ya man u idots his reviews r mean like u r accent by the way man keep up the gud wrk.

  • Hello, James May!

  • lol yeah that did the trick

  • I was Hoping for a Popper at the end of the video-

    Great review--Thanks

  • I like your videos and they are very helpful to me.

  • Another precise and professional review which is greatly appreciated. Boring simply doesnt enter the equation but your humorous response to those remarks do which made me chuckle. I like many others I imagine rely on your in-depth reviews to make decisions on whether to buy or not? so please keep up the good work sir..I would hope that you receive financial reward for these?

  • the British accent sort of gives the review an intellectual air about it.

  • thanks for livening up the video lol...good tech specs and reviews, as always. many thanks.

  • Your not boring. Your voice reminds me of John Peel, and he was as cool as the day is long! ;o). Great reviews, nice to see what a product is like before buying. Cheers.

  • “Boring”!? What, you're not at all boring. Your reviews are perfect. Exactly what we need to know: factual, no nonsense, well edited, and very well presented in my opinion. You sound a lot like John Peel (possibly the most highly acclaimed British DJ ever). John Peel was NOT boring and neither are you. Anyone who thinks a hardware review should be “fun and entertaining” is obviously not seriously interested in the hardware and should probably be watching some kind of drivel like The Gadget Show!

  • Maybe not boring, but that british accent is really good at putting us to sleep.

  • @heroineworshipper

Better than being constantly shouted and bawled at with 200 words per seconds by the other idiots on TV etc. Nope the pace and delivery of the content here by techmoan is perfect; he gives the exact amount of info needed at the right time, so you hear and digest it fully first time without getting a headache. Excellent reviews!

  • who is the most trusted person to buy this from ebay.....? because one of ma friends ordered a one from eletech086 and he didn't receive it......! anyway thanks for your review .

  • @varuna256 There is only one seller with a number of store names. eletoponline365.

  • Your fingernails are improving.

  • @SpheredShadow It depends on how much stress I've had to deal with in the days proceeding each video. I was considering wearing latex gloves - but that might be a bit creepy.

  • @Techmoan O_O Don't do that! LOL!

  • @SpheredShadow I recently got an (old style) 808's from eletoponline365 to replace a lost one and for some reason the new one's led gives makes all the right flashes but there isn't always a video file on the card at the end of it and if there is it's usually only a few seconds long. Any ideas?

  • Whoops, sorry SpheredShadow my last comment wasn't meant to be addressed to you.

  • Are you still alive techmoan?

  • @ecouriercouk I'm still around - slowly putting another video review together.

  • Your accent is perfect for review videos.

  • @josepherader That's rather convenient - thanks old chap.

  • @josepherader

His voice always reminds me of my mates father, the sports broadcaster John Helm which is a good thing for me.

  • The party popper thingie was so hilarious, I actually laughed out loud!

  • Hi great vids thanks and far from boring so ignore who ever said that! Any chance you couldndo a vid on the different memory cards speeds etc? Please

  • Take no notice of that Andrew Austace moron, your videos are far from boring, they are excellent and and great source of interesting info. Thanks for all your hard work reviewing

  • Lol sorry I have spell check I meant to say you are the most professional to me

  • I don't think your boring. I think you have one of the most progreso NSA

  • Hi. Thanks for all of your very interesting and entertaining details. I learned a lot that I was questioning about my GoPro and the sputtered effects I found when I used the .mov type of recording with the Adobe Premier that I have. I have to convert the .mov to .avi in order to do any editing. I lost that and now in the market for another. So here I am. Q: What type of player are you using for the .mov video from the jumbo keychain hd cam? Does it edit? Did you have to convert?

  • @squareglow I'm using Macs, and they just love .movs, no need to convert. I edit everything in iMovie and they'll play back in Quicktime etc.

On a PC, you could try playing in VLC, but im afraid my PC editing knowledge is very out of date now.

  • "So Hopefully that's done the trick." LOVED it. Morons with short attention spans are often bored, carry on.

  • I really like your reviews which are interesting, to the point and very definitely NOT BORING. Thank you and please continue in exactly the way as you have in the past and ignore any comments from those suffering from "Attention Deficit Disorder".

  • Very clear, thanks, ordered the jumbo. Can't find the AA battery charger extension anywhere though. Is there a reference I could search?

  • @thaidings The AA Battery holder thing came with mine - but as I said in the review, I would recommend against getting one. The battery already lasts 90 mins without and the holder is flimsy and inconvenient, and the battery end of the USB cable unplugs itself all the time.

  • @Techmoan thx, I'll take your advice.

  • I've ordered one of these because customs decided to return my original 808 to Hong Kong instead of notifying me that they want an invoice :p

    I see dealextreme also has a #13 camera - 1080p, but only 15fps.

  • I like your videos, they hit all the key points for me

  • Don't worry about that "boring" comment. IMHO your video reviews are one of the best gadget reviews on youtube.

  • Did I miss the bit where you were going to explain the reason for the two different types of USB cable?

  • @FFVoyager Probably you did. Thins one was for charge and that other one for charging.

  • @Whigu Ah! I must have been overloaded with information! It's there @4:40. Thin for charge and/or record, thick for data transfer. Thanks.

  • @FFVoyager I probably didn't go into it enough. The thin wire is for charging and the thick one is for data transfer. The HD 808 cameras have their USB ports wired in a non-standard way for charging - hence the need for two different wires. The charging wire is twice as long as the data wire so you'll have enough wire to plug it in the lighter socket USB plug. You can charge and record at the same time. Hope that helps.

  • I would want image stabilization and a better microphone.

  • @Blaylock1988 Yes, stabilization would be great. Although when I tried my stabilised Sanyo on my bike, the vibrations and shake were still too great for it, so it wouldn't be able to fix every situation. I find that a big fisheye lens, like on the GoPros seems to help, because the more you can see at once, the less the shake seems to be an issue.

  • There should be more reviews like this. Very informative. Good structure. You're voice is very calm and I like it. It sounds much like that of captain slow! I'm probably not the first one to notice that.

Anyway, I was looking for a cheap camera to use in my car as an accident recorder or just for fun, and this looks very suiting. Without this review I would probably have gone for something much more expensive.

    Best regards from The Netherlands!

  • Another great video thanks. It would be so easy to go on eBay and buy the wrong one but thanks to your advice I know I've ordered the best one currently available.

On the topic of your style and accent, you come across as concise, thorough and not at all boring.

  • Not dull at all, thanks for your videos and website.

(Sorry you have had to sell your bike though!)

Looking forward to a wide-angle bullet cam version myself.......

  • Your videos are great. keep it up :)

on the other note, the larger battery can easily be desoldered and transferred to the old hd 808 camera if u want.

or just get a larger battery pack from any electronics store, they are available in many sizes and shape, or at least my local store does.

  • Nice touch on the video.

Although it made it a bit harder for me to go to sleep last night ;)

Keep up the good camera reviews, it helped me to choose the right cam in the past

  • Your videos are great. Don't change anything. I actually find the way you talk and voice pleasant to listen to. I've been looking at your reviews to find a camera for my car. One that would auto record and loop record. No LCD necessary. Do you have a recommended product or should I wait

  • @350zxray Getting a camera that loops isn't that difficult, but very few cameras auto start when receiving power - it only seems to be the ones with flip down screens designed specifically for use in a car.

  • Nice review, thanks, and your voice isn't that bad! I use a 11# HD and have also got a 3# type and the old MD80's. Quite tempted by the Jumbo for the battery life. I was surprised at the difference in sharpness and colour vibrancy of the new jumbo. How much of it is because of smeary lense? Can you do another test with a clean lense. I know the circuit board is different, but I had thought it was the same camera (and lense, video processor etc.) but with a bigger battery and bigger case?

  • I like the jumbo 808 but the audio is not a loud as the old 808, the video is MUCH better then the old #11 808, whitch one do you think I should get? like you said it really depends on what you wanna use it for, i wanted to put it on a hot wheels car, witch one do you think is good for that, Btw you are NOT! boring AT ALL! your very funny, and your reviews are much better then all the other ones i could find, Hope you reply :D

  • @Keyringcameraman You may as well get the older cheaper HD808 #11 if you are only putting it on a hot wheels car - 45 min recording time should be sufficient and the slightly smaller size might help.

  • @Techmoan

    Thanks for replying.

I will get the older number #11 808. I looked and found 1 on eBay (item number 160626883310) Do you know if there is any cheaper ones? I looked and cant find any just like to see if you have an idea, Thanks for your time.

  • Nothing boring in your review. They are very informative. I guess if you are technically challenged you'd find any decent review boring. Thank you for great job and please keep it up.

  • Spot on! The party popper made all the difference in the world! LOL!

Great review, it's a shame that after watching the 808 #11 rev. i ordered one, but that is the way of electronics (Tomorrow always brings somthing better)!

I dont know if others are like mine but its will record a single file video up to about 45 min.(battery life). It does not do the 20 min. start another video thing wich is fine by me!

    peace

  • many thanks for the informative vids, i now own a #3 and a #11 808 cam and find them both excellent little tools which have both been strapped to my rc planes, i am working on a vibration proof mounting because they both suffer from image rolling with the throttle open but calm down in the glide.

also i dont find the videos boring so please dont change the format, it works.

  • I'll take two

  • which one will be better? this jumbo one or the older one?:)

  • @zzDyLaaaNzz That choice is up to you. I hope that the information you need to decide is in the video. Jumbo = longer battery life. Older HD808 #11 = smaller and clearer sound. That's about it.

  • Hi, I had asked a question on your video for the sanyo vpc cs1... Can you pls help me? Thanks

  • An excellent review once again! I agree with the rest of the posters, you are not boring and I think you are doing a great service..Thank you, Tom

  • :O spinning keyfobs very flash!

  • @cscarlet696 Did you spot the different novelty wipes too..... I turned the excitement level up a notch. ;-)

  • @Techmoan :O I completly missed that

  • Thanks for another great review!

  • Dear Sir, you are anything but boring.

don't know what that chap was on about. I could listen to you review anything!

...partly added that us across the pond enjoy the British accent.

  • Boring? NEVER!

    TECHMOAN,

Please don't ever 'sex up' your reviews with rock music and flashy graphics, people are sick of all that cliched Americanized claptrap. I love the way you review stuff without bias and leave no stone unturned. Please don't change a thing.

    cheers

    Eric.
