Try changing the settings of the video plugins, some may cause that. You can even go on Misc settings and they have a few game fixes.

Restart pc, redownload/config. Make sure files are intact and not elsewhere. Config video plugins, try different sets of plugins, or a different version of ePSXe.

go on the video plugin settings and set it as default nice. That should set it as auto-detect fps and should go at 60fps.

use winrar and extract it. It'll extract all the parts by itself and turn into a .bin, .img, or .iso file.

I'm not familiar with basic winzip. I know 7zip, which is also a great program. Winrar just has more functions and is reliable in my opinion.

Winrar is mastewith LOADS of other archives ^^

also: very small program, free, easy to use, + shell commands if you want (right-click menu items when R-C'ing files)

Im trying to play Yugioh Forbidden Memories and all i get is a black window screen where the game is meant to be, I tried it on the 1.7 and 1.5 emulator and i get the same, the file formats i have tried are .7z and .ECM, Any Help?

.7z is a file compressor and so is .ECM. Use the .ECM file converter I have in the description. Drag and drop the the file into the ECM converter.

Try use one of the misc fixes in the video plugins. Also use 1.5.2 when playing FF9.

Hey! Thanks for the config tutorial. But I have a question and a problem, when I start up the ISO (Spyro 2: Gateway to Glimmer, Spyro the Dragon), ePSXe immediately stops working. The file is a .bin. Help please? I've searched the emu forums and found nothing.

So just a blank screen or something? Try the older versions of ePSXe and see if that works.

If nothing works, try petes 3D3 or Dx6 video plugin.

Put your crash bandicoot into the games folder. It doesn't necessarily have to be there, but I prefer it that way. You can open it up from pretty much anywhere as long you know where the game is.

Go into the video plugins and set it up as default "nice". That should change it to auto-detect FPS.

holy crap, i ran the emulator using crash bandicoot, and everything was running REALLY FAST. like it was on fast forward or something, is there a setting i need to change which makes it run the same speed as a ps1 would?

If I remember correctly, go into your video plugin settings and switch the default setting to "nice" and it should run a normal FPS.

Do you know by any chance there is a way to make the game go faster? If you are like just walking around grinding or like journeying somewhere tedious etc and you just want to make the game go faster, is there a button to do that? Theres a button configuration in the old version of psx.v.1.13 where it was under Misc in controllers that you were allowed to configure a button to fast forward the game. Im just wondering if you are supposed to download something or..?

Ok so with pete's while playing, it's Insert key to get the menu up and delete key to get the different settings. Use Page up or Down to navigate and home or end key to turn the settings on or off. It'll look green and the insert key should help you guide through it.

Black screen.

Couple things could cause this problem.

BIOS wasn't set correctly

Game is incompatible with the emulator(try different versions)

By changing the video plugins

The game isn't a .ISO, .IMG., .Bin format.

or you don't have the full game with all the parts to extract the full game.
