  • can somebody why some amstaffs are so massive and some so thin? is it a nother rase or can you train your doug "muscular"

  • Yo i got an amstaff/rottweiler and shes nearly 7 month, i trained her to sit, lay play dead and lots of stuff on command, however, she refuses to coop with me when we're walking with leash. Swear to god i tried everything but it wont just do. Was wondering if you got any pointers ?

  • @hrvatica918 wot good will gettin your cats claws ripped out do ? Why dont u pull it's teeth out while your at it. Introduce them wen the dog is young, the cat will give it a few smacks, stay calm. The dog has to learn boundaries with the cat, plenty of exercise before u introduce the dog.

  • I'm English n know than an American staffordshire bull terrier = pitbull. It's just a way for the upper classes to say they got a pitbull. Pitbulls n staffies are siiiiccckkkkk n not a bad breed, they just attract dick head owners

  • @eletendre1 Hi :) I just have a quick question. I have an 11month old kitten and I was thinking of getting an Am staff puppy. I've been doing a lot of research on how to introduce puppies to cats, but I was wondering if you have any input on this subject? Or any do's or don'ts?

  • @Hrvatica918 My sister has a cat and My Am staff just wants to be friends with her...he's more scared of the cat, she scratches him and draws blood. I'd be more nervous that the cat/kitten would take out the dogs eye or something...

  • @adamhashmat I was thinking of maybe getting her declawed before getting the puppy....but now I definitely will! Thanks : )

  • 22 PEOPLE LOIKE MIN PINS :)

  • @Gypoking96 if u bring your dogs up with love, it wouldn't matter what dogs they were. I had a rotty and a purebred pitty both male both were not desexed and they were best friends until the end.... Rocky and Jake RIP.

  • is it more frendly than the pittbull ??

  • @xbox360master303 dependely the kind of pitbull

  • @eletendre1 alright then, thank you =)

  • @eletendre1 i was thinking of buying a american staffy puppy, i already have a samoyed, do u think if they grow up together, everthing will be fine?,

    as in no fights?

p.s: my samoyed is very friendly

  • @GypoKing96 Shouldn't have any problems. My puppy grew up with a GSD, sheltie and Great Dane. They got along great. Good luck!

  • @GypoKing96 There is still a llikey of dog aggressive. So IF you decvide to get this breed.. BE PREPARED TO CRATE AND ROTATE FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIFE... it IS possible!!!

  • RAmen

  • Amen!

  • Love my amstaff! When she was a pup I took her to obedience classes and also left her at a doggie daycare facility 3 days a week where she was around other dogs, some cats, and lots of people. She loves other dogs and plays very gently with them. Sophie loves everybody and is the favorite at the kennel and vets office. I couldn't ask for a better dog!

  • Eric-i live in remote Australia.I would like to join your club, but alas there are no options for us Aussies on your join up page.My 7 month old Amstaff -Buddy-weighs in at 22kg already.I want to be as responsible as i can be when it comes to training.

    So please advise.

  • This guy is really smart

If only we could have him around in any situation where the integrity of a breed comes into question.

  • @jasmynthomas No there are 3 (Pit Bull) breeds

    1.American Pitbull Terrier

    2American Staffordshire Terrier

    3.Staffordshire Bull Terrier

All of those are in order from biggest to smallest.

  • Comment removed

  • for house keeping AMST...answer please

  • Why is he calling it a american staffordshire terrier when its a stafforrdshire bull terrier from england? is there any difference? and i have 1 amazing loving dogs just not to good with other dogs!

  • i hate it when they poop out the grass :P they act sooo funny :)

  • I love mine but they are having a real hard time with crate training. They are 5 months and sit and stay are no problem... not pooping in thier crate is. Any ideas? Please help!

  • looking how to train an amstraff,or looking for a new owner, coz i saved it from dying, from kennel disease, the owner did not show up,at the animal hospital,i am looking atfer him since ten days now,and maybe i will keep him,but i rather look for someone with expierience, and who loves these dogs, and has eanough time to spend with him,it is still a puppy dog, about 3 months old

  • I have an amstaff & he's great, but when he's outside in the yard I can't get him to mind me at all, its like I'm invisible. Do you have any tips on how I can get him to stop barking at people outside & mind me when he's out there?

  • .take the dog out with a leashe (cause if he behaves like that u probably dont exersise him enough to take out some steam) and try to play with him with a puppyroll to draw his attention.if he does respond show ur exitment by giving a snack or a pet.do that for a week or as long as it takes to gain his attention.next step is to do the same off leashe.as for the barking to people it depents of what u want.if u want a guard dog thats good.if u dont start socialising ur dog.SPEND TIME WITH UR DOG!!

  • @Panostattoo Thanks for the leash tip I'll try that. He is well socialized & he gets plenty of love. I think he gets excited because I have a 6ft wood privacy fence so he can only here what going on on the other side. There is a walking trail to directly behind me so there are lots of dogs going by. Thanks again though for your advice.

  • We are getting a pure bred am staff this weekend. I have always been a fan of the bully breeds, and feel they've gotten a horrible reputation particularity APBT's and Staffies. I plan on immediately socializing her as much as possible, and start with obedience training ASAP. My goal is to use her as a good role model for what the breed can potentially be if treated right, and even as a therapy dog. So far WI doesnt have any laws against owning these dogs, and I hope to help keep it that way.

  • btw, its hard enough finding a decent place to live because of owning a pit bull. so whoever out there that owns one, please show everyone who judge badly about our dogs wrong. please treat your dog as how you would want to be treated. they will forever love you.

  • pit bulls are never NEVER "bully" or aggressve dogs! its ALWAYS the owner who trains their pit bulls. the dog is how he is because of its owner. i've had pit bulls all my life.. i'm 20, and not once have i had an aggressve pit bull. i've trained my dogs to be so freakin well mannered and they have not one bit shown aggressive-ness towards me or strangers! my dog is the best damn dog in the world! so don't judge on what kind of dog they are.. blame the owner for not treating it right!!

  • Great video!

  • I have one question hehe my mom is afraid of this dog.

How can i let her now that that is not nessecary ??:D

  • @TELEFOON87 If your parents are anything like mine, introduce her to an Amstaff without first telling her the breed of dog. Like most people she will fall madly in love because they truly are the best dogs in the world =] I've never met an overtly aggressive Staffy and I've met a lot of them. Once she sees what a great gentle obedient dog they can be she will hopefully no longer fear them

  • there just pitbulls no difference

  • @snoopy22560 no there is a difference. I've had a pittbul and they are tooo aggressive.. amstaff aren't unless you make them... nor do they look the same. you can tell when a dog is pittbull or amtaff.. you must be an idiot if you cant tell the difference.

  • @4eternityy wat ever you can try too sugar coat it there just fuckin pit types and they call them am staff for show just like the irish staff.. if any ones an idiot for being so fuck nieve.. i know wat im taking about.. and why do you get blue nose red nose so called am staff ?????? and why do amrican staff bannd under dangerouse dog's act...... because there plain and smiple pit bull types... u cant get a red nose or blue nose staffs u retard looooooooooool

  • @snoopy22560 LOl .. why dont you read your own comments and my previous, then if you arent really retarded you'll see who sounds like a retard.. dumb idiot.

  • @snoopy22560 The only dogs I've ever been able to rely on are "bully breeds" I work in a barn with over twenty horses. Our three bullies including, an Amstaff, an american bull dog and a pit bull are all reliable with the kids, safe around the horses and the goat and are completely non-aggressive toward the cats. The pit bull was an inner city rescue and other than a little anxiety that causes her to lay flat on the ground and tuck tail, she's a perfectly safe dog. Never blame the dog

  • @4eternityy Pitbulls are NOT agressive. Its always the owners. Argressive dogs dont excist.

Its not in their breed to BE argressive anyway !!! STOP dumbdowning this amazing dog.

  • @TELEFOON87 What amazing dog? I wasnt even talking about the one in the video or anything? umm what the hell are you talking about? Ok you might have a point there. The one I had was born and raised first few months in an alcoholic abusive home too before I got it.. But there is a reason why pittbulls are banned in many countries now..

  • @4eternityy i have had pit bulls for years and have one now and they have never been agressive to people only dogs its not in there nature to attack humans... you pit bull must have fighjting lines or badly treated or rthere could just be somting wrong with the dog

  • thanks , good info.

  • i have an 8 weeks old puppy and she bites me too often and too hard! what should i do?

  • @lecheparavaka thats what puppys do

  • @lecheparavaka so does my 1 year old staff she is lovely not fighting brown and white and would give anything for a nice belly rub

  • is the amstaff banned in america or just the pitbull?

  • @TheRonron77 i think the pits are only banned in Maryland because i had an amstaff

  • @TheRonron77For one the pit bull is recognized by the AKC as the American Stafforshire Terrier. The Am Staff is banned in some gang related areas as well and some states. But like in Tennessee the police were going door to door and if you had one they would take it from you and euthanize it unless you get it out of the state in a very short amount of time. The're is also a military banned on them.Which doesn't make much since because they were poster dogs for them. It's not the dogs but bad owners

  • I breed staffys here in England but i find the title "American Staffordshire Bull Terrior" a bit unusual. what makes it american? what are the differences?

  • @evilyakko I own an American Staffy and have friends that own English staffys. My girl is 16 months old and from what I can already see and what I've been told, she will be taller and broader in the chest. She still has a lot of the staffy traits but is sooo tough. I've only ever heard her yelp once and she is so playful.

  • I want to own an amstaff but I'm affraid of the other dogs, in the place where I live there are manny tramp dogs and I don't want them to hurt my amstaff...i don't know what reaction will all have...What shoud I do?

  • What does he mean by positive reinforcement?

  • @MannyGrizzly1 positive reinfrocement = constructive critisism. negative = yelling/hitting the dog when they do something wrong.

  • We have a 12-week-old Amstaff, and everything you just said has been proven to be true so far. We also have a 4-year-old chihuahua...whom our Amstaff seems to love, but because he is already bigger than our small dog, and his extremely high amount of energy...the love isn't exactly returned which worries me. Any advice for us Amazing Dog Training Man? - hollyskeens@ymail.com

  • @HollySkeens i have an amstaff and chihuahua too lol.. the amstaff is afraid of the chihuahua because it always jumps up on him, lol its funny to watch them play.. my amstaff thinks its as small as my chihuahua and tries to get up on my lap when im sitting on the couch

  • i have 3 am staffies and there amasing

  • whats the differnece between pitbulls and amstaffs

  • @dolphinsfan1990

Pit bull isn't an actual breed: it's just a blanket term used to describe certain molosser breeds. The American pit bull terrier, the American Staffordshire terrier and the Staffordshire bull terrier are generally called pit bulls.

  • @EnigmaDrath thanks

  • @EnigmaDrath correct but here in the UK pit bull refers to the American pit bull terrior or other sub spiecies and non pedegree APBT type dogs.

  • @evilyakko

That's kinda the same here in Holland. Staffies and APBT's without pedigrees (every owner should have papers that prove their dog's bloodline) are what they consider pit bulls here. If you are found to have a pit bull without papers the authorities can put the animal down (not always: depends on the situation. If the dog is well trained and no obvious threat they'll let you keep it, though you will be ordered to have it spayed/neutered.)

  • Hello, so the Amstaffs get too cold taking them outside walking in the snow for about 40 minutes twice a day? They don't have furry paws and the ice and snow with wind chill makes my fingers turn blue playing with snow balls. So I am wondering if I put a dog coat jacket for the Amstaff going for walks if he would suffer?

    Thanks

  • Hello, I live in the mountains where is snows in the winter. Will an Amstaff be o.k. going out three four times a day in the cold snow for walks? He would be a house dog, staying in the rest of the time where it it warm.

    Thanks

  • I live in oakland ca and i volunteer at a shelter and they use prong collars and this recscue group called badrap i thnk also does too. I really at against using this method of using a prong collar but why do they use it? is just a quicker way for your dog to obey because i see the collar being very painful. If i cant do it to a human i wouldnt do it to a dog.

  • I still can't see what is the difference between a pitbull and a stafford terrier...aren't they thesame thing?

  • @MrGhettown yes,no, and sorta. depends on who you talk to. The term "pit bull" describes several breeds staffordshire terriers, american pit bull terriers, american staffordshire terriers, and bull terriers. Now about 100 or so years ago staffordshire terriers came over from england. 70 or so years ago the american staffordshire terrier breed was created from the descendants of staffordshire terriers. the dogs that didn't become akc registered were developed for fighting, where amstaffs NR

  • @MrGhettown Amstaffs were then developed for show and temperment. Some say they all originated from the same breed so they are the same dog. Some say hey 70 years is enough to make them distinctly different breeds. I tend to lean towards the latter of the two. In only a couple generations you can greatly change the intelligence and physical attributes of any animal. Here there is ALOT of generatios of selective breeding. physically there are differences as well

  • @MrGhettown finally they do have different attributes.American pit bull terriers have no standardization for physical attributes (blue eyes, pink noses, small heads, hanging lips are ll allowed). Size can also be a huge variable in PBPTs some males only weight 40 lbs, but are real tall. Others are short and over 120lbs. Most of these extremes are from fad breeders who have no f'ing clue about breeding dogs...and the animals suffer health and temperment flaws. AmStaffs are veryspecific attributes

  • @MrGhettown So the AmStaff is typically 17-19 inches for males. Larger chest and front legs (as they are more for show than go) and standardized temperment. All of these breeds are typically animal or dog aggressive (like almost all terriers are) and are very very rarely human aggressive. Any breed that is improperly raised can be human aggressive, but this breed is alot less likely to become human aggressive because of its breeding background. ex: A doberman is bred to be untrustingof strangers

  • i have american staffordshire terriens and i love them

  • do you think that if i go for a jog at 630 every morning with a 8 week old staffie it will be to much exercise

  • @thejacobhughes You will know when there tired, Then they start dragging there nails on the concrete its time to let them rest. Also take a collapsible water bowl and some water, and don't let them overheat.

  • My wife and I just got an Am Staff. Her name is Bailey and she's 9 months old. She's the best dog I have ever had. She doesn't chew my shoes, she's house broken, she's great around other dogs, she hardly barks, she's great around other people, and she gets into her bath all by herself. She loves to play and go for walks. She's still learning not to pull on her leash. We take her to the local dog park where all the rest of the dogs fall in love with her. She's a beautiful dog. We love her

  • i would like to add this advice. these dogs are too strong for their tendons and can tear their acl's very easily. make sure you warm them up before letting them run full spead.

  • Thanks for your ebook! :)

  • And part billy goat lol

  • @majinboo of course completely right i have an amstaff and a boxer/pit best dogs ever t y!!

  • he says stafforshire weird

  • i dont no much aboutpits but i just got one 4 weeks old and dont no when or how to train it

  • @samibaby11111

Let your mommy or your daddy train your doggy, you just go play with your dolls now. Puppies that are 4 weeks old are supposed to be in their litter.

  • @samibaby11111 do you have a local animal rescue league? I bet they do training, or can recommend a nearby facility. Good luck and congratulations on picking a great dog.

  • i love my amstaff, she's one amazing dog! there's nothing more she wants to do than impress me all the time when training her! i like walking her or running with her, she looks right up at me waiting for my word! when i want to be active, she's right there ready to go, and when i want to lay down on the couch, she's right there already sleeping!! the only thing deadly about her is her whipy tail! when she gets excited, her tail can catch you good!

  • @dohertysean13 i have a chocolate lab/amstaff mix and she is the best dog! she is only 10 weeks old but can already walk on a leash, sit, stand, up, off, come, etc. i love the happy look on her sweet face when i praise her. i love her so much!

  • Amstaff and pitbulls r da same just 1 is AKC N other Is UKC!!!!

  • @mohsian2

Not true actually. But I have to admit the differences are vague, and a lot of so-called experts probaby can't tell them apart without looking at the pedigree.

  • @mohsian2 Actually- the are of two different bloodlines. They are extremely close, but they are NOT the same breed.

  • @daviannmueller They are same breed. Where did you hear this from, your buddy? APBT and AmStaff are same breed. APBT came from cross of Terrier and Bull Dog. AmStaff came from cross of Terrier and Bull Dog.

Why they look different is due to selective breeding. AKC is focused on show so there is a strict guideline to follow. UKC is focused on hunting so there isn't a strict physique guideline to follow but for hunting. If you only pick red coated dogs to breed, results are more red dogs.

  • @mohsian2 american staffords and british staffords are completely different

  • @endzeitszenario i'm so happy i didn't take your advice because it would of been very sorry!

he was just a puppy so it was very normal for him to bite!my baby is bigger not and with out beating him or anything else he stoped and started biting just the toys!it was so easy to train him and i'm not sorry i got him!

    THANKS FOR THE ADVICES GUYS!!

  • hi! i have an american stafford he's very cute and does hi's things outside but he bites...alot!he even bites me!:(

could you tell me what to do,cause my little cousin is gonna come and visit and i'll get really angry if he bites her!...i tried spanking him but i'm not the kind of persons to hit a puppy!....

any advice?i would love to know it!

    thanks:D

  • This worked for me: I trained my pit not to bite by shouting no and holding her mouth closed everytime she bit. Don't let go until he's calm. If he struggles, shout no and don't let go till he's calm. Praise when he stops biting. My girl learned pretty quickly. Hope it helps.

  • with my dogs(pit-bull &rhodesian ridgeback),this works(and i have been doing this since he was a puppy, now he dos not bite anymore)......i just shout to im in a menacing and rispid voice #dont bite, dont bite# until he lets go,then i pet him....hope that helps,if it dosnt..try a small slap in his face...

  • Seriously. Sounds like you can't handle an Amstaff. PLEASE visit a dog school or give your dog to another family. PLEASE!!!

  • @kytty92 Pitbulls are very "mouthy" breeds. I've noticed it a lot with my pitbull puppy. What I did to discourage biting is when he would bite I would correct and then give him a chew toy. If you make the chew toy great and give lots of praise that will help a lot! I also praised him for licking instead of biting by saying no to the bite and then saying "kisses" until he'd kiss. Then he'd get praise. I hope this helps!

  • @misc248 Good Advice, You can also with your Finger gently scratch your fingernails on thereTongue they don't like it and will immediately stop biting. Also alot of the Bull Breeds in general are early biters, English Bulldogs etc.

There is lots of tricks to get a biter to stop.

  • the Amazing Dog Training Man? catchy name. lol..... but none the less. great advice and nice dog.

  • hi i have save a american staff from a shelter yes she very loving and very protective of my family also cute i have videos of her on my channel but i just cant get her to get along with other dogs i take her to park i walk her on the street but she just cant get along with other dogs other than the dachound mix she small and a american staff mix that were already here any idea on what i can do to help this?

  • how long is this breed of dog able to withstand alone without destructiveness, im a student in high school so i cant be there durin the day. My grandmother stays home but she's fragile and therefore cant rly help me...

  • i have amstaffs and i have to put them outside when i leave the house or else i come home to a tornado of everything crashed off tables, pillows eaten, pee on the rug, etc. But, when I am home they are angels. Could just be me, though.

  • no thanx..I prefer a pure pit bull

  • whats a pure pitbull??????you monG!!!!!!!

  • my amstaff is great she's so good and everything but as the bloke says she gets extremly exciteable when she see;s other dogs. she just thinks " oo something for me to play with" lol but wouldnt hurt a fly

  • Agree 100%! Positive reinforcement + exercise= good AmStaff.

  • I get sick of ppl labeling a certain breed of dog as more aggressive or less aggressive...Some breeds are more ENERGETIC and high strung, this does not make them aggressive, I've seen pits that wouldn't hurt a fly, and I've seen Labs that'll rip your throat out..Calling a certain breed of dog more aggressive, or mean, is the exact same as saying a certain race of ppl do this or that, it's racism 101 ppl..

  • Just to clarify some of the questions on here, there are American Pit Bull Terriers, American Staffordshire Terriers, & Staffordshire bull terriers. The one breed that differs the most physically is the SBT which is very common in the UK but very uncommon in the US. Theyre much smaller than their American Cousins (APBT & AmStaffs) and very sweet natured. I have two and adore them to bits. They're not a lazy breed though and require exercise like the other bully breeds or they become destructive

  • to be honest with you i havnt reallyy seen an agressive pit bull. I used to volunteer at a shlter and theyre pretty nice dogs. i have a toy dog and hes too agressive. pit bulls arent bad its irresponisible owndership

  • lol, part billy goat...

  • a Staffordshire Terrier and a pitbull make a american bully right

  • what are differences between amstaff and regular staffs?

  • @connorbcfc1875

the amstaff is basically a decendant of the staffordshire bull terrier which was imported to teh US in the early 1900, it was changed to give it a "mean look" this was done by crossing it with long legged dog breeds. the americanpitbull terrier had the same ancestor (the staffordhire) but was mixed with other breeds also for looks. the result is a dog with stronger hind legs and a taller posture with a rather bull dogy face.

  • @connorbcfc1875 the result was a dog that has more pushign than pulling power. that means it wudnt be as effective as a fighting breed which would need strength to bite and pull away. so ppl that say APBT were made to fight are wrong, they were made to look mean but were used to fight. however, the modern day staff here in teh UK has been selectively bred to nullify the fighting characteristics, and teh "show quality" standards are for that new breed of staff

  • @connorbcfc1875

so basically the staffs u see in teh Uk nowadays are mostly weaker versions that are do not have gameness or as much strength. however ive been monitoring breeders and can see that some lines retain the qualities of teh original staffs and as a breeder demonstrated, can single handedly take on a bull on a rampage. the real pitbulls, are teh staffs

  • some of the comments you have made i agree with and some i dont LOL.

  • Are AmStaffs legal in the UK?

  • Staffordshire Terrier isnt PitBull terrier?? or am i wrong? i used to believe Staffordshire Terrier are pit bulls terrier

  • Pit Bull refers to the American Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Amstaff.

Amstaffs were bred from American Pit Bull Terriers. They're basically the same dog but conforming to a standard and they have tried to breed the aggressiveness out.

In the USA you can register an Amstaff as a American Pit Bull Terrier, but not the other way round.

  • Oh so the Staffordshire Terrier are American Pit Bull Terrier with some small differenses (not on the image) but on the attitude?they are less aggressive etc??? thx for ur reply help

  • yes they are less agressive.. the main difference is the temper. i have 2 amstaff 3 month old pups. and they are awesome yet.. they are playful. and tend to fight a bit.. wich im working on correcting that issue. other than that they are lovable..

  • no, staffs were teh first, they were bred from fighting boxers(now extinct) and terriers and some other breeds, the amstaff and teh apbt were bred from staffs imported to teh US. all three are ptbulls, all of them have been selectivedly bred to reduce aggressivness and gameness. american staffs are legal in the UK. the illegal are apbt, tosa inu, presa canarino and one more cant rmmbr

  • yea i have an amstaff hes 1 year and 6 months and he is really good with the family he is good with my little sister but he is not good with other dogs but he is good with people outside of his property if a stranger walks in our house you can expect my amstaff to tear their ass apart... no joke

  • Like maybe a friend???

  • this guy is good y am on his newsletter and hes great:D keep going eric

  • true

  • what did he say about the neck??

  • lol "amazing dog traner man"

    nice name :)

  • Great advice...especially the point on positive reinforcement with the bully breeds!

  • Whats the difference betweem american staffordshire terrier and staffordshire terrier?

  • the american ones are bigger

  • The American ones are from America.

  • Thats not the absolute truth. They were taken along with industrial working class from england, ireland and scotland after the civil war in america. they exually took the bulls and terriers they had with them and mixed it up till they got the new breed they wanted. and that is the american staffordshire terrier

  • Everything is bigger in America, duh :)

  • @Dougiekc everything is not america.

  • @Dougiekc Actually AmStaffs were first bred in England and then brought to the US. Americans think that American Staffordshire Terriers originated from the US, but they were bred in England.

  • @Littlefire100 well theyre from the british isles and the surrounding area so they wouldve been popularly bred in ireland and scotland too, but yeah definitely not from america

  • @Dougiekc nooop

Staffys AND American pitts originated from Britain. They were bred from various breeds of terriers and bulldogs. they served the purpose of fighting sport and catching rats.

The people who thumbed up your comment are morons lol.

  • there the same thing just its eaier to say it without america but idk y ppl dont say amstaff

  • well there is two diff breeds of them you have american and english and they both have diff backgrounds

  • am staff is apit cross staff simple

  • if you would google the dogs and comparison : Saffs vs AmStaff and you will quickly notice the difference. Size, headshape, ...

you know the old saying....It Bigger in America!

  • i know the diffrence thank you very much....and the american version comes from the english versin "like all (american) dogs" they tweek them abit then call them there own like.

    "american bulldogs"

which r just basicy old english bulldogs.

anyway give some props to England and stop pretending all these dogs are american.

  • He looks like mine =) Love amstaff.

  • Yea I thought my staff was trying to pick fights with other dogs but if you let them meet its more about having a sniff and saying hello, they are very friendly inquisitive, very nosey hehe

  • Im thinking about getting one of these dogs right when Im out of college. I just want a loyal companion.

Can anyone tell me how to train one. I want it to know that Im in charge. Does that mean i need to beat it? Because I really dont want to.

  • Aggressive training is more likely to result in an aggressive dog. Study up on positive reinforcement training before you get ANY dog. We have two Amstaffs in the family (not same as pit bull). No beating necessary. Ever.

  • ya vete!!!

  • im sorry but "pitbulls " have a bad name cuse of ass holes that dont know how to train there dogs and should not have the dog from the get go i have to "pitbull /rottie and a blue healer /"pitbull i love them both there dogs do pertect thre home but thay are smarter than a wip i think this breed got a bad rap cuse of clowns wonting to fight these dogs

  • you dont have to think, that is A FACT...there are no bad animals.

only ppl can be bad and change all animals into it..

  • glad to see that people actually understand that.......

you are the only person sofar who has came up with it

  • and btw if they are agressive dogs and they breed their puppies are most likely to become agressive too

  • @majinboo75 its an amstaff not a pitbull

  • @majinboo75 well the pitbull in general was breed to fight so its hard for beginers to train a amstaff or a pitbull

  • Dear oldeskoole623, your an idiot. Do your research. Is the apbt recognized by the akc, no. You know why, because "Pitbull" is a term used to describe many breeds used in dogfighting. The Amstaff is the breed most commonly called a "Pitbull" because its bloodline is the main ingredient in the dogs that idiots like you try to pass off as "pitbulls".

  • are they vicious

  • What? they are not Vicious at all They have a bad rap and some shitty owners who like the bad boy image the dogs have and those ppl work hard to promote it its sad really I have one and love him he is a big softy and most of the dozens or so that I have dealt with are no different

  • hehehehehe your completly right its just the bad owners hanging out on street corners drinking cans of beer with their staffs trying to untimidate people. My staff is a lovely dog, hes so full of life and as like yours a BIG softie!! hehe

  • the amstaff is a second cousin of d pit...the blood lines are gone 2 long over d years..this is y they have become der own type of breed...ive an amstaff n she is as loyal nd friendly as ur ever gionna get

  • do people think its a pit when they see it

  • Thank u!, now i definately know "Vince" , my dog, is definately an Am.staff. He's full of beans but i don't know y he doesn't like water! (lol.. he loves to eat grass).

Vince is easy to train definately with positive reinforcement, he would shake hands with anybody specially girls!

Btw i don't know how he got down to Australia, Love him!

  • Can someone explain to me what the difference is between an American staff and an English staff

  • staffies are 16-19inches tall

    amstaffs are 17-19inches tall

    staffies are not cropped

    amstaffs are cropped

  • Staffies are NOT 16-19 in the UK,so I don't know if the American standard is different or what. Over here it's 14 to 16 ins at the shoulder for a male.

  • Amstaffs and Pit`s are the same breed.Amstaffs were taken to shows and Pitt`s have been used for dogfihts(the Pit).I own a Pit-Boxer Mix, hight is 53 cm,27 kg pure muscel, my best friend, loves children and guests when come around.Hates male-dogs.Please excuse my english i`m german.

  • they are not the same. Amstaffs are stockier and generally have bigger heads. Pitbulls, nowadays, could be mixed with just about anything and the Amstaff will tend to be more of a selected breeder. I used to breed both varieties in case you are wondering my experience. Secondly, Pitbulls are not registerable through the AKC and Amstaffs are. Pitbulls are only registerable through UKC or ADBA.

  • I own an AmStaffmix, he´´s my best friend, and he loves every one.

he slepps with my cat in the bed

    Love my Sammybear
