Nur zum Richtigstellen:Dieses Gewehr heißt: G98k .Die militärische Bezeichnung lautet "Karabiner 98k" (Kar98k oder K98k ist auch ok) es heißt NICHT K98 ! Das k (hinter der Zahl und klein geschrieben) steht für kurz, da dieser Karabiner nach dem WW 1 als kürzere Version gebaut wurde.Die Entwicklung des Gewehres begann Ende des19.Jahrhunderts. 1898 wurde die Waffe standardisiert und in die deutsche Armee eingeführt, daher auch der Name: G(ewehr-19)98. Zwischenstufen waren das K98a und K98b.

Das Baujahr ist meist eingeprägt in das System, geht im Zweifelsfall aber aus der Seriennummer des Herstellers und dem über die Herstellerkataloge nachprüfbaren Herstellungsjahr hervor. Es gab neben Mauser viele Hersteller die in Lizenz das K98 fertigten.... . Ich mag den eher harten Rückstoß weniger gerne - Ein M96 ist mir da lieber : ) ... .

In Norway, you can get one for about 380 dollars. But these were used by the Norwegian army and national guard after the second world war, but that only means, that instead of the "Wehrmacht" or "SS" inscription on the gun, it's a "Hær" (Army) inscription instead,. But they still got the "Swastika" on them! But they are sadly rechambered for 30.06 ammo instead of 7.92. But you get them everywhere in Norway, and they are in perfect condition, mostly. Well worth the buy, my friend!

It was bought in germany in the 1950s, the front of the reciever is engraved "Mod98" and under that "SVWMB" ,along the side of the front of the reciever it says " *3135h" and tehre is a small gold medallion inlaid in the stock that says "Bad Nauheim"can a mauser historian/enthusiast tell me something about htis rifle? thank u...
