We had until 1992 600 Pneumatic high Powere Sirens in the old BRD..Most in Bavaria (250 Sirens)and less in Baden-Württeberg (only 6).

Hello im from south-germany.I love the TB1000..rhe are similar to our ol "Pneumatic High Power Sirens.

Our "HPHS" can be heard 12km fro their "standingpoint" with 70 db(!)

The Thunderbolts are super for warnng..very Creepy sound-even at night

I hope for you in the USA you can have the TB so long as they can do their Job..

No other siren sounds like them.. ;)

poor MOD5020...it not as loud as the thunderbolt siren. let give some facts...the MOD5020 is louder than a football crowd yet nowere near as loud as a thunderbolt 1000 or 1000T siren. which means a thunderbolt siren (especailly the model 1000) would just drown out an entire crowd of thousands cheering. wow...that thunderbolt along with the cute 2001 siren, and a.c.a. p-50 are just unstoppable!

You practically have to be right next to them to understand the voice, let alone hear it at all. The mods here have been up about 9 months and this is the first time I've been able to clearly hear the whole voice message.

Lol that sounds just like those ones on base. Once you get about 1500-2000' out, understanding the voice message(s) is out of the question. Although I will say that they have MUCH better quality voice than Whelen omni's.

Whelen's voice isn't too bad though. It carries much farther than the Modulator's or DSA's voice because the Whelen's raise the wattage for voice messages. For example, the 2910s are 4000 watt sirens, but they pump the sirens up to 5000 watts for voice messages. Initially they aren't that great, but they do carry much further and I've been able to understand the voice coming out of the 3016 2.5 miles away from my house (before they installed the 4004 1 mile away).
