This isn't so much about being an alpha as it is about being a good mother. Most mother dogs will allow their puppies to eat first and then they clean up after the pups are done. Really good mother dogs will either regurgitate their food for their puppies or even go out, find food and bring it back for the pups to eat.

I've raised a few litters of pups myself, never had a mother who was greedy like this one. Bad characteristic for a mother dog IMO.

dogs have a certain hierarchy when feeding. the alpha of the pack has to eat first then can choose to let others eat with them leave the rest for the lower ranks.
