summer and seth both applied to brown university together. when they put their applications in the mailbox, they both promised that if one of them got in and the other one didn't, he/she'd still go anyway. summer got into brown & seth didn't. seth knew that if he told summer the truth about not getting accepted, summer wouldn't go to brown either. but because brown is such a good school seth said she cant miss out on that opportunity, so he lied and said he didn't love her.

I hate to be the bitch that says this but,
seth and summers relationship is so shallow.
he only liked her cause he thought she was hot. in season 1 she was so annyiong and looked super orange and super gross.
in the later seasons it was so much better
