How to transfer DVD's into iTunes

Mine goes for a while and it looks like it is working, and then the application disappears. What's the deal?

mine says handbrake could not find VLC or your VLC is incompatible (Note: 32 bit vlc is not compatible with 64 bit HandBrake and vice-versa). I have the absolute latest handbrake, and the first VLC I got was the wrong one but I have replaced it with 64 bit intel (what my proessor is) and Yes I copy it into applications. Is this handbrake 32 bit?

1. ensure VLC is placed in your root /Applications folder, not your user home folder's ~/Applications folder.

2. VLC must be launched once after being downloaded and installed, for the system to give it permission to operate.

Double-click it and click "Okay" to the warning message about it being downloaded software.

Third, the "bitness" of VLC must match the "bitness" of HandBrake. This means 32-bit HandBrake only works with 32-bit VLC, and 64-bit HandBrake only works with 64-bit VLC.

Hi I have some questions, I have the Ipad 2. Can you still put movies on the Ipad? I was also wondering once u put movies on it will you be able to remove them easily. As movies take up alot of space on my Ipad. How long will it take to copy the movies over to your device roughly? Does handbrake contain viruses? I just downloaded the program, works great except for one problem. The video is very distorted when I try to watch it in itunes. Both the audio and video barely come in, almost like the disc was too scratched up. It's a new dvd, so I know that's not the problem. Does Handbrake have an option where I can change the video quality? If I can just get this problem resolved, I'd give this little lesson 5 stars!

I found a simpler way! No downloading at all... Just open the dvd in 'quicktime' and re-save it in a format compatible with iphone.

It has the option for formats: 'movie', 'iphone cellular', 'ipod' and "HD 480p". Then you go to itunes and go to file/add to library.

Handbrake is working the heck out of my 8 core Mac Pro. Normally it idles at 240 watts but with all 8 cores running at 100% it's up to 375 watts and core temperatures are at 140F (normally around 90). Not complaining but just to show how well Handbrake uses all the cores it can find. This 6GB DVD will be done in 26 minutes!

Handbrake scans fine until it reaches the last title in a sequence.. then it gets stuck and this is the report in the activity window:

[14:49:43] dvdnav: Read Error, Expected NAV packet but none found.

This has happened on the last three discs I've tried to scan from Seinfeld Vol 7.

Transferring episodes of TV shows with 4 discs per series and 5 or 6 episodes on each disc. Sometimes in scan, it hits glitch and Handbrakes closes. Tonight, the episodes I wanted were first 5 "titles" and it scanned through them with no problem but got stuck on title 18 and closed down without finishing, so DVD can't be encoded. Any way around this? Like maybe delete the extra titles from the files in Video_TS queue or something? Any suggestions welcome!
