This mermaid is clearly from the North Lincs/South Humberside coast: one need not necessarily be a coast dweller to spot this! I'm not trying to stereotype here, but, there is very little in the way of mackerel due to the pollution. There is low visibility due to coastal erosion and conditions are bleak for these people - hence the anti-social behaviour!

Yeah, jacktindale, that was the point, I thought. But making her a mermaid was superfluous, since she would have been just as unpleasant with two legs. The mermaid thing just seemed like the writers ran out of ideas. If there was a point, kingcroak is right in saying I missed it. What was it? That she was awful, but no one cared or noticed that she was a fish? Well, whatever they were going for, it went over my head. That's OK. I don't have to like every single sketch. :)

True, however I think that the humour is intended to arise from the fact that all of the other characters focus on her personality rather than that fact that she is a strange fish-like manatee woman.
