A lot of black students/people that I know enjoy the traditional style of marching band over corps style. It's just that simple. When I marched (5yrs) we had 2 white people and 1 asian member. But we were one big happy family.
As far as why there aren't many white people in the band instead of going the "it's an HBCU" route I'll take it here for you. There aren't many white students in teh band becasue of the style of the band. FOR EXAMPLE google pics of the following bands: UNC, wake forest, NCstate, Duke just to look at some in state schools. Then hell take a look at princeton, yale and other schools. Nothing different they're just not labeled as Historically White College/Univserity. When in ALL actuality it is.
@deeboh1919 Thank you so much for explaining that because there are so many non americans that visit our HBCU websites asking that same question. My explanation to them is to pick up a real history book that tells them why HBCU's were created. Then when they understand it, they might understand, then again, they might just not want to understand because the history they were taught is way different from what we know.
@RWDtech Carolina A&T Is a Black College Known Throughout The Land.. But IN This Year , There Weren't Many Caucasians, If You See Them Now, Many Caucasians Are Here Now. But Anywayy! Aggie Pridee All Daieyy Babyy ! ! ! !
@MultiMonkay The reason why this is called a "historically black college" is due to its inception as a university that first accepted african americans. Sadly Yale, Harvard, Princeton, and a few others in the early 1800's were not so accepting to african americans in the university setting.
I find it funny that its labeled a "black college". I mean imagine the outrage if a school was labeled a "white college" or an "Asian college", i find the double standard that exists in society so blatant. The sooner that we drop race as an issue and eliminate policies such as Affirmative action (aka reverse racism) the stronger our country will become.
@jrhrsr To answer your point as respectful as possible...there are so named white colleges for the same reason you will not find a specified white history month due to it going under tricky titles such as May, June, July, and August. A cultural/racial norm in a particular society never has to be named. This is why you will never find white literature, white art, white theatre...you just call it such. Also your argument for affirmative action is also nonsense because (please see part 2)
@jrhrsr studies clearly show the ideology behinds "reverse racism" is nonsense. Please research how individuals with black sounding names are 3 times as likely not to get call backs for jobs as individuals with white sounding names eventhough similar criterion for all applicants are met (2008 time wise's book "white like me") Not to make this racial, but I find it interesting of your dismissal of America's racial "double standards". No disrespect just sharing perspective!
@jrhrsr this is a white world and blacks stand at the bottom of it in hierarchy...it will always be like that no matter what...even if u eliminate black colleges and affirmative action racism will still exist....as blacks we have nothing in america and to possess and preserve the histories that hbcus provide is prideful and uplifting...look at it this way...how many blacks do you see going to Yale and Princeton?...everything that isnt black is white...yale and princeton and any other university-
@jrhrsr is white...they just aren't labeled that way....we as blacks had to struggle and still have to struggle to reach success. Whites have a little advantage when it comes to things. For example in the court system, people are aware that a black man may face harsher consequences for murdering a white man than a white man for murdering a black man. There's a sociological term for it but im having trouble finding it. I'll end you a link once I get, but what i'm saying is that ppl r aware of
@jrhrsr but they let it continue. God created opposites for everything. He created hot and cold just as he created racial harmony and racial disharmony. It's part of life and will continue long after your're dead.
@Gentleman1911 My good sir we are not commentating about the "Caucasians" percentages, we are inquiring matters of where the "white" students are in this particular establishment.
@RWDtech Well, nobody said that White people can't go to an H.B.C.U. (Historically Black College or University) That being said there are a lot of non Blacks who graduate from an H.B.C.U. You might not see them all at once but they're there. The 2007 Morehouse college valedictorian is a White man, the 2009 Miss Hampton University is a White woman. I know for a fact that a lot of non Blacks went to Howard University. Maybe you should visit one of our schools and see for yourself.
@RWDtech WHOOOO CARESSS?!?!? white people chose not to go there..they can if they want...why are so many people worried about white people in NC A&T's marching band videos??
@snarism it's Rain by SWV RIP James. That shit is still hard to believe. I still have his number saved in my phone. Miss u bruh

Ahh RIP James. If I'm not mistaken, he use to help out with the drummers at Smith when I was in the band there. He was always real nice.

Racism implies a Race of Power subjects another one of lesser power.. Hence Reverse Racism is an oxymoron. It does not exist by definition.
