  • jean calment enjoyed life, ate, smoked, drank and did everything a good doctor would forbid...she enjoyed her husband's money, never worked very hard...and most of all she was, like all super centenarians, stress resistant...good genes and the ability to let stress flow from your back like water are in my opinion the only things that are never mentioned when asked for the secret of their long life yet are probably the essential factors in getting to extreme old age.

  • OMG c horrible franchement respect !

  • lmao funny how hes shouting into her ear.

  • This little old lady is adorable!.. I heard she even outlived her parents, but not only that!, she also even outlived her grandparents....wow!!!!! that's amazing!.

  • would've asked her to prove if Jesus was real or not! lol

she probably shook hands with him

  • its amazing but can you actually imagine outliving your GRANDCHILDREN? That would be awful!

  • @nameless212 : Never heard the term before but I figured that "maison de tolérance" meant brothel. Is it an archaic term no longer used in modern French perhaps?

  • : D :D :D :D :D :D

  • marron les héritiers

  • im just posting the translation again Did you meet Van Gogh ?

    - Yes

    - How ?

    - I met him at the end of his life. He was ugly. He was alcoholic.

    - Where did you meet him ?

    - He came at the store (in Arles). He still painted a little bit. He came to buy some canvas. My husband sold canvas, to paint. NOTE: I did not translate it was on page 3 on 10/27/2010

  • this woman is awesome even tho she's dead she's a legend i hope i can live that long

  • @brandonhytr

really? you hope you can live this long.. i don't. she doesn't like happy.

  • TRANSLATION PAGE 3

  • Think about what kind of shit she must have seen over her life. She was born ten years after the American Civil War and died six years after the Gulf War. She was around before Edison invented the light bulb and when the first automobile was invented. She lived through both World Wars, saw the moon landing and the end of the Cold War. Microsoft was founded when she was 100. She was around when the Internet was invented and died a year before Google was founded.

She smoked from age 21 to 117.

  • @DrShaym : She also witnessed the construction of the Eiffel Tower.

  • @DrShaym I read she smoked no more than 2 cigarettes per day, and stopped smoking because her eyes got so out of whack that she could no longer see well enough to light them. She also ate nearly a kilo of chocolate per week, drank lots of port wine, and put olive oil on EVERYTHING...

  • Can you imagine? You arrive at 100 years old and you've got another 22 years to live!

  • I kinda laughed as he screamed in her ear.

  • Man around age 90 I would be like any time now, then shit another 32 years.

  • Who knows, with the 21st century being quite young, living to 120 might become the norm in a few decades. And i mean living to 120 with a younger body. 120 with the body of a 70 year old...That would be so cool, because that means i would have seen the end of the 20th century, all of the 21st, and the beginning of the 22nd. I would turn 122 in 2112

  • She was born in 1875....

She saw Van Gogh, lived through the romantic current, realism, etc...Also industrial revolution....

    WW1, WW2, Cold war...omg

  • met vincent van gogh.

    lol

  • god bless her

  • Amazing, when she was 119 she looked healthier than some people who are only 85 or 88 years old.

  • She is a legend

  • woulda been better in english :/

  • I would still do her....if she was alive

  • trasnlation: STOP SHOUTING DOWN MY EAR YOU IDEOT!

  • @poopaholictar i presume its translated in french so that american retards like you can have something to complain over

  • @liamc98 the talking is in french too lol

  • Elle avait l'air adorable !

  • Translation :

    - Did you meet Van Gogh ?

    - Yes

    - How ?

    - I met him at the end of his life. He was ugly. He was alcoholic.

    - Where did you meet him ?

    - He came at the store (in Arles). He still painted a little bit. He came to buy some canvas. My husband sold canvas, to paint.

  • @Hippoclite its not "he was ugly. he was alcoholic", its he was really ugly, he reeked of alcohol...

  • - Did Van Gogh chose his canvas ?

    - Of course. He touched them. It wasn't my husband. My husband wasn't a specialist. At the end of his life, Van Gogh wasn't the same.

    - At this time, Van Gogh was famous ?

    - Yes. He went to whorehouse. Not to the women. He spent too much money. He gave money to drink.

    - How long did you study ?

    - I went to school until the Brevet (she was about 11-12 years old I think)

  • - Then, what did you do after your studied ? - I stayed at home with my parents, I was waiting my marriage. So, I painted, I practised piano, arts. - What did you paint ? - A blind screen, with 5 parts. Each part had a long spray of flower. - Did you remember how was these painted flowers ? - Yes. Roses, iris, anemones, suns. (after the interview) - Here we go - Come on, let's go gaily (french expression) - Gaily, I don't know - Onward, let's go

  • It's hard to believe that we're all going to die someday... unless we have some kind of medicine that could help us live longer in the future. Now that'll be cool!

  • She says that she met Van Gogh , he came to her store, he was very famous in town, he drank a lot. She has a very funny way to speak for such an old person she's all like "Let's go, walk!" "Right forward"

  • woooow *_________*

  • If you think about it, Jeanne Calment is old enough to be Adolf Hitler's mother. I know that would be an insult, but everyone has heard about Hitler though, so I used him as an example. At the time she was born, the telephone wasn't even invented yet, and the fastest way to travel was via a steam locomotive. If she died at an average age, she would have died sometime in the 1950's, I think that's incredible. I won't exceed her longevity until February 1, 2103.....a long time from now, lol.

  • @chuckmanofgod

yeah, lol. If we live to the 22nd century, we can brag about seeing 3 centuries. Well, i saw the last decade of the 20th,...so kinda..

  • LOL shes would be all pissed saying why are you yelling in my ears!

  • Why is this translated in French? No one speaks French except French people, weirdo Canadians some random Africans and stuck up wine and cheese people.

But other then that Nobody knows what their saying.

  • @poopaholictar - the majority of people fall into those categories

  • @poopaholictar Wow... are you dumb? Because a lot of people and truly smart people speak French you crazy rascist

  • @poopaholictar So everyone has to speak english so that you, my dear Lord, doesn't have to overthink? There is a world outside the US! big news

  • @poopaholictar : Belgians, Luxembourgers, Swiss, half of Africa, some Islands in America, some places in Canada. French is the 11th most spoken language (English is the 3rd).

  • I was getting ready for Jeanne to turn around and say to that guy, "STOP YELLING IN MY EAR!!!"

  • For me someone old is minimum 75+ Thumbs up if you agree

  • amazing

  • What an incredible, wonderful lady. And thanks to batemanier for the translation below.

  • shit man its hard to believe we'll get old 1 day

  • I wonder if anyone has her autograph. Would it be worth anything?

  • Wow, she looks like an 89 year old! Thats wonderful.

  • @Pugslee3 - That doesn't make is sound any better, LOL!

  • She was a treasure. I find myself in awe, expressed as sadness and joy. How fortunate we were to have this chance to speak with her! I speak French and in one part she said "Alors mon mari servait des toiles, pour peindre". Translation in English: "so my husband served the canvases, to paint [upon]". That's what she said.

  • Wasn't she the oldest person in history?

  • yes she is

  • @jreily88 yes.

  • she looks great for a woman over 119.

  • She was actually a smoker and thats not just an rumour, but went to just a few cigarettes a day at the end of her life

  • holy fucking hell 122 years? lol im 20 and i'm already tired of living

  • @Appledude500 EMO

  • lol i know the feeling i was fed up at about 12 haha

  • Comment removed

  • @Appledude500

Tired of living at 20? You haven't even begun. Enjoy it whilst you can!

  • @Appledude500 lmaoooo

  • @Appledude500 Sometimes I feel that way!

  • Voilà l'une des femmes les plus bénie du monde. Que Dieu ait son âme.

  • Getting older is a sickness.

  • @RijenRijen yep i just became 17 last week and i´m already sick of getting older :D:D:D

  • She was pretty active, she ride her bike until she 100!!!! can you imagine a 100 years old woman around the park in her bike.

  • She was lucky to be a senior citizen in the later twentieth century life was a lot more comfortable.

  • Comment removed

  • I will try to reach at most as I can, but I'd prefer to live a short and active life to spend 40 years laying on a bed being unable to do anything. If I live long, I'd like to do it helping whoever I can. I'm 18 already and I haven't smoke not even once in my life and not even one single glass of alcohol.

  • @CoTeCiOtm who cares ?

  • so the french people speak today has changed very little back then. sooo goood

  • she's talking about how she knew Van Gough.

  • wow... first world war.. second world war... all the experience and stuff.. i wish i could talk to that woman one time im seure she have some awesoem storys to tell...

  • Kill it with fire.

  • wow, she was only born one year after winston churchill.

  • one of relatives lived from 1709-1999, he was incredibly old

  • @corcoranstateprison that is 200 years dickhead, that is longer then she lived... dumbass

  • @corcoranstateprison lol okay

  • wow she lived longer than the terminator

  • @Timcookie321 lmfao

  • She met with Vincent Vangogh when she was 10.

  • @bbenjoe That's amazing! :)

  • What did she say in English? (most important points) please...

  • Actually I am 124 years old, and doing just fine!

  • lol see you are a good old person u even come to youtube lool to comment this video

  • When she was 119 in 1994, in this time i was 1. :D wow! :)

  • the longest life span ever recorded for a human, she says that she had met a few times the painter Van gogh in Arles where she lived , he was badly damaged by alcoholism and he used to buy canvas from her husband who runed a shop in town

  • Do something for those wrinkles

  • could someone please translate.

  • she said "i'm so old,i'm not happy, please kill me"

btw i dont want to live that long.

  • @elobservadorenliinea She did NOT say that!! What a horrible thing to say. U are so ignorant and negative. You will not know a full life in that mindset.

My Nana, at 94 is happy and is still sharp and takes care of herself.

She can even walk to the mall. She can calculate the exact price of what's in her cart.

She also has 5 daughters and a boatload of grandkids and great grandkids who visit often and love her.

See if you can say that!

  • @elobservadorenliinea I used to not want to live that long. But think of all the stuff you would see having lived that long. She witnessed the industrial revolution, and lived through both world wars. Hell, she was 25 at the turn of the 20th century. I cant even begin to comprehend all of the stuff she has seen its absolutely incredible. However it would suck outliving all of your friends and family...

  • @GURG3L I speak french. She sais she knew Van Gogh an that when she was young, her family owned a shop, and Gogh would buy painting stuff there.

  • @GURG3L Yeah someone translate please

  • @GURG3L I have translated, read the translation

  • @GURG3L

She's basically saying about when she met Van Gogh in the shop when he was looking for some different items, going on to describe him. Then she says about how she went to some marriage, after she stayed with her parents and did the painting and played piano.

  • She needed to dye her hair

  • check wiki she lived till 121

  • 122

  • where's a french translator when you need one

  • For me 70 is already too much ^^ I am just 19 ;p

  • @hellbat haha 80s for me then if i live longer then 100 + ill just top my self :P

  • @hellbat what 70 too much???... i think people should live at least until 85... if you die at 70 you would've never enjoyed your grandchildren at all

  • dear god...

  • OMG she is sexy. I would so tap that

  • @mbm744 lol

  • I just find it astonishing how she lived to 122, I mean if you look at the list of verified oldest people, on wikipedia or anything, most of them are just days apart. But she made it by a few years! Thats quite amazing

  • J'admire cette femme x)

  • What's remarkeble is that she smoked all her life....

  • @TheLordHodne

yeah, imagine how long she would have lived if she wouldn't have been smoking. She could have lived to maybe 140s...now that would have been amazing. Scientist need to do research on her body, and shoot us up with her genes

  • @Superflykid2008 Why would you live like her? She can't move very well, hear very well, and the prospect outliving your children, your husband/wife, grandchildren is eerie.

  • i wouldn't want to live that long. 75 to 80 is enough, thanks.

  • I would.

  • Both of her children died before she did. I am surprised she even made it that long.

  • When you'll be older you,ll probably dont say it.

  • l0l

  • Fuck. I'm fluent in french but without those subtitles, I would have absolutely no clue what so ever of what she was saying. I'd say that I feel sorry for her but she got more than I could ever hope for in life. Lucky, lucky woman.

  • I'm not so sure that she was very lucky. Think about it, she spent over forty years (from her 80th to 122th b-days), thinking that she would die at any moment and was at the end of her life.

  • In this video, she is talking about Vincent Van Gough

  • and she smoked till she was 117

  • I don't know if i will be able to live until the age of 122 years old, but i'm pretty sure i would live over 90, maybe 100 (because my greatgrandaunt live until 107, my greatgrandma live until 100, and all my grandparents all still alive and healthy and they're over 90) ... but living 122 you would have probably seen everything...wow.. But i believe it not only depends of what you eat but algo of your genes...

  • Well you don't have a freak accident or some disease during your life.

  • @amxrtdket haha.. maybe.. i smoke too much.. i might not gonna last longer.

  • You guys realize that her diet consisted of olive oil. Olive oil is high in Vitamin E, thats an anti-oxidant, it is known to slow down the aging process by protecting your cells form free radicals. She also used to bike a lot until she broke her femur falling. A healthy heart and the right type of food and that is the result.

  • damn, i should have do my best in french class....

  • Haha Im thinking the same here. 5 years and I dont know shit.

  • Remarkable. Could you imagine living as if it was your last day for 40 years.

  • in the 60s she was about 90 years old think about that!!

  • god bless you jeanne RIP

  • dang, for 122 she looks as though she could pass for 80, R.I.P Jeanne

  • If only the good die young then she must have been one evil bitch.LOL. just kidding.

  • Even though she is 122 she is so intelligent! Some old people completely loose their minds in their 80s. This one has remained bright and remembers her past very clearly.

She should have been treated like a useful human relic.

  • Jeanne Calment was born before Edison invented the phonograph and the light bulb and before Eiffel had built his tower. She lived to see WW1, she was already old when Hitler was thrown down, and she even saw the first men on the moon....

Incredible. Imagine that: If I reach her age, I will die 2108!

  • dude....she out lived ger GRAND son

  • In 1895, she was 20 years old. Incredible.

  • its incrediable (much like my spelling which is terrible)

  • Yell in her ear XD

  • Translation :

    - Did you meet Van Gogh ?

    - Yes

    - How ?

    - Where did you meet him ?

    - He came at the store (in Arles). He still painted a little bit. He came to buy some canvas. My husband sold canvas, to paint.

  • @batemanier according to wiki she was thirteen and it was her uncles store. no mention of marrying her uncle, are you sure about the translation or is she getting her story mixed up. i know some people believe that her story about Van Gogh could not be correct.

  • - Did Van Gogh chose his canvas ?

    - Of course. He touched them. It wasn't my husband. My husband wasn't a specialist. At the end of his life, Van Gogh wasn't the same.

    - At this time, Van Gogh was famous ?

  • Lol I would have to live untill 2116 to be equal to her D:

  • God bless her...

  • OMFG in 1935 she was 60 years old (almost 10 years before my grandparents borned), since there she was an elderly person =O

...and in 1965! she was 90 years old, people could think she would die soon.

  • Yeah seriously. My grandma on my mother's side was only a year old and my grandpa was 6 years old when she was already 60!!!

  • Thats so goddamn crazy! Even in 1935 she probably would have passed!

  • Imagine another 800 years on her, so that she reaches the alleged age of the fictional characters from the bible...... WOW!

  • Amazing... RIP I hope to live till im 70 IF im lucky... HAA

  • How old are you now?

  • for me to reach her age i wud have to live up to 2114 to beat her!!!!!!!!!
