One of my fav songs on the album for sure. I recently found a band that sounds pretty similar to Nirvana.. They're called destination destroy yourself. You guys should check em out if you like finding underground music.
I love nirvana, but his lyric formula was actually really simple...he just spoke in contradictions, once you realise that it wouldnt be too hard to copy.
There is much more to his music than that give me a break. Try using a formula like the one you mentioned and you're gonna sound like the band "Bush", unauthentic bullshit. There is no formula for the art Kurt made.
cobains genius was in his melodies and chord progressions. he said himself his lyrics ment nothing, he just strung together phrases he thought sounded cool. im a Nirvana freak but even I can see his lyrics were very simplistic, but you know what they say about beauty in simplicity and all that.
changed the world??? nirvana were amazing, but hardly changed the world, dont diminish the real things that change the world like famine, war, disease etc
i love nirvana, there music added to the the things we find beautiful, but it hardly changed the world, if that were truly possible that would be great, but its never happened yet, even beethoven didnt change the world, he simply gave it yet another possible backdrop
It did change the world if only for a few years before returning to Britney Spears and Boy Bands. People dressed differently, commercials advertised differently, people acted differently, it changed and challenged a lot of social issues from what was accepted in the 80's to what was accepted in the 90's. People around the world grew their hair, bought guitars, smoked pot. They changed the way people saw the world and themselves with music something your gen hasn't experienced.
with all due respect, i was old enough to listen and appreciate and BE A FAN when nirvana were still around and your generation as you put it is hardly unique because it felt it changed the world with music, long hair, smoking pot and buying guitars. from what i know people did all of those things when hendrix burned his guitar, or flash forward a few years and leslie west recorded with mountain, and then again with van halen and steve vai. btw pot has been smoked for thousands of years

I agree. The sad thing is that some people decided to be grunge because they thought it was cool and that was it, and that's why the pendulum swang so quick after Kurt died and the world just wanted celebrity crap and bad pop music again.
Think about the eighties. Rock was a lot of spandex and bad attitudes from 15 minute hair bands. Nirvana killed that shit off!
If Kurt hadn't died, the musical landscape of the last thirteen years would have been so different.
Nicely put. I have a band and there is no god damn formula we just jam and make good music man. I am so sick of these fake fuckers arent you man. echspecially this new rock and mainly the rap bullshit they call music.
people just don't realize that kurt like many rock musicians, made sense to himself and those who had been there with him at particular times. he used bits of conversations too. so he often speaks in code which is recognizable kind of like keywords that the other private participants can recognize.
several hundred years ago, our ancestors in britain, new england, etc decided that: if the woman is accused of witchcraft, throw her into a deep lake. then if she floats, she is not a witch. if she drowns, she is one. or was it the opposite?
i think its amazing how kurt cobain can be an idolto you guys the same way he was to me when i was your guys' age in like 93. its pretty cool how much he effected his generation and the next one, so hopefully you guys can make bands that will have the same attitude towards music as nirvana did.
will always be bands that view music the way nirvana did... maybe not in main stream, those are to busy shoving as many heads as they can up thier own asses. Apearently its now the rage to take from other peoples songs.. the one that upsets me the most is Tom Petty's Free Falling...
@butchvign1991 Yeah my goal is to make a band and bring real music back to the charts, basically mute modern music and be an idol to teens just like Kurt was, but that's just a dream and that im trying to make true i hope it happens

well, that's pretty cliche'. fact is, the real origin of the lyrics mostly go deeper and the true circumstances are not often revealed to the public. how do i know? i was priviledged to be there for some of the things that he refers to in his songs. which are not open to public scrutiny yet.

Gosh I'm so sorry for asking? Maybe you could be a little more helpful instead of being a total dick. I just wanted to know the shows name or something, and if you didn't have anything good to say about it, then you should just shut the fuck up, cuz obviously you don't know either.
he has more talent then you i doubt you could write a fucking song, make an album and play guitar WHILE singing all of that is harder then it sounds so why dont you stop leaving stupid comments and go hang out with your talentless' friends
You misunderstood my comment, flatdick. I love Cobain. That's why I was sarcastically commenting that he "sounds suicidal" because I think his wife killed him. Get it? Hence the comments about "that fucking talentless hack." Uh - that would be COURTNEY not Kurt.
Hey, by the way - I won't call you any more names after this. You can apologize for being an idiot and we can call it a day... For the record, you read it wrong.
One more thought for you, sport - I have talented friends. I can play and sing, too. No, I could never dream of approaching Cobain's genius in a million years, but I'm not as daft as you are - that's for certain. Lastly, speaking of "talentless" - you should take a class in rudimentary grammar. Your use of punctuation (or lack thereof) sucks.
Damn... that's very cool of you, and I must retract my unkind comments. You made my day, actually (as I sit here with "School" blaring out of my speakers at 100 decibles while I type). Thanks, and have a good one.
Damn people are stupid on this site - read it again... I was refering to his wife as a "talentless cunt hack." Read the chain of comments above - maybe you'll understand then.
thats exactly why kurt killed himself because of star struck fans like nirvana is my favorite band but kurt was just a regular guy who could express himself in a very smart way
@endlessnamless420 why the fuck would someone kill themselves because of that? He had a family, he would not let fake fans take his life... He ended it cause of love, he ended it cause he saw the worst in his future... This is what i think an people who say it's because of media or shit like that are stupid as fuck and not being realistic. Would you take your life because of that?
@halifuckinfan Agreed. Plus there were reports that he pulled the trigger with his toe.....hmmmm, one wonders how that's possible when Kurt was found with his shoes ON. The whole thing reeks of suspicious death
@isntsheprettyinpink Absolutely. I would never try to force my beliefs on a person. But you'd have to be blind to not see that shit just doesn't add up with Kurt's death.

Thanks, and have a good one.

you fucking dick, if he was so talentless then why did he make it so far?

Damn people are stupid on this site - read it again... I was refering to his wife as a "talentless cunt hack." Read the chain of comments above - maybe you'll understand then.

that....Kurt is GOD!
Mootjedekinderlokker 4 years ago
thats exactly why kurt killed himself because of star struck fans like nirvana is my favorite band but kurt was just a regular guy who could express himself in a very smart way
endlessnamless420 2 years ago
@endlessnamless420 why the fuck would someone kill themselves because of that? He had a family, he would not let fake fans take his life... He ended it cause of love, he ended it cause he saw the worst in his future... This is what i think an people who say it's because of media or shit like that are stupid as fuck and not being realistic. Would you take your life because of that?

@8trackworld Three times the lethal dose of Heroin makes it REALLY hard to shoot yourself.
halifuckinfan 1 year ago
@halifuckinfan Agreed. Plus there were reports that he pulled the trigger with his toe.....hmmmm, one wonders how that's possible when Kurt was found with his shoes ON. The whole thing reeks of suspicious death
isntsheprettyinpink 1 year ago
@isntsheprettyinpink All they had to do was leave the case open, they didn't need to stamp suicide on it and close it. Justice for Kurt!
halifuckinfan 1 year ago
@isntsheprettyinpink Absolutely. I would never try to force my beliefs on a person. But you'd have to be blind to not see that shit just doesn't add up with Kurt's death.
musicphreek446 1 year ago
@isntsheprettyinpink he came back to life, put on his shoes, then went back to being dead. k?
