My name is Corey Svoboda and I just watched this cover and I was moved. K, you're the shit. Here's something I wrote a few days ago about it:

So much of his sadness came from her not seeming as if she liked him. He had known her so long and tried to guide her and make her feel at home. Not once had he ever thought he was better than her. He knew how he made her feel sometimes though...

They didn't seem to like her like they did him. He knew that and it made his stomach turn every time he felt their warmth in his hardworking arms and not as much for her. The reasons were stupid. Bullshit! He hated bullshit but one of them told him he HAD to put up with the bullshit and at the time coming from him that seemed like a good thing to hear. It still guides him in a way. But the little one... His only little one... Shit was never quite fair for her...

And it made his stomach turn... Queasy... All he ever wanted was to be her best... Because he was her only.... But he had his own feelings, his own way of looking at things... Didn't he have a right to explore his? Just as she has a right to explore hers.

He looks at her and gets inspired. He looks at her and wants so much of what she is in the one he wants to find that he'll try his best to love forever. Intelligence, whit, a bit of melancholy for his strong broad shoulders to cry on. He always wanted to be a shoulder to cry on... Maybe sometimes too much and he came off a bit pushy.

A bit obnoxious. Maybe he made the mistake of wanting to dry every tear he saw fall from the eyes of the world. he always wanted to fix things. He always loved to build-even as a child, and if his creations didn't get others as excited as they made him he felt rejected... He felt lonely. He felt a piece of him was in what he made and he liked himself! And if what he made wasn't like as much as he liked it he felt that poisonous sting of rejection.

That's the way it always was for him - but look at it this way - he always didn't like everything they made or she made so what's the big deal? The big deal was that it was a mystery. Something not quite right. Something broken that needed fixed and he knew his ancestors (or at least what he thought he knew about them) had to have things a certain way.

He wanted to be like them. A part of the clan, but there were so many obstacles in his way! He left because the ones who brought the two of them into the world couldn't stay together. It wasn't worth him time to wait around. Why should he? There was the world to see, life to live and adventures to go on... He had to find it. To prove them all wrong. But wrong about what?

After some time he came to ask himself "Who am I trying to prove myself to? Myself or others? Did that even matter? What did matter in the first place? He gave up for a while. Fuck it. Why try? It's all the same anyway. Everyday seemed exactly the same no matter where he went. No matter who tried to help him or who tried to love him...

It became so normal he fell in love with it. There was even a time when he wanted to call it home and it almost completely consumed him. Others tried to help him but he refused. They weren't him, how could the possibly understand the tormenting cycle that was his existence.

What did that even mean? Dare anyone ask that question? What lies beyond that? Has anyone else looked? Did they care to look or was this just another realm to explore where others wouldn't get as excited as he did, or find others that cared as much as he did. What did he have to loose? They were all dead anyway he figured he might as well take a plunge into it and see what came out

What was it again? Is there anyone there at all?

All he heard was a melancholy voice whisper "Sadness and alone, Darkness and slumber..."

What was it that the voice said?

It seemed to be the only thing keeping him going... But the voice became lost in the others. It grew so faint he couldn't tall if it was a part of his realm, a different realm, one voice, a collective of voices or

WHAT THE FUCK IT WAS HE WAS LOOKING FOR IN THE FIRST PLACE!

The voice became so quiet it wasn't a voice anymore, but a sound. An inarticulate abstract sound. Moaning, screeching, whining, crying, screaming, whelping howl from God knows where!

It came down to a choice...

Sound for sound...

A sound to bring back silence...

To bring back peace and tranquility. To bring back a place where she smiled and laughed and was happy with what he made her. With what he made all of them. Maybe one last sound. One last song for them ALL to hear - to remember him by. Maybe then they would listen. And maybe then he would remember just what the fuck it was he went looking for in the first place.

It came down to a choice...
