I think Spike Lee's probably a little more even handed than you may think, especially in his later work.
But, even the white characters in 'Do the Right Thing' for example are pretty complex, especially John Turturro's Pino and his brother Vito.
Pino's relationship with Mookie is a complicated look at racism and personal relationships.

Who are these women? The minimum I would expect was that he would be treated with some respect. Blondie seemed eager to drag him into a fight about healthcare, while none of the others appeared to know either who he was, or anything about his career. Heck, they couldn't even read their cue cards properly. The standard of interviewer in the US must be really awful if this is any indication!

Wow. That was painful to watch. It slowly snowballed into a disaster. I feel terrible that such a highly revered and respected man had to waste his time on a show like this. I typically can handle clips of this show but these women were extremely ill prepared for this interview.
