  • the best more passionate american song ever!!!!!greece

  • 3:46 left white hat i the middle is me standing with my friend amy (hello moose)

  • Beautiful. Love the organ in it.

  • could do without the keyboards.

  • @RandomVideos7818 that makes it betterr for me, imoho

  • I downloaded this to my ipod touch and it has recorded 612 plays. The Catholics are covering the Pixies song "gouge away" but this version is incomparably BETTER than any version I've heard the pixies do. The sound is terrific and all the elements come together perfectly in this version.

  • The legendary Rich Gilbert - met him a few times - he is great

  • RuRee's favorite band is Nickleback.

  • Frank Black could tour forever based on the strength of the Pixies catalog and his first solo and teenager of the year. Own every recording of his and I feel his self titled debut is unequaled in frank blacknessitude. The stories and crazy mixed up melodic pop, synthesizers and theremin. spooky son; naw i sayin.

  • at 2:07 he's telling the drummer to reduce the drumming volume. When your THAT amazing even those details are cool. YSF

  • @ysfaljanabi never noticed that. YSF = FTW.

  • @ysfaljanabi i think he's actually telling the monitor engineer to turn the drums up!

  • super concert!!! Dimiblack

  • We love him our God Mr C Thompson III & fuck yea!

  • please, man, tag this video properly, write "gouge away" somewhere (in the title, for example) otherwise it's impossible to find it thru a search

  • Coolest performance I've ever seen of any song ever. YSF

  • Absolute amazing song, saw him live in Orlando

@ The Social, great 3 hour entertainment.

  • this is soooo fucking cool. YSF

  • Nice version, but it's not the same without Kim's backing vocals.

  • The Catholics are superb. Seen Frank more times than The Pixies and always blew me away.

    He is a rock god

  • The line up of the Catholics here, well, I've seen a lot of bands, but they blew me away. In small venues, or at festivals...

  • super ligne de basse, simple et efficace!!!

  • ...like a hermit in a shell, like jesus christ on the hill, frank black is a bad-ass.

  • effing right

  • Frank Black = one of the all time greats. believe it.

  • tell me the name of this fb and c song-

and by the way, if the revoulution comes,

please take my rifles, take my guns

  • its from the pixies, 'gouge away'

  • i think the song to these lyrics is called "bullet" from dog in sand cd

  • That song is Called Bullet.

It's from Dog in the Sand.

The line after what you quoted is:

"A single bullet in each one..."

  • Later on this day at Reading was Rancid, Feeder, Supergrass and the best band of all time, the mighty Manics. Plus OPM earlier on.

Saturday 2001. Definetly one of the best days in the history of Reading Festival.

  • yeah man!!! were you there?.... so was i! i had a great time..... supergrass were amazing aswell....

  • Nah, I was only 10 at the time and my idea of great music was bands like Limp Bizkit and Slipknot...

  • fair enough!.... well it was great!

  • Francis Black is SO FUCKING AWESOME

  • I la la love it too.... pretty baby!

  • I LA LA LOVE THIS!

  • this is fucken awsome - thanks!

  • Great sound quality on this one. Thanks for posting.

  • It is a pity that FB and the Cs are not touring anymore... I remenber the 2001 tour (following Dog in the sand album), it was awesome!

  • this is almost better than the doolittle version.

can't believe i'd ever think that...

  • subcultureshock, the synth man is Rich Gilbert, one of the Catholics... a real guitar man, he used to do such an amazing solos... I missed the Catholics in last FB tour

  • Such a guitar man is right. I grew up to the sound of Boston being torn apart with his wild rock style.

    Currently residing in Nashville.

  • Jerking off!

    What a man...

  • this is raw and beautiful thanx for posting, and to all cool enough to realize

  • frank is a musical genius! he is truely an american musical icon!!!

  • He was taken into a police cab in dublin only the other day..

  • whos playing the synth? thats who usually plays in fb's solo album stuff? the album with la on it is sick the drop in parry the wind i like almost all of his music very rare to hear consistancy like that.good post!

  • Fantastic version of my fav Pixies song!!!!! I want it on my ipod NOW!!!!!

  • Such a great song the organ sound in the background gives it a really spooky ambience..

  • I was at this gig. Brill. I also saw them in London, I was at the front, Rich Gilbert took my half full bottle of bud, used it to play the solo in six sixty six, then gave it me back to finish. A truly awesome moment - I still have the bottle.

    DJ.

  • Vintage Dave McCaffrey. Yum.

  • nothing would make me happier if he never played another pixies song live. He doesn't need to, his stuff is way better.

  • That is more factual than a joke, but still good hahaha

  • awesome

  • the guitarist's name is dave phillips. rich gilbert is playing the keyboards.

    frank black rocks.

  • you're right, he is playing keys. shit i didnt even know he played keys. im puttin him to work now. i already got him on guitar AND steel. lol.

  • You should check out the Zulus videos I'm posting on YT. It is good rock.

  • the guitarists name is rich gilbert and he now plays here in nashville with my band meat and three.

P.S. rich is not half franks age, hes older.

  • rich gilbert is superb!

  • @foleyisgodFMW Actually, I think Rich is playing keyboards on this song.

  • i cant believe it...a tear is almost welling up in my fuckin eye...i was at the festival and was right in the middle at the front of the stage somewhere....

great gig, amazing to see again.

  • i love how he sounds in this one

  • Frank looks a bit edgy. Love the scream near the end.

  • half his age? hardly!

  • Yeah... hes nopthign, except for the fact he is porbably the most underrated songwriter of the last 25 fucking years.

  • He was 36 in this video...those guys were certaintly not 15/16. Some were probably older than him. And besides a backing band, Black is a great writer all on his own...he doesn't need a band.

  • @RuRee fail.

  • @RuRee you, my friend are deaf.

  • thats my guitarist<3

  • What is the guitarists' name?

  • to quote Tony the Tiger.... They'rrrrrrr Grrreat!

  • Man that was fun stuff. thanks for the post

  • Gouge Away!!

  • These guys rule the rock world. NO ONE IS COOLER. Though, covering a Pixies song is not as cool as Frank's Catholic's material. Somebody needs to put "I Switched You" on here if you want your socks blown off your asses.
