Hi - I didn't really notice or see anything regarding crime. I stayed for 3 days with a small group. I found the place to be very laid back. The modern looking bank had a guard on duty during the day and an ATM booth which locked after you entered it. As you get off the boat the Police Station is right in front of you.
I walked around during the day on my own and felt quite safe and found the locals didn't really bother you apart from chap selling johnny cakes on a bike!
