To be correct, it is Persian Santur, referring to the ancient Persian culture which affected the whole region for several centuries. "Iran" is a term which was officially chosen 70 years ago (look at wikipedia : "Iran-Persia") to name the country previously-known as Persia. All the artistic aspects of Iranian culture remaining from the era of ancient Persia, including this marvelous instrument, should be called Persian.
