The editing in this film is just trying to hard to be edgy and different, Casino Royal and was a brilliant re-boot Quantum of Solace a huge disappointment, it had so much bloody potential, I wish they kept Martin Campbell to direct this or just had someone who understood a good action adventure film. It felt like Marc foster was trying to prove he can do action but just went overboard and forgot about character development and story.
Lake Garda is a fabulous place, i went there august 2008, and the people at my hotel told us that Daniel stayed in a town called Riva. beautiful place, but if you ever get the chance vist Limone Sul Garda the people are so friendly
Another detail that would be good for the Bond 23 is that there would be a flashback in the opening sequence (after the sequence of the gunbarrel) in that James Bond faces a dilemma that leads to the death of any of the involved character (Another big challenge for 007).
Bond has to find this last pleasure that abounds in his head as find the friendship of his new friends who should help him against the justice and the counterespionage: What do you think? And perhaps the Bond 23 will have a small air of From Russia with love it would like.
Let's hope so. Despite all the pretentious bullshit that Daniel Craig has been spouting about the importance of the character and the story, this last effort could scarcely have had any less to do with Ian Fleming's Bond. It was like watching a John Wu film. I'm seriously inclined to wonder if he's even read any of the books.
Bond will be used to show delight and courtesy to his enemies since they are so sophisticated as the organization: Quantum. Bond must be at his level to finish them and not to get involved in international troubles. Finally, there is a relation between Camille and Bond that still has not been solved.
Bond will be more coherent and clear of his acts as his evil context, but also there will be the intervention or matters of other characters as Felix Leiter and M that will keep him busy. Then, his new allies would appear: Moneypenny and Q (those who will meet Bond for the first time).
RECOMMENDATIONS OF BOND 23 (CAUTION: IT CONTAINS SPOILERS OF QUANTUM OF SOLACE)
I think that the Bond 23 must begin with the sequence of the traditional gunbarrel. And James Bond must face new enemies who could destroy or hurt minorities of Europe.
I keep on thinking that Daniel Craig is the ideal James Bond both for the dialogue and for the action. Its necessary to mention that Quantum of Solace is a well structured vision of the spy world that indicates us how James Bond adapts himself from a raw spy who still distinguishes discreetly what is good and what is bad to the super spy that we know now (according to the old James Bond movies).
I saw this movie yesterday. Its brilliant. Please give it an opportunity, only you dont hope to see anything similar to Casino Royale (although both stories are related in key scenes). Nevertheless, the action is very good and interesting (a movie of action that wakes up and suppresses your most secret emotions... at least those of James Bond). The performances are interesting. Olga Kurylenko is the sexiest and smartest Bond Girl of the XXIst century.
this is the lake Garda coastal road, west coast, Brescia province. Shots taken during a week in spring 2008. Film crew had various car accidents while reaching the sets, not during the shots. They even ended into the lake, one morning. A place usually windy when weather is fine, busy with windsurfers...
Well, you'd think it was, but no- it really was filmed and edited that poorly. It's amazing to think that the stunt crew went to such trouble and this hopeless mess of unintelligible close-ups is all that represents their efforts. What an utter load of turd!
i dont think it was done poorly, i can see the trouble the crew went through cos u got all the close ups and the angles...was too quick a sequance maybe but exiting neverless :)
Well, if a blur of images that offers no sense of perspective on the events that are occuring is 'exciting', then count me out. Rather than go to the trouble of setting up so many cameras, I'd have preferred them to think a little harder about where they could place them, so as to allow the viewer to see what the hell is supposed to be going on. Quite honestly, I thought this was of the worst Bond moments of all time. The stunt team's efforts were completely wasted by the appalling direction.
ziffra - this kind of photography was first introduced in Hollywood by the movie "The Last Boy Scout" - a kaliedoscope of quick images edited together without giving us even a Hint of perspective regarding the exact position of the stunt cars or how long the stunts took - yep, stunts were CUT right in the middle of their execution! What we need to do when we see photograph like this is to ASSUME that we are not seeing the entire stunt - and with our imaginations. .try and fill in the gaps!
Why should I have to? Why don't they just allow us a view of what supposedly occurs (assuming they did real stunts)?
How are you even expected to even imagine how it would have looked, without ANY shots that establish a background perspective of the scene? I have no idea where anything is in relation to anything else. It even turns into self-parody: when a car is suddenly seen driving off a cliff for reasons unknown. Filling in gaps is one thing. Figuring out this appalling mess is another.
I hope so. It's not just car chases though. Film makers seem intent on doing EVERYTHING through close-ups. It was the same in the interrogation scene. When every shot zooms in on a person's face, it makes it impossible to tell where people are supposed to be standing, in relation to each other. Ironically, while it's insulting to the intelligence (implying that the viewer couldn't figure out where to look for themself), it requires near-genius to deduce an accurate mental image of the events.
I saw a glimmer of hope today - I watched Transporter3 - this had much less Last Boy Scout style photography - the stunts seem to have been shown almost in full - with the picture fastforwarded - but not too much - a definite improvement! (or maybe because it was a European production they did things differently. .)
Horribly filmed sequence. Possibly one of the worst in bond history. Sad. I hope they pull out of this tailspin in the next film.

It's not sped up, it's supposed to be fast, seeing as it is a high speed car chase.

I think movie makers will go back to filming car chases in a "normal" way - as for whats happening these days - thats a phase we're going through.
