speedycop2, We will forever disagree, so I'm putting this one to bed. As I said before, IF HIS SUPERIORS ARE NOT HAPPY WITH HOW HE PERFORMS, THEY WILL REPLACE HIM. If he is losing, they will. I can see you're passionate about Football. I hope you're as passionate teaching God's Word in Sunday School. The good news is, God so loved you when you were a loser (unbeliever), that Christ came to make you a winner. Be more charitable in your name calling. If you are a Christian, he IS your brother.

So go ahead and run up and down the streets of Athens singing his praises but numbers do not lie. We outranked them and that is whats called an upset. I'm a UGA grad and huge fan, and I have a lot of respect for Coach Richt as a person. The religion part doesn't effect me one way or another. The part of his faith that has to with hard work and charity is honorable, so I'm fine with all of that. However, I'm a little frustrated that UGA can't get over the hump. We've been a middle of the pack SEC team as often as we've been "near the top". 10-3 seasons are nice but we need to finally break though like FL, LSU, Auburn and Bama.

speedycop42: I did want to add that what Mark Richt shared in Facing the Giants is reflective of what he believes. He has a deep love for God, and that cannot be turned off and on. Being a believer is 24/7. Religion is Sunday.When Mark stands before God one day, He will not ask Mark how many games he won.To God, Mark is a winner, because he obeys His Word and speaks it, as he is instructed to do. To many, Jesus was a loser who lost his game (crucified). But who REALLY was the loser? Just saying.

@speedcop42 Your speech is hateful! The poison in what you feel about Mark seeps out of you like a sieve. If this is how you are in your day to day thoughts of people, and how you voice them, I would never let my child sit at your feet in Sunday school. You CANNOT teach what you do not live or espouse. If you are so bummed, write to the people who employ him, since they decide who stays or goes. You are vile in your speech to those who support or believe in him. Says more about you than him.

Okay. Mark Richt has lost some games. speedycop42. I feel your pain.Everyone wants every game to be won, but someone WILL lose, and guaranteed. I personally think he is a good coach. Being a Christian ADDS to his ability to coach. These are college students, so I believe he MUST be teaching and coaching. By the way, preaching/ teaching does not demand someone become a minister. But you are right, coaches are paid to win. If his superiors are unhappy, he will be replaced. If not, he stays.

speedycop42: Obviously doing what you do in church has not made you a less insulting person. Maybe he needs to stay where he is and teach people how to win in life. To that end, which is all I was saying, he is not the LOOOOSSSEERR!!!! you deem him to be. I do read the Bible, and what's more, I BELIEVE it. Romans10:9,10 simply tells people how to get born again.  It was not an insult. I share that because it is LIFE.

@AndItsMyWay Telling the truth, as you see tonight, was not an insult it was a fact. They had a CAKE schedule and that is the only reason Mark won any games. Tonight has told the rest of the story. He is a loooser and he needs to open a church. His boys (Crowell and the Hoodies) are out of control (suspended half the time) thus we see the results. This is football and not church. Mark Richt did a cameo on "Facing The Giants", a Christian movie. It was wonderful that he came on and made it plain he believes In God and His Son, Jesus Christ. To that end he does his best, whether or not it meets with everyone's criteria. Football, like anything in this life, is for our enjoyment. The Big Game in life few win. So speedcop42, he may be a LOOOOSSSEERR to you, but not to God. Hope you will also be a winner for all eternity! Romans10:9,10 will get you there if you need help

I am a Sunday School Director at my church and I am not judging you as the Bible directs us not to do so. Maybe you need a read up on a few chapters yourself. None of the above statements by you make this man a good coach. He is in fact hired and paid VERY WELL to coach and WIN football games. I think he needs to quit and open a church

@doughertycounty LOVE THAT MOVIE! Loved what Mark said in it. You all seem very close and family in your church. Definitely linked in to what is required to be a standing believer... that it is in EVERY part of your life, not just when you go to church on Sunday. People who think they can live two separate ways really live one way... the devilish, worldly way. Thanks to Sherwood for some remarkable movies.
