How to Mod minecraft no archive utility (MAC)

please help when i double click it. it wont turn in to a folder

plz help i move the tomanyitem mods to my new minecraft jar folder like in the video then i open minecraft and press e wich is inentory and i dont see the items on the side i dont know if i did something wrong or its just the mod i have i have 1.1 and im in a mac

When I have compressed Minecraft.jar, renamed it and then try and open the minecraft.jar.zip file it doesn't turn into a folder but makes a copy of Minecraft.jar again which I cannot get into. I am using the Mac Os X 10.7.2 version. Any suggestions, I don't mind using the terminal.

@harrypotter5460 I found a way to fix it. Took me ages fiddling about. When you get into the bin folder, go to minecraft.jar and right click- get info. Then rename the folder minecraft.zip and when you exit it asks you to confim the change. Then right click and open with archive ultility. Now you have it in a seperate folder. Go back to .zip rename it back to .jar, and then continue the instructions here about backup etc. Hope I helped.

@Bistodog123 this is the only mod you can use with mac version 10.5... Anyvother mod you wipl get a black screen because your comps java capacity is too low.

Well, 1:08 what does it say on the window that pops up ARCHIVE UTILITY.

@HWatson96 I see what your saying, but archive utility is when you right click on the minecraft.jar and it will have a green option that will say archive utility, not all versions of mac have that the archive utility you see there on the screen every version of mac has that is something different with the same name.

FOR THE PEOPLE GETTING BLACK SCREEN:

You do not delete the META-INF folder!! If you are on a mac you open it and only delete the 2 that start with MOJANG, leave the other one.

2. did you install something other then too many items?

3. did you paste the read-me into the jar file

if you answered yes to any of these you don' goof'd
