  • @corinfrompei Farming is a business. To many people romantisice it to be what ti was like 50 years ago to back when grampa had 25 cows and 300 acres. well even that romasized vison is distorted because that would have been a huge farm 50 years ago. If you cant compete get out, its the same as any business. as for asking credentials, my familys been farming in pei since the 1840s and ive just finished a degree in ag at nsac, whats your credentials?

  • There are various ways to make a living, or to make food. To say that there is a right way or a wrong way is a matter of perspective. To each his own way. Growing healthy food in a sustainable way is important to some people. The price of food I might add, is not as important as the nutritional value that you attain from it.

  • Thank you for apologizing for your lack of understanding on what farming is like on PEI and for your considered opinion on what constitutes on how to farm. Farming is about feeding people and caring for the earth. Upgrading to compete with the world isn't farming and doesn't respect earth. This is indeed an inspiring and moving work. I am interested to know what qualifies you to not only be an expert on farming but also media art. Perhaps you should stick to your "updos".

  • @corinfrompei I agree with you. Farming these days shouldn't be about 'upgrading and competing' but rather about community and sustainability. The film itself is remarkable and Gary is doing a great service to his community by resisting modern agri-chemicals and excessive use of unnecessary machinery. The food produced from his efforts is the finest I have tasted. I highly recommend to Underwood6 that they seek out a copy of 'One Straw Revolution' by Japanese farmer Masanobu Fukuoka.

  • I'm sorry, but if this is what most farming in PEI is like, then it is understandable why there are few farmers. Farming a few acres using a 10 foot disk and a seed drill that should be sitting in a shed as an antique is no way to farm. Times have changed, and upgrades must be made in order to compete in this world. I saw the feature on CBC today and hoped that the funding would produce something inspiring, however, I don't feel that has been accomplished.

  • What the heck is this, this isnt farming, its glorified messing around with rusted junk.
