ok lets just set everything strait here, this is not a formula 1 car nor dose it have any era of formula 1 engine, you can hear very very easily that it's not revving anywhere near 17 18 19 thousand rpm. it is modeled similar to FA15 but you can tell it's not really it. f1 cars did have launch control, traction control, and stability control but was banned for the second time in 2009. most likely this is a show F1 car from 94, 95 to do promotions
F1 show cars are real F1 cars built with out of date or lifed out parts. Normally they are the previous season's chassis. In this case, it seems a private collector got his hands on a racecar, which is not surprising since there was a company offering opportunities to actually drive the Footwork. On the engine note, they only revved to about 15000 in the mid 1990s and if you had to pay the bill for a rebuild, you wouldn't wind it up either. This particular car is from the no driver aid era.
Christ, with how prepped that strip was - if the dude in the formula racer (not even going to guess which category it's from) had've used full throttle - he'd have been likely to break something in the driveline due to TOO MUCH traction - and yes, there is such a thing.
OK....So WTF is the verdict here? Is it an F1 car? Is it a F3000 car?? An F3 car? GP2??? A Footwork Arrows from 1994? An Indy car????? LOL.....Which one is it going to be??
@porksniffer It looked like a red race car beat a rich snobs orange street car, who by the way must have been smoking some good stupid to think he even had a chance. ; )
that's an F3000 Arrows car from the early 2000s or late 1990s. I can remember Mark Webber driving it in 2000 having duels with Bruno Junqueira. Other drivers: Fernando Alonso (I remember he passed 8 CARS! at the monaco race), Nick Heidfeld (1999 champion)... but that is certainly NOT an F1 car.
@Sast06 it may be an Arrows chassis, and I don't doubt it, but it's definitely not a V10. Even if he shortshifted down the run, off the line it would have sounded totally different. Check this out: nNKWrjgP5Ms
its acutaly a car made for people to learn how to drive a f1 its actually very dificult just to get the f1 going... the ''F1" usualy got 16- 2.0 L Engines from a Clio or other car its just that the power/weight is awesome
@MazzaFiveOneFour Benetton's '94 car did, but they weren't meant to have it. Launch control and traction control were banned in 1994 and unbanned in 2001.
For the benefit of those who think it's not an F1 car because 'it doesn't sound right', this actually looks remarkably like a Footwork Arrows FA15, which was fielded in 1994. It has obviously been painted up to look like the later Arrows cars which ran in 2000-2002, but the paint is pretty irrelevant. A simple Google Image search shows the resemblance to the FA15 or FA16.
The engine sounds like a Cosworth or Judd V8 - the former was originally used in the car.
@gkmotorsport you are absolutelly right, actually i didnt search in google, it just happens that i am watching f1 since i was in 5th grade.... look the kid below compares this to zonda :D
That isn't a F1. A F1 is FASTER than any other car in the world. Faster than a Veyron, than a Zonda F, than a Koennisegg,... that comparation is pathetic.
Sorry to reply on a message that is a year old, but I was totally confused about the whole 0-100 in 1.5 second thing, until I realized it was 100 kmh, not MPH.
Blame the whole metric to English conversion thing.
By the way, Top Fuel dragsters, 0-100 MPH in less than 1 second.
Might not turn as well as an F1 but a whole lot of fun to watch.
This is a stupid comrarison & even lamer race!....of course, the F1 race car is going to win!...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out!...DUH!!.....this is just plain stupid!
It's funny how many times I find you on here still making a complete fool out of yourself. This isn't even an F1 car. And even if it was, do you not think it would be to put a Formula 1 car's acceleration into perspective?
0-100 in 1.5? Sadly not in this video, if the guy left the line at 12s (on the clip) he was level with the timing tree at 13.5s (on the clip) probably doing around 30mph. An F1 car would need tyre warmers on the a full lap of a circuit to get their tyres up to temperature to achieve a good launch. Not possible at a drag strip so they don't generally impress many drag racing fans. ;-)
Funny comment asking if I'd heard of tyre warmers... read my comment above clearly stating that you'd need tyre warmers, to achieve better, along with a full lap of a circuit to get the tyres up to a decent temperature in order to achieve a good launch.
f.i.a changed a lot of rules .. no tc . no refilling of gas while racing just new tires.. smaller front wheels so theyre more difficult to drive and a lot more so dont say driving a f1 is easy cause you once played some playstation xD xD xD and no ! a f1 car cant reach 400 kmh/h :D max. around 340 (red bull , mclaren others like virgin just 300 ) because the f.i.a. also changed the rules for motors some years ago so f1 cars dont have huge motor .. max. 3 liters
@mortensen1961 it's because of high rpms! pushrod engines can't rev very high, and that's what nascar still uses... and carburetors... and straight rear axles. nascar is for luddites, i guess.
@seantal007 Top speed of an F1 car nowadays is around 300 if they are lucky. There is a video on youtube of an Honda F1 car with the wings taken of reaching over 400kph!
so they restyled the carbon-monocoque to fit a new engine in and they also found an engine with a matching gearbox and enough power to piss off a lambo and both are small and nimble enough to fit seamlessly into an existing f1 car and yes they matched the traction control with the electronics of the new engine because all that is ways cheaper and easier then buying an old f1 car!
The reason the F1 car was feathering the throttle was because with that much power flooring it would have just made mass amounts of wheel spin. Once the car starts moving quick enough the arrow dynamics of the car push the wheels down, so then he can floor it with no wheel spin.
you simply cant launch an F1 car like a dragster on a drag strip they just stall or break!
You have to feather the throttle to get them rolling they are NOT setup for high traction start lines the cars clutch area is simply too small to hold the grip.
v10s power was about 900+ bhp...now powers are about 800 bhp...and engines will be freezed till 2010..the video shows an early 90s car...the power was about 650 for a team like that...900+bhp v10 (about 2005) did 0-100 in 1.5 (as they do now..) and 0-300 in about 9sec...unbelievable if we think that powerful cars like ferrari fxx or bugatti veyron declare the first 20sec,the latter 16.7 to reach the same speed..
Yes markfsr, right car & era. But a supertec engine after '99. I think problem is more that it doesn't have its original driver rather than its original engine ! Probly a collector. Can't let it run so slow. They got big boy injectors & high line pressure 2 feed 'em at full noise. Injectors can't open/close fast enough 2 supply so little fuel so it chokes on it. Still choking when he left. After clearing it ran clean but the guy was short shifting. Just ODD as vr66r said. First timer?
cos theres that much power an that much grip the clutch cant really cope an could burn out, so its always best t do a rolling start. jerermy clarkson said so an he no's everything! :)
WTF? That looks like the old Arrows with the 1999 paint scheme. That is at the very newest a 1994 F1 car(you can tell because of how little head protection the driver has). So its only putting out about 650hp as opposed to the 2005 cars 950hp.
technology? ud haf to strip the lambo down to its bear chassis to get it the same weight for a start, then the power, its got more plus it revs higher than the lambo so it gets motre speed from the gears... its pointless but fun to watch racing road cars against racing cars
Formula 1 wins vs all cars... maybe some electric new build cars can break this records

agree :)
rik2210 4 years ago
definatly argee! the gp2 got a bad start, lambos are shit of the line cos of the 4 wheel drive system.
anfurwin 4 years ago
How are they shit off the line coz of the 4wd? Thats makes no sense unless they have girly pissweak clutch and gearbox.
chrisdef15 4 years ago 2
well they arent shit off the line but their launch control is pretty gimp. It launches at 4000rpm which makes it bog pretty much every time.
subymaster 4 years ago
cos theres that much power an that much grip the clutch cant really cope an could burn out, so its always best t do a rolling start. jerermy clarkson said so an he no's everything! :)
anfurwin 3 years ago
Yeah so its got a weak clutch like i said.
chrisdef15 3 years ago
ano ya said no need t get ratty
anfurwin 3 years ago
Lambo Diablo has not that system...

Will people stop calling this a GP2, it's an Arrows F1 car
gnpotter 3 years ago
You're both wrong. It's an Arrows F1 car, look it up.
gnpotter 3 years ago
was that traction controll or something off the line in the f1? sounded weird,
WinshieldWiper 4 years ago
whats the point of that ? you no who is gonna win :P
bl0ndd4n 4 years ago
what was with the track thats dangerous to have krap on it
wo that lambo was beat pretty bad though a good race would be veryon vs f1 car thats a race
avenge10 4 years ago
Bugatti is lambo's sister company they are both subsidiaries of VW
fenix1300 4 years ago
That has to be the most ghetto dragstrip I've ever seen. Do they encourage people to throw garbage onto the track?
qwsx123 4 years ago
Thats not a match, what did you seriously expect from that??? You dont see the orange car diving round the streets do u? NO because its a RACE CAR
BradzK09 4 years ago 2
real brainiack you are... Did you ever think the race was not to show how fast the lamborhini was but to show you how fast an F1 car is? Dumbass
e46driv3r 4 years ago
i suppose but anyone who thinks its a fair match up is fuckin dumb. Its pretty obvious wich car is faster..
BradzK09 4 years ago
first: ts gp2(which is slower) not f1. second: e46driv3r is right :)

This an Arrows F1 car
gnpotter 3 years ago
WTF? That looks like the old Arrows with the 1999 paint scheme. That is at the very newest a 1994 F1 car(you can tell because of how little head protection the driver has). So its only putting out about 650hp as opposed to the 2005 cars 950hp.
samsemtex 4 years ago
THIS IS NOT AN F1 CAR. ITS A GP2 CAR. stupid noobs
teedot 4 years ago
I think it's pointless, but were that a CURRENT F1 car.. jesus that Lambo would not have moved by the time the F1 finished.. :)
ginge4747 4 years ago
the lambo got owne
steveyoung10 4 years ago
This is F1 car what do you expect???
F1 car >>> 19 000 RPM Lambo >>> 9 000 RPM
Do you see difference?
doggysoftbg 4 years ago 2
raising the rpm isnt going to do a hell of a difference the orange car is a race car, there is not comparison period
audioamateur 4 years ago
technology? ud haf to strip the lambo down to its bear chassis to get it the same weight for a start, then the power, its got more plus it revs higher than the lambo so it gets motre speed from the gears... its pointless but fun to watch racing road cars against racing cars
hardee25 4 years ago
if you put all that technilogy into that lambo it would kick that cars ass anyday
Shelly1382 5 years ago
it's a footwork 1994 chassis with i think some kind if judd v8 engine. it has nothing to do with f1
