Thx for this vid. A Time long ago and so far away in the past...i can`t believe it.
I feel sad by seeing this and asked myself what have the humann learned until today????? We are just so little in time .....das kann ich mit worten kaum beschreiben was ich fühle beim Betrachten dieses Films........................
I love it. They are moments captured and lost forever--people just being people. They're shadows of the past, walking home casually, dogs excited to see people in a world that no longer exists. It's amazing.
Ahhh....the cycle of life. Everyone on the planet that was alive when this was made is dead and in 100 years there will be like 6 billion new dead people, and the cycle continues.
The early history of motion pictures in the United States and Europe is marked by battles over patents of cameras. In 1886 Le Prince was granted an American dual-patent on a 16-lens device that combined a motion picture camera with a projector. A patent for a single-lens type (MkI) was refused in America because of an interfering patent, but a few years later the same patent was not opposed when the American Edison applied for one!
I agree with Maddman93(please read his post). The Louis Le Prince is a first man to make cinema.
He was never able to perform a planned public demonstration in the United States because he mysteriously vanished from a train in 1890. His body and luggage were never found, but, over a century later, a police archive was found to contain a photograph of a drowned man who could be him.(text of wikipedia)
and gkopw... i hate to break it to you, but this is not why youtube exists, when youtube was created, the creaters had in mind the idea of YOU BROADCASTING YOURSELF. I'm not saying that these types of videos shouldnt be on youtube i enjoy them a lot.
Although the quality of this film lacks the historical value makes up for all of it. There was often times little plot in early movies and it was uncommon for them to go longer than 3 minutes each. What you see here is a collection of very primitive films. Note that this is not one big film but a collection.
Strange, all these people on this films are long, long dead. Buried somewhere or cremated. Their bones detoriating deep underground. But when watching these movies they are alive again. The magic of film.
This is NOT the first film ever, the first film is Roundhay Garden Scene in 1888 directed by French inventor Louis Le Prince. This is not rare, the government has records of many of these types of films that they show for free on the internet. Or you can watch these films from multiple dvd collections of the first films such as Landmarks of Early Film volume 1 and The Movies Begin - A Treasury of Early Cinema. Films were in the making 7 years before this film.dont make stuff up sentimentaldummy.
This is better quality than some mobile phones...

The big dog was always present at every scene when the gate opens. I guess his master was that guy on the bike at scenes 0:49, 1:16 and 1:34.

Thanks for this collection!
It's interesting to see the roots(or at least part of) of today's cinema.
I think most people from the audience back in the end of 19th century were like "WOW" about the reversed play sequence at the end.

It somewhat horrific when you see this people that died long time ago. I always thought that they lived in black&white world.
