Unfortunately the really talented players aren't recognized early on simply because of their inability to pay for the programs. Also, many players quit around high school because of other priorities. I would have been a phenomenal player myself. I started out playing at 4 but because I never saw it on TV I had nothing to aspire to, so I drifted away from it. Right now I'm trying to get back to the game.

Here's the thing: the sport is actually popular when it comes to actually playing it. And FIFA video games still promotes it as well. In fact, a good amount of people who don't watch this sport say how they enjoy playing it via video games.

Basically, the sport is 'only fun' when physically involved. At the same time, they don't take it as a serious professional sport which is the problem behind those who disrespect it.

But it's continuing to change the opinions each year.
