  • this looks so cool! too bad i was in 2008

  • how did you make the hanging people.

  • The hanging people are PVC pipe and wire frame underneath cotton batting material and thrift store clothes. They were very light. Didn't make faces, hands, or feet. Faces are covered with dirty rags. Hands tied behind back. Feet are just stuffed socks. Was going to have one of them jerk, but ran out of time.

  • Wow! Very impressed! Fantastic back-story!

  • No live actors most of the time. However, we did have the one area (pointed out in the video) next the bathroom where we could pop out through the hanging towels and scare people if we wanted to. Just didn't do it too often because we were running around hosting the party.

  • is there live actors

  • The mirror comment was an aside to the fact that I caught myself reflected in it while walking through. It was an ordinary mirror. If anybody actually was scared by their reflection in it then maybe I spent too much on everything else. Note to self... future theme: room of mirrors.

  • how is a mirror the scariest prop???

  • @YourGuardianWolf It's probably a one-way mirror with something really scary behind it. When you walk up to it, the lights inside it turn on, reavealing the face.

  • @YourGuardianWolf dude he ment wenever he made a face bro XD good haunted house tho how much did it cost

  • they should have some 1 that looked like the crazy guy from the movie psycho lol

  • Cool!

  • Thanks for all the comments! It cost a lot less than I expected to build the motel set itself. We borrowed a friend's scaffolding for the main structure to build 4x8 OSB panels onto. Also, the whole thing was sandwiched between existing structures which helped hold it up :) Most of the mechanisms and props can were saved and can be modified for use year after year. This year we're doing a completely different show, inside a house again.

  • Really nice job. Great set design!

  • wow im amazed

  • truly amzing

but i cant beileve it was only for a party, what about halloween, you would have been the best house in the city

  • That is the best haunted house I have ever seen!

I wish I could do something like that!

    How much did it cost?

  • This is so cool!

  • Nice job J. I had a great time at the party. I hope all is well.
