You know, as I hear Daphne, I begin to undestand this is probably what Jonathan Larson wanted. I mean, he chose Daphne because she wasn't a Broadway classic singer, but a pop-rock singer. I think that's why many theatre fans hate her, because she is not Lea Salonga, Sutton Foster or Eden Espinosa, with their great but nevertheless Broadway voices. You could hear Daphne on any radio station and it would be cool, she makes Out Tonight actually a commercial song.

As much as I love her (fav Mimi EVER!) I don't think Daphne could've played the part in the movie as well as Rosario even without the complications. While I would've loved for her to be in the movie, her soul just soars on stage. It's where she gets most of her power from. Take that away from her by putting her in a movie, and I don't think she would've faired well.
