one of my friends has a dirt oval pinto race car that has a built 2.3 and its n/a and over 300hp!!!! stock bottom end other than fly cut hyper coated piston or something like that...he spins it to 9800rpm every race with no problems, the head is where the power comes from on those engines,the stock 4cyl mustang turbo has over 200hp stock!!! thats very good if you ask me lol i want one in my 84 nissan truck!!!!

o know its not a stock block. its special racing block that costs a pretty penny. but even a reg motor still has lots of potential as long as u take care of da internals. my friend couldn't believe this was a 4cyl... freaked out

well thats great if you're rally racing. this is drag racing. drag racing is where the muscle cars dominate. wheel stands, 2000 horsepower, sub 6 second runs etc etc. all wheel drive imports are for rally tracks where you'll never see a mustang. other imports are for drift tracks. keep your imports there and we keep our muscles here.

I have no fascination with wheel stands. im saying i don't see imports with that much torque to be able to lift the car that far off the ground. im about keeping the wheels down to get from start to finish quicker. skylines and supras are about the most overrated imports out there. every tuner guy says skyline supra skyline supra bla bla ba. no one remembers about the older imports like the 240zx that could blow them away.

they are informing you that you are dead wrong as it takes a massive amount of traction to both NOT spin the tires with 900hp and to lift the car like that. a lot MORE traction than it takes to get an AWD car to run a 10 sec. pass.

@nasonguy you cant because if you have the exact same motor in two cars, one RWD and the other AWD, the AWD is going to lose a lot of power in the drive train (about 35%) face it RWD is the best for drag racing, otherwise top fuel dragsters would be AWD if it were an advantage

you can run your N/A block, swap the cast pistons and rods for some forged ones, get a turbo 2.3 head, the stock NA one's CC is different from the turbo 2.3, more compression from the non turbo head and you dont want that with a turbo motor

D-port 2.3NA and 2.3T rods are the same forged part and using the NA head with dished turbo pistons will lower compression down around a manageable 8.5:1. The NA comes with 9:1 and the turbo 8:1 stock, so you would be splitting the difference without the trouble of finding an ucracked turbo head.

i have a buddy who races mini stock and has gotten ford ohc 2.5 lift motors and although there ports are small and made for low rpm the main webing and pan rails are WAY thicker than a car block look for any used parting out JLG lift is were you can find them,just some fyi for you ford boys looking to seriously upgrade your 2.3
