It only makes sense to change this in the theatrical version, why would they put a jump scare in the trailer and then show it again in the movie? No one would have jumped cause they saw it coming. Sure a jump scare was still there but it was different.

Say, have you ever noticed how in this movie Freddy seems to get extremely aggitated or pissed off whenever the his victims aren't looking directly at him when he confronts them and/or kill them in their dreams? Of course, Nancy most of the time didn't want to look at him straight, and so did Jesse and Quentin, I believe. Who could blame them? I'd be horrorfied to look right at him. But then, he would make them to look right at him, wouldn't he? What you think?

@Gabreya Good observation! He gets more serious and mad when they aren't looking at him. He blames them for what happened to him so he probably wants them to see what they did to him. Especially Nancy, yes.

He does blame them for what happened to him because they told their parents what he'd done to them, and their parents made him pay severely to where he later he dies from his horrible wounds. Now, he wants them to suffer by screwing with their minds & making them see his horrible burns & scars before he kills them.

@JennifersBodyH2 He be really mad when they look away or down from him. Especially he's hardest and pissed at Nancy. Remember towards the end of the film where Nancy was stuck in her dream on her bed by Freddy? She was too frightened & in distressed to look at him, even when he straddled her aggressively and suggestively. At one point, he did say, "Look at me!!!". I wonder if Freddy would force victims who didn't have anything to do with his murder to look right at him.

@JennifersBodyH2 Creepy indeed. He thrives off of fear, though in this film, vengeance is a tad bit more in his lane. Well, it's a remake of course. I'll be honest. If I had dreamed about him and he had me corner, I'd be too scared to look directly at him. Lol! I know that might set him off and he would set me straight. :S Lol!

And they say that this new Freddy ain't scary. Bullcrap! I may be in the minority but he creeps me out to no end! Even his voice is menacing and creepy.

@Gabreya Yes I took the behind the box scene from a movie preview because they changed it into a jump scare and took out the part from 2:17 to 2:22....big mistake in my opinion that was a good shot. Anyways, Yes I agree with you! I'd be out of that attic and bolting it shut lol. He's not too scary in 3-6 and Freddy vs Jason, he's more funny....he's scary in the original, new nightmare, and this one. he's scary and evil in the remake.

@JennifersBodyH2 I agree. Big mistake indeed. I sure wished they would've left this part in the movie. This is a very good jump scare and good shot. Freddy wouldn't catch me in an instant. I'd be gone far away. At least I don't think so. Lol. Yeah, I remember watching the original and was scared out of my wits by Freddy. Yikes! And 'New Nightmare' Freddy was so chilling.

Great edit. I recommend adding a bit one or two breaths, as it was COMPLETE silence. The silence with creepy pants would really work for that. I was very angry when they removed the box scene because the scene made me jump out of my chair in the promotional video. I hated that they used a jump scare instead. Best blink ever!
