@mjfan123085 People seem to confuse Windows Phone with independent app developers. When you say "They don't even have a mint.com app", you are referring to Microsoft. But Microsoft don't build the apps for companies - the companies do that themselves. So if Mint.com don't have an app, it's Mint.com that is to blame. Not Microsoft. Everything is there for anyone to create an app, so people should really stop criticizing >Microsoft< for not providing apps that companies won't create.
I love the song in this video :-) And yes, Windows Phone is my no 1 choice of mobile operating system. Patiently waiting for Windows Phone 8 to be released.
@HARDSTYLEMYLIVE There are over 60,000 apps available for wp7 right now. Also Apple counts lite versions of an app and paid versions of an app separately so the iPhone app store numbers are inflated. Also google counts wallpapers are apps so the Android marketplace numbers are also inflated. Microsoft does not count trial and paid versions of apps separately and they do not count wallpapers as apps.
Seeing all the comments below comparing which Android phones lag, I think I should point out that NO Windows Phones lag. This is thanks to Microsoft's regulation of the hardware to ensure quality and so far it's worked.
Also, as a developer, I find Windows Phone the easiest platform to develop apps for, especially games, thanks to XNA support. Android is a bit complicated, but no where near as complicated as iOS.
Actually, the 4-tone sound at 1:04 is very similar to the start up tone of Windows Vista/7/8. Nice rendition Microsoft! That sound should be used in your future products, and could be the sound of your company.
Now seriously, just open up your development so we can get more apps. So many people want to make apps for these phones but they can't because it's so fucking closed.
Common, Microsoft. Get your act together, I want to enjoy my phone.
@alzain16 That's not the problem. You don't know what I mean when I say "up up your development", do you?
I'm probably the most Pro-Microsoft person you will ever meet, so please don't try to instruct to me why I should like Microsoft. I just hate that they've got their OWN amazing phone, by the balls, and are going to be single handedly responsible for it's failure, if they don't get their act together and let it go.

@MrxXBossXxPimp Samsung galaxy S2...I had one and i'd regret buying impatiently after the sony xperia S that was sooo much sexier an awesome, it was announced this year and in fact the S2 colour and contrast on it's screen was a bit dull-looking sure ain't as impressive as nokia lumia's. Samsung designers are always producing unattractive looking smartphones. I shall jump to conclusion, GS2 sucks and it requires some "plastic surgery" like what other Koreans loved doing most.
@pennjersey83 Android lags. It is the most customisable yes, but it isn't smooth, and is like a Jigsaw puzzle. There is no solid base to it, its all over the place.
Wow, you must be a tech noob. Android is far from "all over the place". Stock Android is as simple as iOS and WP7. The only difference is you have the power to unleash your Android phone and turn it into whatever you want. The OS is flexible, customizable, and you pretty much create your own OS. As far as the lag you mentioned, maybe you had a low-end Android phone, because my Android phone shows no signs of lag compared to my iPhone. Android 4.0 is amazing.
@pennjersey83 I have a HTC Sensation. It just isn't as smooth as other platforms, and never will be unless they change the actual API of it. The code is written in a way which if the processor can't deal with the executed code and the animations at the same time, it will slow down the animations to keep the phone running and continue the code being executed.
Take the Nokia Lumia for example, it only has a single core 1.4 Ghz processor but will run smoother and faster than a dual core processor.
@8150shaf That's simply not true, I'm not sure if you're aware of how threads are executed or what an API even is, but the problem is not that the processor cannot handle graphical objects and non graphical objects. While there are problems with graphical threading in Android, the problem isn't simply that the processor cannot handle the code.
Well, that's fine, but the processors in either of the two phones you mentioned aren't responsible for graphics, graphics memory, etc.
@8150shaf Well that's not really true, Android doesn't have lag, however Android can be made to lag and unfortunately many of the OEMs of android devices like to install their custom frameworks and custom interfaces which often negatively impact on the performance of the device.
However, to say that Android by default has lag is mostly just absurd and in no way reflects the reality of the mobile OS world.
@8150shaf Oh and the Sensation has the misfortune of having not enough memory to run Sense 3.0 smoothly which translates into Android having to manage memory in a way that impacts the graphic performance.
GiveMeApps (givemeapps[dot]com) is The #1 Independent App Store and Mobile Community offering apps for every Smartphone and Tablet - iOS, Android, Blackberry, Web OS, Windows Phone, Symbian, Facebook, etc. It's also the only app store giving App Publishers 100% payout. Windows Phone 7 rocks and I hope Microsoft will raise the bar with Windows Phone 8. Pure simplicity and looks and feels modern compare to iOS and Android which makes them in Xerox era lol.
With the least number of apps this is good news for developers. There is still a market on the mango platform with demand for apps still to met. at android and apple they have over 500,000. this site has a list of 71 of the most revved about apps on mango. gadgetrophy com
It's pretty much MSFT first decent commercial promoting WP7.5 and its targeted towards the Dev community? MS products as of late have been great but their marketing department is just brutal
@xxYetterxx Absolutely. I've been complaining about their marketing for over a year now. Why are they making comericals as if they're going to be shown at tradeshows and to IT departments?
@TheAzureFish There are loads of different WP7 adverts. As has always been an issue with Microsoft, OEM manufacturers want to deliver a slightly 'off-message' advert to appeal to their customers.
Microsoft advertising has to cover all bases, they release adverts specifically targeted at the different markets. Developers, Home users, Businesses etc. Microsoft's message will always be slightly confused because of the downside of using different manufacturers. On the plus, it's a very good OS.
Not bad MSFT. One of the first decent commercials I've seen for wp yet. I've had mine for 8 months and it is the cleanest and mot stable mobile OS for sure. My only critique of this add is they should of shown a variety of phones at the end to set them apart from apple
iPhone revolutionised the smartphone market, iPhone revolutionised Apps, On-Screen Keyboard and many. Android, Windows would not have developed so radically without iPhone. Apple brought innovations into our lives, others are simply following the footprints.
the thing with android is that it needs the insane hardware performance of the galaxy s2 just to run it smoothly.
WP7 is running on old school snapdragons...yesterday's hero, and it's amazing how much better it performs.
it's like the xbox 360; it has such crappy specs but because the software and hardware are OPTIMISED for each other, it runs smoothly. people don't want to just see raw hardware performance, they want it to be simple and beautiful.
@LegendaryRemixes get a life.. WP7 is the latest imposed technology from Microsoft with useless services like bing and msn integrated on the phone leaving the user with no choice over what search engine and what apps to use becuase MS ALREADY decided for them!
@dragonide2 if you had informed yourself a bit you would know it isn't so, Microsoft pays carriers and if they want you have no smartphone available, luckily Android came first but this might change.
Ever read what happened on the desktop market? Microsoft's Dirty OEM-Secret should ring you some bells if you have ever really read about technology!
Useless integrated services aye? Services like Facebook and MSN are useless? Last time I checked Facebook was the 2nd biggest website in the world, and MSN is the second biggest network behind Facebook chat - But no, like you said they are useless so I have no idea how they are so popular ¬_¬ ... Good luck to sell what crap? You mean the 'crap' that is actually selling faster than Android and iPhone put together? ... Get your facts right before trying to bash things ... idiot!
@MyRandomMoments you clearly didn't care to read my comment: first I said bing and msn and not facebook, second I read no report on Microsoft selling faster not even than Android alone, if you found it somewhere you should be intelligent enough to not believe it!
Your clearly stupid to not realise what the word "like" means ... Then again, according to your channel, your from Italy so I'm not surprised in the slightest. Well no, I don't think you would hear about Microsoft selling faster, because last time I checked Microsoft wasn't up for sale! I think you might of meant Windows Phone? And if you simply do a search on Google News, you will see that the Nokia Lumia 800 is the fastest selling handset! So as I said earlier, get your facts right
@annaju86 hmmm thats interesting... i wonder if you hit a dedicated search button on any google product will it pops up with bing? think before you speak!
@RushOrbit you do know that apple users use microsoft products and vice versa, there isn't some battle between the two. apple and microsoft work very closely together.
you and other apple fans are the same as twishite fans you all should go with that other nut alex jones to a head doctor. the iphone sucks, the ipad's great but so is the galaxy tab 10.1 and the windows phone 7
@smartydix i love android because it has many apps...but it is slow compared to windows phone (only cyanogenmod is fast but it has a simpler interface). I tried both OS...I have an HTC HD2 ;P
@xpenzo I don't find it slow, well in the first versions, to 2.2, I think it was slow and laggy. Now that I saw Galaxy S2 and HTC sense 3.0 I was really amazed. And then I was even more amazed when I found out you can combine those two. I think that that is the best combination for a smartphone. P.S. How much did you pay for your hd2 and do you regret it for not buying another phone instead? :)
@smartydix to slow i mean in terms of number of taps required to do any operation, in addition to response times... but the Galaxy S2 is a dual-core... it must be snappy and responsive also if you install on it the worse OS in history ;)... I have installed Sense 3.5 from HTC Bliss on my HD2... it rocks!!! XD i payed it 200€ and i don't ever buy another smartphone until its death! XD
@smartydix "Android: expensive, fast, prettiest, most usable..."
pretty? if you like ur homescreens cluttered and not unified, then sure it's pretty.
usable? if you're a power user and you know how to root ur android, sure it could be, but for the average user, having a "usable" phone is pointless since they're just gonna text/call/facebook/play games
fast? at the cost of dual core and shorter battery life. and it's still not faster or smoother than a windows phone.
1. You can edit your homescreens in any way you want. It can be as cluttered as the user wants. Giving the users the oppurtunity to actually choose how their own homescreen looks like cannot be a negative thing.
2. Android is perfectly usable without rooting, although most single-core phone lag no matter what. I've had the HTC Desire and Huawei U8800, rooted and stock, and neither of them was perfectly lag-free.
@OOIEatte when you say "most single core phones lag no matter what", you're talking about android right? because none of the current windowsphones lag on a single core. the fact that android requires more than one core to achieve smoothness is sad; it shows android's poor engineering.
and my samsung focus lasts 2 and a half days even when playing games, fast-app switching, background music playing, and when im connected to wifi (albeit not all at once). how long do dual core androids last?
Fuck Metro UI and all the shining interface hype...
Microsoft is requiring vendors to use the UEFI framework for new Windows devices, and there is no guarantee that vendors will put any security keys in the chip for any other OS than theirs. This appears to be a way to force end users to give up on their freedom to flash their devices and install what they want!
A GOOD REASON TO AVOID WINDOWS DEVICES!!! spread the word
I've used a Windows phone before, granted it's a Windows 6.5 phone. It's the WORST phone experience I've had. I would NEVER buy another Windows phone again.
@ktchong wp7 is everything winmo wasn't. it's fluid, fast, intuitive, and simply beautiful. did you not watch this video?? COMPLETELY different. not even the same operating system!
@kidjenius It's too little, too late for Microsoft.
A lot of people say Mac OS and Linux are better than Windows, yet Windows still prevail. Why? Because it is all about the apps. Windows have way more apps than Mac and Linux.
It's the same situation here: people pick iPhone and Android over Windows Phone because of the apps. It does not matter if Windows Phone is a better OS. iPhone and Android have way more apps, and it's impossible for Microsoft to catch up at this juncture.
@ktchong Most people use Windows because it's simple and user-friendly. Even though wp7 is based on same stuff like win7, I don't think it's going to get a lot market share beacuse it's too late now, and there is no homescreens or widgets. I've seen an iPhone, and all I can say is that there are not so many good(free) apps and games that you would actually use and play..Now, Android, on the other hand is a bit better because you can easily root the phone, switch to other interface, get free apps
@smartydix You do realize Mac OS is simpler and more user-friendly than Microsoft Windows, right?
People pick Microsoft Windows over Mac mostly for one reason: the sheer amount of apps that are available on Windows but not on Mac.
In the smartphone market, Microsoft is facing the same problem as Apple does in the computer market. Except Microsoft won't even be number-two in the smartphone market. The "first move" advantage of iPhone and Android is impossible for Microsoft to overcome.
@smartydix I am certainly not switching to Windows 7 Phone after I got screwed over by Windows 6. Screw me once, shame on Microsoft. Screw me twice, shame on me. And I'm perfectly happy with Android -- and all its apps that Windows Phone does not have.
@BigSemyy Does not matter if it is "better" -- it lags behind iPhone and Android in user base, and most likely will always be. If someone does not want "spam apps", guess what -- their first choice is iPhone.
@bxbbrian Actually, IDC predicted that Android will be the most dominant platform for smartphone by 2015. As in, number one.
IDC also predicted that PlayStation 3 will eclipsed Xbox 360 and become the console with the largest installed base by 2015, and the next Xbox will face significant difficult in gaining the next-gen marketshare due to the bad Karma from red ring of death and other quality problems that are too common on Microsoft products.

@Xuxa16 Dropbox for example. AFAIK there is no official Dropbox app yet. There are substitutes with limited usability compared to the Windows, Android and iOS versions of it.
@albertomartin70 Because I am already a Dropbox user with 6.75GB of free space, and I've never had an issue with it. I don't understand why I should migrate over to Microsoft services just because I would purchase a phone running WP7. To me, that sounds like the ultra-proprietary stuff Apple would force users to stand.
As I've understood, Mango brings some new tools for developers and opens up the possibility for new apps, such as an official Dropbox client. Time will tell if this is the case

CaptainThrill 1 month ago
@8150shaf Oh and the Sensation has the misfortune of having not enough memory to run Sense 3.0 smoothly which translates into Android having to manage memory in a way that impacts the graphic performance.
CaptainThrill 1 month ago
@8150shaf Yeah WIndows is known for having NO LAGS and being SECURE! LOL

It's pretty much MSFT first decent commercial promoting WP7.5 and its targeted towards the Dev community? MS products as of late have been great but their marketing department is just brutal
xxYetterxx 4 months ago
@xxYetterxx Absolutely. I've been complaining about their marketing for over a year now. Why are they making comericals as if they're going to be shown at tradeshows and to IT departments?
TheAzureFish 3 months ago

My only critique of this add is they should of shown a variety of phones at the end to set them apart from apple

the thing with android is that it needs the insane hardware performance of the galaxy s2 just to run it smoothly.
WP7 is just that. yet...it's so unpopular 0.o

@annaju86 Imposed ? You choose what to buy, I chose WP7. They don't need luck. Loser
dragonide2 1 month ago
@dragonide2 if you had informed yourself a bit you would know it isn't so, Microsoft pays carriers and if they want you have no smartphone available, luckily Android came first but this might change.
Ever read what happened on the desktop market? Microsoft's Dirty OEM-Secret should ring you some bells if you have ever really read about technology!
annaju86 1 month ago
@annaju86
You mean the 'crap' that is actually selling faster than Android and iPhone put together? ... Get your facts right before trying to bash things ... idiot!
MyRandomMoments 1 month ago
@MyRandomMoments you clearly didn't care to read my comment: first I said bing and msn and not facebook, second I read no report on Microsoft selling faster not even than Android alone, if you found it somewhere you should be intelligent enough to not believe it!

@annaju86

Android: expensive, fast, prettiest, most usable...
smartydix 5 months ago
@smartydix i love android because it has many apps...but it is slow compared to windows phone (only cyanogenmod is fast but it has a simpler interface). I tried both OS...I have an HTC HD2 ;P
xpenzo 5 months ago
@xpenzo I don't find it slow, well in the first versions, to 2.2, I think it was slow and laggy. Now that I saw Galaxy S2 and HTC sense 3.0 I was really amazed. And then I was even more amazed when I found out you can combine those two. I think that that is the best combination for a smartphone. P.S. How much did you pay for your hd2 and do you regret it for not buying another phone instead? :)
smartydix 5 months ago
@smartydix to slow i mean in terms of number of taps required to do any operation, in addition to response times... but the Galaxy S2 is a dual-core... it must be snappy and responsive also if you install on it the worse OS in history ;)... I have installed Sense 3.5 from HTC Bliss on my HD2... it rocks!!! XD i payed it 200€ and i don't ever buy another smartphone until its death! XD
xpenzo 5 months ago
@smartydix "Android: expensive, fast, prettiest, most usable..."
pretty? if you like ur homescreens cluttered and not unified, then sure it's pretty.
usable? if you're a power user and you know how to root ur android, sure it could be, but for the average user, having a "usable" phone is pointless since they're just gonna text/call/facebook/play games
fast? at the cost of dual core and shorter battery life. and it's still not faster or smoother than a windows phone.
kidjenius 5 months ago 7
@kidjenius
3. Dual cores do not shorten the battery life.
OOIEatte 5 months ago
@OOIEatte when you say "most single core phones lag no matter what", you're talking about android right? because none of the current windowsphones lag on a single core. the fact that android requires more than one core to achieve smoothness is sad; it shows android's poor engineering.
and my samsung focus lasts 2 and a half days even when playing games, fast-app switching, background music playing, and when im connected to wifi (albeit not all at once). how long do dual core androids last?
kidjenius 4 months ago
@kidjenius Yes, Android. Although my friends LG Optimus 7 does have a random hickup every now and then, it's silky smooth to use 98% of the time.
Android manages to handle the raw power of a dual core ARM chip quite well.
OOIEatte 4 months ago
I showed the animation and transition of my HD7 to my friends who use iphone, they were like "WOW".
keithtae 5 months ago
Fuck Metro UI and all the shining interface hype...
Microsoft is requiring vendors to use the UEFI framework for new Windows devices, and there is no guarantee that vendors will put any security keys in the chip for any other OS than theirs. This appears to be a way to force end users to give up on their freedom to flash their devices and install what they want!
A GOOD REASON TO AVOID WINDOWS DEVICES!!! spread the word

ktchong 5 months ago
@ktchong You CAN'T judge Windows Phone 7 just because you have Windows 6.5. WP7 is extremely different.
DylanGermanotta 5 months ago
@ktchong wp7 is everything winmo wasn't. it's fluid, fast, intuitive, and simply beautiful. did you not watch this video?? COMPLETELY different. not even the same operating system!
kidjenius 5 months ago
@kidjenius It's too little, too late for Microsoft.
A lot of people say Mac OS and Linux are better than Windows, yet Windows still prevail. Why? Because it is all about the apps. Windows have way more apps than Mac and Linux.
It's the same situation here: people pick iPhone and Android over Windows Phone because of the apps. It does not matter if Windows Phone is a better OS. iPhone and Android have way more apps, and it's impossible for Microsoft to catch up at this juncture.
ktchong 5 months ago
@ktchong Most people use Windows because it's simple and user-friendly. Even though wp7 is based on same stuff like win7, I don't think it's going to get a lot market share beacuse it's too late now, and there is no homescreens or widgets. I've seen an iPhone, and all I can say is that there are not so many good(free) apps and games that you would actually use and play..Now, Android, on the other hand is a bit better because you can easily root the phone, switch to other interface, get free apps
smartydix 5 months ago
@smartydix So you like Android because you can pirate and steal. Wow just pathetic
Xuxa16 5 months ago
@smartydix You do realize Mac OS is simpler and more user-friendly than Microsoft Windows, right?
People pick Microsoft Windows over Mac mostly for one reason: the sheer amount of apps that are available on Windows but not on Mac.
In the smartphone market, Microsoft is facing the same problem as Apple does in the computer market. Except Microsoft won't even be number-two in the smartphone market. The "first move" advantage of iPhone and Android is impossible for Microsoft to overcome.
ktchong 5 months ago
@smartydix I am certainly not switching to Windows 7 Phone after I got screwed over by Windows 6. Screw me once, shame on Microsoft. Screw me twice, shame on me. And I'm perfectly happy with Android -- and all its apps that Windows Phone does not have.
ktchong 5 months ago
@ktchong "it's impossible for Microsoft to catch up at this juncture."
Its never too late, Android got to where it is from nothing, cant tell me Windows Phone cant so the same thing
Xuxa16 5 months ago 3
@ktchong so then spam apps are great on android !? haha dude Windows Phone IS better.
BigSemyy 5 months ago
@BigSemyy Does not matter if it is "better" -- it lags behind iPhone and Android in user base, and most likely will always be. If someone does not want "spam apps", guess what -- their first choice is iPhone.
I certainly will not bother with it.

Xuxa16 5 months ago
@Xuxa16 Dropbox for example. AFAIK there is no official Dropbox app yet. There are substitutes with limited usability compared to the Windows, Android and iOS versions of it.
OOIEatte 5 months ago
@OOIEatte Why you want dropbox if you can have Office 365, Skydrive & SharedPoint integrated in the phone???
albertomartin70 5 months ago
@albertomartin70 Because I am already a Dropbox user with 6.75GB of free space, and I've never had an issue with it. I don't understand why I should migrate over to Microsoft services just because I would purchase a phone running WP7. To me, that sounds like the ultra-proprietary stuff Apple would force users to stand.
As I've understood, Mango brings some new tools for developers and opens up the possibility for new apps, such as an official Dropbox client. Time will tell if this is the case
