Am I right in thinking this is a MONO VCR?

Even if stereo is not important to you, the overall sound quality of the non-HiFi mono linear track is very poor. (Muffled and hissy).

This is something to check up on if considering purchase.

hmm? how about the opposite if i want to record from a pc tp tape like say a solar flare burns out pc screen,s and its us stuff or something any way i can? @JRCComputerWorld

Warning: From what I've read, the Ion VCR only works with 32 bit windows... not 64 bit windows versions.

Also, that Ion VCR can't reccord to tape... it's not a full fledged VCR.

@OBSysteme Works fine with my os, I have Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and it records and plays back just fine.

It's so funny, they always saying "tape degrades over time ... might not work later". True, but stored proprely they last for ages and their durablity is proven.

Even a degraded tape always works... unlike a hard drive, which can crash (head crash, chips fried)....

Tape is cheap and durable when not mistreated, that,s why large companies still store their data on tapes.

Went to the website to order this product and they don't have it. Search results showed nothing and a search by brand showed 10 ION items. None of them was this product. Sounds like a great idea and easy to operate. Sure wish they actually sold them.

It would of been awesome if you could explain how compatible it is with XP, how the transfer works, but you missed a ton of info in your review. I saw one yesterday at The Source, they wanted $240 Canadian for it. Is it XP SP3 compatible, for instance? You should quit doing reviews.
