@fairooz81 there are a couple was you can do it. Of course start by outlining your subject with the pen tool then, right click after you close your path and hit make selection. Then invert selection to select everything around the subject. I would suggest creating a new layer with the selection. then just go to image-adjustment-hue/saturation and change from their. if your background was originally white or black then check the colorize box.
Can you do a tutorial on changing the background color?

I can't figure out what I did wrong. Instead of smoothing out the area, my brush tool made the wall texture bumps more pronounced.

@Jewliebug1 Your numbers might be too high on your high pass filter. If that doesnt work just try doing it again, maybe you missed a step.
