Don't know where commentators are from, but either you're very young or American (not intended as offensive remark to Americans). Early punk and reggae in the UK were treated the same by the establishment as subversive. Many live concerts in dingy holes featured both genres. Ska ( the second wave) was assisted by this. People like Mikey Dread was producer at live concerts (and later on albums) for The Clash. Now, with a revival of both in the US, you're seeing what already happened elsewhere.
