i remember discovering this after a few playthroughs. if i recall, smuggler has unique dialogue if you enter through there.

this is an absolutely ordinary "backdoor", route in Deus Ex. this is in the game basically. it leads you to Smuggler's Lair.

You may not have hacked but something is up. In vanilla Deus Ex that sword wouldn't do enough damage to break that door open without enhanced combat strength activated.
