  • @disquisition73 Christian believe in Genesis creation, without any evidence. And they claim to have the truth with 100% certainty.

  • @ 7:17 is that a demon giving a blow job? XD

  • my mom who is christian refuses to even hear these arguements...that proves this point all a little more

  • The irony... it burns :D

  • god is conscious awareness vs the 'other' in a non-dualistic binary. religion are stories told and retold for thousands of years. youtube however is even more important than any of those statements because the debates can now go on via VIDEO!!! OMFG!!

  • ok first of all to the guy who made this: were u thinking of urself when u were talking about how were all "crap" cuz the only crap i see is u

  • @Tonjuax Go back to school and this time, learn a few things. Grammar, spelling, reality(biology, geology, chemistry, history, math), then, after you have thoroughly learned those topics, throw in some mythology(theism) for interest sake but don't bring your fairytales to the logic table. They will be destroyed.

  • Religion itself is one of the best evidences of the principles of evolution by natural selection on the planet. Seriously, the chronological history of Christianity is a beautiful family tree. Meme theory fits this model perfectly too. Check out Dan Dennett's "Breaking The Spell" for more, its a great read.

  • Truth needs no defense.

No one can make those excavated 65 Mil year old dinosaur bones or 4.5 Bil year old moon rocks or the very edge of the observabele universe disappear.

  • @helljumpr5150 is it relly 4.5 mil years old? u dont know for sure

  • @Tonjuax First off, i said 4.5 Billion with 10 digits, not 4.5 Million with only 7.

Secondly, we do know its that old with a geochronological study called radiometric dating, based on the atomic decay of molecules that make the elements of rocks based on what environments they are from. On the moon, where there is no atmospheric or geologic activity to wear down rocks (execpt asteroid impacts), were exactly the same as they were eons ago, and decay much more slowly.

  • Have you seen the wind? How about your mind? Looks like you do believe in the invisible. You just use unbelief to separate yourself from God, since He shows you your wrong and He's right, a feeling to put your defense mechanism against, which is your unbelief.

  • @TheBrideage are you retarded? I don't "believe" in the wind, I know it's there because it's scientifically testable. I don't "believe" in my mind, I think therefore I am. I don't obtain my moral standard from a God, it stems from my humanity. If i don't believe in morons will you cease to exist? I hope so

  • The atheist defense mechanism is unbelief. I tried it, don't worry its impossible to get the upperhand on God. You just show the glory of those who know God. Just as the night shows the glory of the day. You play your part in getting more souls saved. I am proof an athiest can be saved too!

  • @TheBrideage

The atheist doesn't have a defence mechanism, but belief in scepticism, requiring proof from people who claim that there is something but which no one can see and of which there is no proof. People such as you will readily believe that the invisible exists, but wouldn't you require hard proof against you if you were a defendant in a court case, or require pharmaceuticals to have been adequately laboratory tested before being administered to you?

  • religion is sick. it has proven that ideas can be like deadly viruses... mind viruses, that is.

  • @MrSethful that's so unfortunate, the good news is intelligent people are gathering and their influences/powers are combining to help decrease stupidity in the world. "ted.com/talks/lang/eng/richard_dawkins_on_militant_atheism.html" this might also be something you enjoy. (btw Ted Talks not only spread awareness about religious ridiculousness, but also advances in business, technology, medicine etc... AMAZING speeches.)

  • The story of Christianity unfolds exactly the way I would expect it to unfold if it were a fictional creation of mankind. Which it is.

  • This is pretty close to a video I made about a month ago about the tools theists used in debates against atheists. I'm in the process of making a second list of tools.

    I really enjoyed this video.

  • A man actually did live in the belly of a whale for 2 days.

  • @suppernoddypo2k7 you high man? source please

  • lost my focus at 3:31

    <3

  • This video has sound for only left ear.

  • The Bible never says hell is eternal, forever is a space of time, only God is eternal.

It never says Jonah was swallowed by a whale. It was a prepared fish.

  • @TheBrideage oh ok...I believe it all now. THANKS!!!!

  • @TheBrideage Open your eyes. The bible contains flaws and contradictions because it is not "the word of god". It was written by men. It contains sexism, intolerance, and violence because they were frustrated dudes living in a savage time. It contains superstition and mythology because they were incredibly clever and creative. And it contains salvation and damnation because they were fearful of death and longing for everlasting life. Do you know nothing of human nature?

  • Without Faith, It is impossible to please God.

You cannot have faith however when you want to justify your sin, can you?...

  • @TheBrideage Here is how I interpret your first sentence: Without gullibility, it is impossible to please Santa. So the fuck what?

  • Great job. Get a job as a narrator! (If you aren't one already_)

  • #3. "We cannot know the mind of God," is my favorite, to which I reply, "So why are you bothering me with shit? Why are trying to convince me that a being you admit that you can't know squat about actually exist and wants me to worship it?"

  • @44...ROFL...useless piece of crap that we are...lol

  • Often, people call themselves believers for years...before realising one day they haven't believed any of it for a long time - sometimes ever.

  • You do mean the devolution, right?

  • Where does the Bible say that Jonah LIVED those three days and nights?

  • Flip flops? Really? xD

  • the bible was absolutely contrived in a very deliberate way. anyone who doubts this needs to research and read the Apocrapha. the books that werent included into the bible for purposes of increasing its mass appeal and "unquestionability". history proves this process was performed by mortal men at the council of Nicaea in the 4th century and the church doesent dispute it. Again, more inspired pens of god i assume. But its ok, more and more people are thinking for themselves.

  • @cycophile Apocrypha XD ... well it is really A PO CRAP HA i guess... no loss.

  • Christianity is a brainwashing cult. I've gotten out of it and can see that now.

  • @evzt3 It's a little disturbing isn't it? I don't know about you, but for me, the realization came in spurts. One day I noticed the repetition of thought stopping statements. A month later I noticed the parallels to battered woman's syndrome. *Shudder*

  • wwwdotExposingChristianitydotcom

  • It doesn't matter if jonah was swallowed by a black hole and lived for any amount of time. Does it make you claim more plauseable that a shark ate him instead of a whale? NO!!! It is still rediculious.

  • @KayBeeEee1983 Either way, its a mythological story. No one survives in acid stomachs and breathes air that is safe for multiple days. More nonsense means more likely to be true?

  • @KayBeeEee1983 Also, if it wasn't a whale and indeed another large fish, please point me to which fish it was, or is it totally mythological?

  • @KayBeeEee1983 it was a month ago, and I thought it was funny

  • My favorite response to the statement "We can't know the mind of god" is, "Then wtf are *you* talking about?"

  • Cool video! I agree with you, there are defense mechanisms. I miss one though: The fear of change. Religion offers a safe haven for those who do now want any change. Everything is neatly marked and arranged, and if you want, it even tells you who to look down on, so you can feel superior. It's a comfy ride...So people will stick with it.

  • Really Christians, what's the point of reading your book? You are simply going to accuse anyone who comes to a different conclusion than your own of misinterpretation anyway. No I am not going to read it because I am not going to waste my time trying to process several hundred pages of incoherent babbling just to have one of you Kool Aid drinkers tell me how I'm supposed to think about it. Suffice to say, I think it's rubbish and so is most of the Christian religion.

  • @plugsocket100 I have been following your "discussion" with warren52nz and I have a question: in what way does quantum Mechanics have Any bearing on evolutionary theory?

  • Satan - sent by god :-)

  • @KayBeeEee1983 "Jonah was swallowed by a fish, not a whale. I was with you until you said that. It's obvious you don't really know the bible."

The bible actually says both, which isn't very consistent.

Jonah 1:17 says it is a fish, but Matthew 12:40 says it's a whale.

So if anyone here is unfamiliar with the bible, it is Matthew.

  • @eequalsfb The KJV Matthew says it's a whale, but in a literal translation it says fish. Yet another reason why the KJV should be trashed.

  • @eequalsfb It even varies according to which translation one uses. In the New Revised Standard Version, which I have heard a number of textual critics refer to as the most accurate and most authentic English translation, Matthew 12:40 refers to a "sea monster".

  • @eequalsfb They probably didn't know Whales weren't Fish back then.

  • @eequalsfb

Matthew says all kinds of shit in the Bible. I think the other Apostles should kick him out of the anthology.

The Bible may be a work of fantasy but tarting it up with zombies didn't make it better MATTHEW !

  • @eequalsfb Win

  • @KayBeeEee1983

Oh, yeah, and it was HE-bears that Elija sent to kill the kids who made fun of his bald head, instead od SHE-bears. What difference does it make? The bible is still an evil little fairy tale.

  • @jerico641 It makes a difference in regard to this video, because the video explains the evolution of christianity, and if you think jonah was swallowed by a whale, you don't know the bible very well, so you can't speak authoritatively about it. But I forgot that the KJV does actually say "whale" in the New Testament, so I guess I'm the ignorant person. When I was actually religious and went to church, we never used the KJV. It's like a foreign language.

  • @KayBeeEee1983

I just can't see a little slip up as being indicative of someone's ignorance of an entire book. Anyway, I don't believe you're ignorant just because you missed the KJV description of a big aquatic animal. Anyway, I'm certainly glad you're not religious anymore nor attending a church; to me those are both steps in the right direction.

  • @jerico641 It's a common error made by people who don't actually read the bible.

  • @KayBeeEee1983

I'm sure it is; keep staying out of church!

  • @KayBeeEee1983 YOU GOT BURNED BY KING JAMES THE LIAR

  • @iliveon What the hell are you talking about. King James got burned.

  • @KayBeeEee1983 you thought it was a fish and then it said whale, but wait. Its confirmed that whales are nothing like fish, but mammals

  • @iliveon It is a fish, and all competent translations say fish. In the original greek, Matthew says fish. The King James Version is inept.

  • @KayBeeEee1983 So which one came first? Which are considered the competent translations? Which one comes before the king james and I'm guessing you are hinting that King James Version was translated afterwards

  • @KayBeeEee1983: "Jonah was swallowed by a fish, not a whale."

Oh, well in THAT case, it MUST be true, instead of just being a stupid fucking story that couldn't possibly have happened.

  • Hebrews 6, 4-6. The double whammy evil eye curse. Better not leave the faith or else.

  • There is another one. I forget exactly where it is. There is a special curse placed on those who once believed and then denounce their faith. It is said that it would be better for them if they had never believed at all. Devilishly clever. Don't you think.

  • GODISIMAGINARYdotCOM

  • Here's another good Christian defense mechanism quote some fundie threw at me the other day : "God was pleased with the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believed". Boy, l guess l won't question the foolishness of some scriptures ever again .

  • @plugsocket100 "you sound like a reet no mark who has no idea about QUANTUM SCIENCE"

Well that's kind of funny since I have a University degree in Physics and a College Diploma in Electronics! I'd have to question YOUR education with things like "reet no mark".

The reason Scientists don't like the word "Darwinist" is because Darwin formulated the theory but it's been hugely refined since then. He didn't know about DNA or the details of inheritance but his work forms the foundation of Biology now

  • " where did i put it would work in one day"

I didn't. You said it would work in one GENERATION when you said: "a fish will jump out with legs"

Try to keep up will ya?

  • @plugsocket100 No I'm not American but thanks for the insult. If you think humans came from Chimpanzees you have no clue about Evolution. I find it hilarious to hear you insulting my intelligence when I'm right. LOL

I challenge you to find ONE published scientific paper that disproves Evolution. C'mon, just one that hasn't been blasted out of the water. I dare you.

    You can't!

  • @plugsocket100 Hang on Junior. No future discovery is going to discover that the Earth is flat because the Earth's shape is a FACT not a theory. Gravity is a fact too although what it IS is a theory. And Evolution is a FACT, the theory is about the details of mutation and natural selection. They should have taught you this in Biology. Were you sleeping or were you in an Alabama school?

  • @plugsocket100 "i did (A) levels in bio" You must have got an "F" if you concluded Evolution doesn't exist. With comments like "i broke my hand perhaps evo will fix it" and "a fish will jump out with legs" you obviously have no clue about Evolution. It doesn't work within 1 generation.

I posted the videos knowing in advance you wouldn't understand them but I'm not here to teach you. you should have learned this stuff in High School. EVERY animal is an example of Evolution in progress!

  • Thank you Al Franken :)

  • @plugsocket100 "and i dont believe in the argument of evolution..."

Evolution isn't an argument, it's a FACT! 150 years of everyone trying to knock it off its pedestal have completely failed. You may as well say the Earth is flat!

" it would take 1000 of years for things to evolve..."

So what? There have been over 3 MILLION 1000 year periods since life began. You only need to take a high school biology course to see how rock solid Evolution is.

  • Excellent video! I've subscribed.

Here's how Jesus' conception (if he existed at all) ACTUALLY happened.

Mary was sick of Joseph's clumsy, unsatisfying lovemaking so she had an affair with someone and got pregnant. Joseph knew he couldn't be the father because Mary wouldn't "let him in". So to cover up her guilt she manufactured an implausible story that was somehow accepted anyway. Little did she realize the trouble she'd caused as the Inquisition and other holy wars followed.

    Obvious truth!

  • @plugsocket100 I'd thought that for years! But then I discovered about the political agendas of the bible and how it had been changed. Perplexed and after much meditation (prayer) a few years ago, I finally got my answer but it was soooo outlandish I just couldn't cope and thought the "Devil" was with me!! Then I found Videos on YT which just confirmed all that I'd received, and now I live fully content.

  • Jesus didn't endorse anything, but taught the truth. Does anyone realize that the Bible was edited and falsified to fit with laws of the time? Did you know that there are parts of scripture that exists which wasn't added to the bible? Do you know what "sin" is, what being "saved" is as per the real teachings of Christ? Do you know that he didn't preach a "burning hell" as many believe? I don't mind if ALL ignore these things...many desire perpetuating arguments just to "score" & feel better!!

  • Oooo You forgot THOU SHALT NOT BEAR FALSE WITNESS against thy neighbor, yet Christian apologists and creationists lie. obfuscate, and besmirch the character of their fellow human beings far too often.

Christianity is an organism, one that is fighting so hard because it is in danger of its extinction.

  • What is that painting at 3:34 ?

  • Hmmm. I tend to think the greatest xtian defense mechanism is the fall of man/nature and goodness of God combination. Anything bad that happens is man's fault (including disease, parasites, carnivorousness, and natural disasters), since nature fell with man. Anything good happens is due to God's goodness/love/grace. Shoot even God's atrocities In the OT are justified with this- man is so sinful that God in his righteousness cannot tolerate it and must punish.

  • JESUS CHRIST WAS AN EXAMPLE OF THE MISSING LINK.

jesus was of subhuman intelligence who thought the earth was flat, that it was the center of the universe and only a few thousand years old. jesus christ could not comprehend the laws of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and evolution. Mary, the mother of jesus christ was a poor homeless schizophrenic lady who dreamt she was having sex with ghosts. She was impregnated with sperm from an ape/primate in an experiment to create a hybrid.

  • @outsource7 you must be kidding ha ha.but i thought about mary to.what if they made this story up?i mean mary and jozef?they got married anyway and later they had to tell jesus he was superhuman and he believed his parents.all because they would have been stoned to death if the truth would come out.so yeah what a good invention there.i have to give them credit for that.im not sure about mary yet i like it as a story but,,,,?get it?

  • @outsource7 "JESUS CHRIST WAS AN EXAMPLE OF THE MISSING LINK"

    Undoubtedly true.

    LOL

  • Amen eequalsfb!!!

  • By the way, everything you mentioned in here about "faith" and "God" and "Satan" I had already seriously thought about. (All protective mechanisms- a brilliant way to look at it.) I wondered if I was the only one who noticed how deceiving these things are in religion. I guess I'm not alone .

  • I really enjoyed this video. I was born into a Mormon family. I left because I realized it was all lies. I found myself asking, why would I want to have faith? Where did it get me? I wasted most of my 31 years giving thousands of dollars away and wasted 2 years as a missionary in a 3rd world country. I was born gay, so I was taught I was going to HELL ever since I can remember. This led to depression, which led to thoughts of suicide then anti depressants etc etc etc. All because of faith!

  • @MrSethful I admire your courage to leave the Mormon faith. You made the right decision. I myself was raised as a Christian and eventually realized it was bullshit.

  • @Jshect Thanks for the great documentary! You're seriously doing the world a favor by opening people's eyes and showing us what a strong effect indoctrination has on us as children. Thanks for spreading logic and truth!

  • @MrSethful Wow! That is so brave of you. :) But i wonder, did your parents told you that about hell? Or was it someone else?

I wouldn't consider helping other people in a 3rd world country a waste of time though. ^^

  • @MrSethful Congrats on breaking free.

  • @MrSethful

Sorry you had to experience that, but now be who you are, be free and enjoy life! Live it like it's the only one you have- because it is!

  • @MrSethful dude.. jesus is real and He loves u ... mormonisim is not Christianity that the Bible talks about.. God loves u and ur mess ups and everything else no hinderance from God's love. realize he is real and true.

Take His hand and grow in your relationship with Him .. k not ppl..

  • @Ballin4Jehovah he is no more real than apollo wotan zeus horus etc. your faith,"" belief without evidence"", is pure mythology from former man made myths, your gulibillity has you brain washed by a cult that has as much cred as scientology. you are not a truth seeker, anything but, you are simply a self deceiver like all of your kind, shunning responsibilty. shouldnt you have given up all your wealth to gain access into an imaginary heaven?. christian hypocrite. give it up bud, computer as well.

  • @kram83au Hah! aahhhh mannn u know whats sad.. U... awww mann you have no clue what is happening lol and you judge my relationship as if it werent real lol ... guy... all I can do is smile.. but I seriously feel really bad for you..sorry

you'll finnd truth . hope its not the hard way :-[

    tootles heh

  • @Ballin4Jehovah. up go the deflector sheilds i see, no more than what ive come to expect from religious hypocrites. still not giving up your wealth for your imaginary friend i see. i noticed you added a touch of fear and gulit,. not going to work with a free thinker kid. must try harder. [wink]

  • @kram83au Aww dude.. I genuinely feel bad for u lol for real this is not a joke or a funny.. I am not trying to combat the lies u r speaking to me.. heh

duh.. Im just letting you know .. that I honestly feel for you bud..

    take care ;}

  • @Ballin4Jehovah playing the pious/virtuous card to ingratiate your ego is no more than what i would expect from those with a false sense of morallity . again you avoided my original question, giving up your wealth for an imaginary friend.now remove the deflector sheilds and answer the question. you cant and you know this.que further deflection.

  • I found Jesus. He was dead on a cross.

  • @accent77

That's funny! And I prayed to god for him to make me into an atheist, and guess what? He did!

  • @brokenscimitar I feel bad for u guys heh. funny ..not for long

  • "If the believer sets out to determine for themselves whether any of it is believable by taking an objective view at the moral codes in their holy book, or the plausibility of the stories, they will be judged for their lack of faith."

Is this directly taken from the bible or from your interpretation of Christian doctrine?

I can understand how someone can come to this thought but

    What is your source?

    Thank you.

  • @layups ""If the believer sets out to determine for themselves whether any of it is believable by taking an objective view at the moral codes in their holy book, or the plausibility of the stories, they will be judged for their lack of faith."

Is this directly taken from the bible or from your interpretation of Christian doctrine?"

Neither. It's more of a psychological speculation based on the doctrine of faith and the idea that belief is somehow important to the creator of the universe.

  • @eequalsfb- "psychological speculation based on the doctrine of faith..."

So that comment was more a personal assessment/trend of Christian doctrine?

That makes much more sense to me as 'speculation'.

"the idea that belief is somehow important to the creator of the universe."

    Is belief important to creation?

That question is probably separate from the point you are trying to make... but is it?

What is the source of all creation?

All I KNOW is that I KNOW nothing. Thanks again.

  • @eequalsfb Which is very accurate concerning modern mainstream religion but not at all regarding earliest Christianity.

  • @eequalsfb I've had this thought in my head, but could never put it to words! kudos

  • they bury him, and his followers uncover him as he awakens. or as another possibility he put himself into a coma through meditation as it is not impossible.

I say this all as speculation mind you, since it cannot be confirmed or denied it is left as speculation, this by the way is why I take agnostic as a stance specifically and not specifically atheist.

since the question cannot be answered logically and cannot be tested logically then it is best to leave it as a hypothetical.

  • okay I"m going to play devils advocate for a second here, and toy with the possibility of resurrection from a different perspective. how people have determined death has changed over history, at one point it was a heart beat, another point was noticeable breathing, and another was responsiveness.

with that in mind i play a scenario, "Christ" when on the cross goes comatose from shock, onlookers assume hes dead because he is unresponsive and they cant see him breathing,

  • Thank God I'm an Atheist.

  • jesus' life is of course the story of the sun moving in the sky over the course of a year. it dies under the Crux constellation, remains at it's lowest point for 3 days, then starts to rise again, etc. killing the bull, blowing the ram's horn, feeding with fish, following the man bearing a pitcher of water, etc, are also astrological analogies.

  • arguing with "christian" activists is futile; your wisdom is wasted on most of what passes for the "church"; most of them are sincerely wrong as most do not have the "mind of Christ" (as if that is something bestowed on them)and are merely justifying themselves with a literal interpretation; most do not question or investigate it for themselves, rather they accept what they were taught. Truth be told, a true follower of Jesus is commanded to love, period; God will sort out the rest of the story.

  • It's bad luck to be superstition:-)

  • Emotion vs Reason

  • These are things I run into all the time with Christians! It's a breath of fresh air to see that someone else has noticed and decided to point them out. Excellent video :)

  • As always...GREAT VIDEO!

  • lol, the first thing that comes to my mind is army ants battling over bread crumbs.

  • Faith is a positive thing in the regard that small children that eat things their parents tell them not to eat, and go places their parents tell them not to go end up dead.

Christianity latches on this instinct. Of course most people are supposed to grow up but Christianity never wants you to mature in this regard.

Also there is no reason to punish lack of faith, disobedience has it's own punishment, if the advice is true. When the advice is false, well it makes obvious the use of threats.

  • Audio is charged to the left.

  • Religion is control by fear... Religion is a lie... Truth is God... God is your conscience

  • 3:31 Almost popped wood for a second there.

  • Uh Jonah was in a Great Fish, Ibelieve it was a Tuna, duh...

Ya Bill O'Reily used that Old Testement bit a couple of days ago, was rather funny...

  • Is the sound fucked up for anyone else?

  • It's fun dealing with people who don't understand the subject and trying lift themselves up to be the highest thing in the universe. I must assume they argue with everyone about everything, kids, coffee, math, science, medicine, atomic theory, what aliens have for lunch. If they're so much better why haven't been running the planet for centuries?

  • The third defence mechanism is brilliant. 'We cannot know the mind of god'. I have to agree that if there is an entity that is all knowing and all powerful and created the universe, it is certain that no human being could have any inkling of what such an entity might think or feel or like or want or dislike, etc. But the assertion destroys all theistic religions in one sentence.

  • Luther's Great Schism does seem to work as the base clade. Before that, there was alot of HGT going on between the polytheistic and monotheistic religions as enabled by emperor Constantine and before that even a few atheistic religions. The Pythagoreans definitely threw their bit into christianity too.

  • Very good stuff. Going to post link to it on my favourite discussion board, the Secular Cafe. Google is your friend.

  • I've heard every one of those "defense mechanisms" many time by all my religious friends.

  • @wrightlawnv Word

  • Sounds like Ozmoriod

  • @Kamili1950 I was raised catholic for 18 years. I remember learning several times that the reason Moses was not allowed into the promised land after leading 5,000 people around a desert for 4 decades simply because he hit a rock twice with his staff when god said to only hit it once. A bit extreme.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kamili1950 depends on your bible

  • I think it's unfair to say the Bible is a fairy tale. It's much to cruel and sadistic for that!

  • @Jostedalsosten Read the Brother's Grim

  • @mrhnm Does the Brother's Grim endorse slavery? Order millions of men, women and children killed? Endorse human sacrefice? Threaten with infinate punishment? I've read a whole lot of fairytales where some cruel things happen, but none of them are as bad as the Bible.

  • @Jostedalsosten Aren't they the same thing? The bible and fairytales?

  • @mrhnm Novels and fairytales aren't the same thing, but we put both under fiction. Anyway, my original comment was obviously a joke. Still, the Bible is a religious text, so my original comment wasn't wrong either. IMO religious texts are worse than fairytales, but they are fiction nontheless.

  • @Jostedalsosten I'm not certain I follow. A fairytale contain implausible deeds with a story line that demonstrates a more of the culture that wrote it. I don't see a difference, certainly religious texts contain extreme violence. Could it be that a fairy tale is widely accepted as fiction where religious texts are not, is this where you draw the line?

  • @mrhnm Once again, the original comment was a joke. I'm fine with comparing the Bible to a fairytale, but the Bible isn't really a fairytale. It's a religious text.

  • @Jostedalsosten I was simply asking you to clarify the difference between a fairytale and a religious text. The only difference I see is that a religious text is believed to be true while a fairytale is not.

  • @mrhnm A fairytale is meant to be a construct for amusement of others who usually know this, while religious canon is secretly a construct meant to confuse and suppress others.

Alternatively, All are fairytales, but some are more effective at controlling then others. Not easy to control people with the story of the three pigs and the wolf...

  • Comment removed

  • @Kamili1950 My point is that discussing the bible is grounded in a "what if?" scenario. The only evidence for the truth value of a particular canon (koran, bible, etc) or religious text of any kind is "what if it is true" and "what if god exists and this is his teaching". Without a system to verify these "what ifs" further discussion seems useless.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kamili1950 Are you saying that things turned out well for Job and his family? LOL.

  • Comment removed

  • @Kamili1950 MY ignorance? I suggest you read the book of Job again. I've never heard anyone interpret that book in the way that you have. In the end, Yahweh admonishes Job for questioning him, and Job reacts in shame and regret for having ever questioned his god.

Job was NOT rewarded for questioning Yahweh. He was rewarded for cowering in fear and submitting to him.

  • @eequalsfb well if you read job ,then yes things turned out well, lol man your so far out,and no faith in you shame, still your life.lol

  • @eequalsfb I would refer you to the Talmudic and Jungian interpretations of Job. Methinks you are accurately describing how Christian Fundamentalists actually interpret the story--that of God rewarding a sufficient level of grovelling. My own belief is that there are older and more sophisticated ways to interpret the tale.

  • @eequalsfb so according to this yahweh character it is better to cower and blindly submit than understand the reason behind why he is doing something? wow id say id pray for you but i dont think it would do any good

  • @Legalize4twenty10 Instead of praying, why not spend your time reading your holy book from cover to cover and try to think for yourself.
