i wouldnt be suprised if an orchestra could play through a song at first time, i did that when i was new at an instrument when i knew how to make the tones.. it was on a recorder so it was very easy

can't we just enjoy it without making any comparison with other bands or groups? i'm sure serj wouldn't like to be compared to any other band's work, nor would metallica. everyone does his thing. and we, based on our tastes, choose what we like best. just that.

and before Metallica there were some other bands who tried this stuff, mainly the German band Rage: they recorded albums with songs written meant to be played with band & orchestra. Plus they went on tour with the whole orchestra! Check them out!

Not really. Metallica just did their thing with the orchestra kinda filling in parts. This was a complete orchestral rearrangement.

It was amazing too.

I understand what you mean, but I don't fully agree. Master of Puppets turned out to be a clusterfuck, but Nothing Else Matters, Hero of the Day, and definitely No Leaf Clover were INCREDIBLE
