  • I used to be a conductor for BNSF and moved a lot of Scherer trains through the Midwest in Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri. Between Springfield and Thayer, Mo., they run with 2 motors on the head end and 3 pushing on the rear and still barely get over some of the hills. At Thayer they cut off two pushers and send them on northbound trains to be used on the next Scherer load.

  • Thanks, I can imagine how hard it is to climb some of those hills Thanks

  • @pwalpar That's the Ozarks for you. It seemed like the Scherer trains got mostly GE power.

  • Bush cutter, LOL!

  • LOL Thanks for commenting

  • Beautifully taken in brilliant sunshine Walter...great stuff....Bob

  • Nice vid, i like these trains, too bad they arent re routing them through here for a while. Good power as usual, they fly with those things, long as they are, but the dpu helps!

  • Nice video Walter! The shots were well framed. By the way with all the coal you have running through Jackson, did the Gnome get a Christmas stocking full of coal this year? LOL!!!

Being that we are about a month removed from Christmas, I thought I would ask.

Anyways, keep up the good work.

I will probably see similar coal trains on BNSF's Seattle and Fallbridge Subs here in the Pacific Northwest.

    John

  • Is it warm over your way walter? only I could see what looked like heat haze at the start of your film. Nice sounds coming from the tracks, quite hypnotic.. ha ha :-)

  • @Bevoin1970 Yes, I noticed the sound as well. I often see heat haze on Walters' videos even when he claims it's cold - I think, if he came over to our side of the Pond, he might reconsider what "cold" is LOL.
