  • My grandmother wanted to write in after seeing this video, her and my grandfather Rudy Martin loved it, they live in Enid, OK. My grandmother was suprised to see her husband, Rudy Martin (Baby Bear), on the Three Bears, he is alive and well....still playing (sax) for seniors, and very active...golfing at 87 years. Thanks for the video it was a joy and suprise.

  • It was nice to hear this. These guys was really pro players back in late 40's to 50's,specially these great western swing-players.Say my hello to Rudy Martin.

  • I really enjoyed this. I went to BCHS in Las Animas, Co. with Chet Lee Calcote (who was the Mama Bear) in this song. Chet was always very talented and had a huge fan club and many radio & TV regular listeners. Thanks again for sharing.

  • Check out "St Louis Blues." It's an old Texas Playboys' cut

featuring Leon. The solo is sublime! 12 bars of perfection.

Yea, I never knew Leon sang, huh!

  • Does anyone remember The Cozy Inn

    that he recorded?

  • Leon also wrote this song called smooth sailing with some guy named Billington. I can't find it here but I have the 78. Man, it is ahead of its time. sounds like something Led Zep would do.

  • Papa Bear (Keith Coleman) is a great fiddler in Texas Playboys reunion.

keith and jody's fidles are awesome.

  • To CrackerKen1, the song "Take It Away, Leon" has the lyric, "...he's a singin' star", but the song features his guitar and NOT his voice!

  • ha thats my brothers name

  • I never knew Leon was a singer. I'm familiar with his steel guitar playing, and work with Bob Wills though. Well, I learned something new today.

  • This rocks on so many levels.

  • I live in ARKANSAS so I Enjoyed it!!

  • take it away leon

  • Leon wrote "Steel Guitar Rag" an all time classic.

  • wow this is amazing, my grandpa (chet calcote) was the one playing the bass and singing "mama bear", it is hard to think that that is my grandpa!

  • A special thank you for this video . A dear friend of mine Is leon's Daughter she never saw this performance it was really something special for her to watch. Thanks again . Bill

  • I can't tell you how much the "Three Bears" video with Leon McAuliffe means to me! My grandpa was the voice of the Papa Bear (Keith Coleman). I never had the privilege of meeting my grandfather he passed away before he had any grandchildren. It is great to be able to see him doing what he loved, it brings him to life in a sense. Thanks to you my mom and aunt can relive a great part of their life through your video, and now so can I. We can't thank you enough for sharing this video!

  • Keith was one of the BEST fiddlers ever in Western Swing music! Was a privilege to meet his family when he was put in the Texas Western Swing Hall of Fame a few years back.
