oh shut up you have no clue what the freak your talkin about!! "becuase the probaly coudlnt make any money out of her, thats usually what happens" whats with that shit! get a life NOOB
The horse in the vets, they would have sedated it to take it in there, they have to get the dose exact for that horse. it has to be as unbruised as possible to carry on with life, so minimum used.
Many horses react to injections into the vein. a raised head in shock was not a bad one, especially as she relaxed it immediatly down. Its a massive overdose, to seperate their spirit from body. Its a shock. Their body reacts even as they die, but its still peaceful to the horse.
I have four horses, and i decided long ago that when the time came to end their life, that first they would be given a anesthetic prior to being led to the paddock for the euthanasia..I didn't want them aware of my grief or pick up on my feelings leading up to such a sad moment.
I'm angry the poster of this video still continues on their half-witted judgement of euthanasia being cruel. The mare was sedated before the final injection so hence the stiff-legged collapse. If you had a clue you should know due to her being sleepy she naturally would have locked her legs as horses do. You, miss, are a shameful shit stirrer. You are either daft or sly. Eitherway I will not be influenced by you and hope others make their own judgement regarding this too.
some blind horses accustom. others become so terrified they would kill them selves running with fear, not because the owner couldnt make any money out of it. Unfair comparison. also the grey was sedated, she didnt show signs of laying down as she was sedated and sleepy, not struggling wile adrenaline was fighting her injection like the poor paint.
I wouldnt consider either as inhumane, but if it was me id prefer sedation then fatal injection rather than anasthetic
there is no difference between a general anaesthetic and a euthanasia drug apart from the amount needed in order to cause an overdose. a euthansia agent is much higher concenration, so less is needed. it is quick, painless, and very very peaceful.
please research what you post. it is obvious you had a bad experince, or didn't understand the process and it upset you. but posting vids that may upset someone who has lost a friend and worries that they've done something bad to them doesn't help LUV
i have had many, many of my friends and fur-kids eunthanised, and understand the action of the drugs quite well. it is an overdose of anaesthetic that essentially slows the heart so quickly that it stops before they hit the ground. they are literally dead before they fall. it is very peaceful.
a general anaesthetic has three components- hence the need for multiple injections in the first vid. his legs went wobbly and relaxed as the 1st injection is a muscle relaxant so they can control the fall
the grey was being caressed, only one injection and she was in a natural environment at peace. The coloured had multiple injections while being pushed against a bright blue padded cell wall in order for the horse to fall under it self. Your comparison is unfair. To be fair you need to see the technique be used in exactly the same environment. My horse is to be put down next week and this video angered me. Sugars death was beautiful and tranquil. the way i want millie to feel in her last moments.
@LaurenMaherFilms the horse had several injections becuse the dosage was wrong suger had a heart attack !
I have had a horse eutanized I have had a dog euthanazed I have had a cat all euthanazed sugar collapsed the horse under genrel anisthetic fell asleep I do not know how or why it could anger you I'm trying to help these animals what I'm saying is that we should put the animal to sleep before we give them the euthanasia solution so why are you angery i'm JUST being on the safe side ?????
@LaurenMaherFilms sugars death was a case of parilises in my opinion weather or not she was unconciuos though it still is a case of parilises what is wrong with a genral first ?
@lmrequine well miss no it all I have had a horse put down to yes they died from a heart attack weather it was before they fell asleep or after they dies of a heaart attack
safely, and not cause injury to itself. Since that horse was waking up again, injury is something they need to be particularly careful about. That's not to say horses for euthanasia aren't treated as carefully, but falling is acceptable, as any injury sustained in the fall isn't going to bother the dead horse any.
Also, I don't think the other horse was trying to move it's legs beneath itself. To me, it looked like it was just losing strength.
Sorry for many messages. Darned character limit. lol
@CaptainNiobe yes well all i'm saying is there is a chance that the pentobarbotial kicked in before the sodiume thoie pental makeing the horse have a heart attack awake ? there is a chance thank you for being polite too I appreciate it and if you dont agrre with me thats fine you can visit our site for more info if you like
forequarters were held off the ground for a short period of time. A few seconds longer, and she would have collapsed, not fallen.
Also note, Sugar was in a paddock, in an open space.
The other horse was knocked out, as you said, in a different situation. He was sedated, IE, his body slept. That means total relaxation. Did you notice the vet and the assistant pushed the horse against the wall? By the look of it, that was to make sure it collapse, not fell. It could go down slowly and {next post}
"No brain, no pain"? That's exactly what happens, the brain has already ceased functioning, so where the heart attack comes (it is, in basic, a stopped heart), the animal doesn't feel it, because the brain is no longer functioning to process the pain signals.
I think animal euthanasia by lethal overdose is very humane.

@jaysonpaulwells realy well what gives u the knowledge to know that
1 the vets are right
2 euthanasia doe sent cues paralysis ?
3 why are u going off at me when i'm only trying to say there is a risk involved give the animal general anesthetic so the risk is no longer there i do not see how trying to care for animals and make sure there not suffering means my organization is terrible . ?
@Thowsmom i'm not saying the animals that are "suffering " should be kept alive i'm simply saying that there is a risk they may die inhumanly so why not cut that risk out be simply giving them general anesthetic first because that has been proven to knock humans and animals out to sleep for a operation . nobody that has been euthanaized can come back and say yup i went to sleep after ten seconds then i died .
Some anaesthetic drugs can not be given with anything else. This would cause a reaction that could well result in suffering.
Vets need to be 100% clear on exactly what and how much a horse has had, to ensure they are put to sleep without a problem. Generally, most horses are put to sleep with an anaesthetic beforehand anyway.
It seems to be many people think vets are some mass murderers, but we are not.
@feathers666 excuse me yes the killing shot was showed because the owners of sugar clearly stated in writing that she was dead before her head touched the ground the shot in the video was the killing shot!
You assume just because she was not skin and bone that she was healthy. I can assure you that is certainly not the case for many.SHARK have a similar video on their website if you wish to kick up another fuss.
It is ignorant of you to to create such waffle, thinking you know all from a video. Vets have qualifications/Certs/reputations. You?
If you feel so sure that the animals are suffering so terribly why not take it up with vet authorities instead of bemoaning on a simple website?
The same medicine is used on animals for operations and a similar form for people in order to leave them with little or no conciousness. So that then leaves you implying any person or animal having an operation is given an induced heart-attack as I gather? And not simply being given an dose of a sleeping agent, overdosed for animals to be euthanasied?
@feathers666 why not take it to the vets becuse all the vets would lose alott of money if they told people they let there beloved pet suffer when they know all about it
The horse WAS given a general anesthetic before another substance was introduced to stop bodily functions. This is typical of the way most (esp. large)animals are put to sleep. It happened with my dog and I know every moment.
It's up to you if you refuse to understand logic and make up ridiculous accusations. I feel for the owner who put a very personal part of their life on show only to be lambasted by someone who digs relentlessly for things that are not there.
@feathers666 you said The horse WAS given a general anesthetic before another substance was introduced to stop bodily functions. no she wasn't because if she was she would be unconscious. she could have been given a sedative but that does not cues unconscious. it only cues es sleepiness but that is also pluesable because our horse had 5 sedatives and he dident Evan fall over . so this horse definatly did not have a general anesthetic .
she was given a sedative and then killed (inhumanly )
As I stated there were repeated injections given to the coloured pony as they did not seem to know how much was needed to knock him out, this created a much slower and longer knockdown thus resulting in a longer reaction. There are several videos of gelding and the horses collapse in similar ways to the mare that went on to be euthanised.
@feathers666 the mare went down in under 1 minuet and was very stiff note how the gray mares legs where in front of her ? this is how a horse goes down in a heart attack but note the gelding note he has time for his legs to go wobbly ? and then he sort of tucks his legs under when he goes down in a much more relaxed fashion .
I have been right there next to every horse of mine that I have had to put to sleep. They are large animals, and the fall to the ground is very traumatic. But trust me, they are gone before they fall. I've wrapped my arms around them each time, and you literally feel them go. It's a feeling I can't describe. It wraps tight around you like a hug and a thank you, then disappears. It makes your arms ache for a moment, then they feel light. Heaven is better than hurting on Earth.
@live41love maybe haven is better than earth. but thats not the question . the question is should we make them go to haven or the ground. in pain and agony or very peacefully
ok simple case ur you probably think that your horses are in horsey haven and they had a peaceful death and now that i came along and said "your horse has suffered a sever a heart attack o my goodness you cant handle it so your trying to do everything you can to stop me because you cant except it .but thats perfectly understandable because i had been tricked into makeing my pets have a induced heart attack and i thought it was peacfull now i know better and i'm just trying to stop the injustice.
I am also in my 3rd year of vet school, specializing in large animals. So I know what I am talking about, and I have studied it over and over. the first injection is a tranquilizer... it simply makes the horse go to sleep. The second injection, which there should only be 2 injections administered all together, via catheter, is the overdose. I have been riding horses my entire life and I have had to put several of my horses to sleep. NEVER have I done that because I couldn't make money off of them. I had to do it because they were in so much pain that they would eventually suffer an excruciatingly painful, slow, death.

It is shocking to think that euthanasia drugs paralyze the muscles and give the poor animal a heart attack. That is definitely not what I would call a peaceful death. Heart attack pain is indescribably intense according to my father who suffered one. It seems that we are conned into thinking that during euthanasia, the animal dies peacefully, but in reality is it suffering a heart attack and is paralyzed. Why not just give animals an overdose of anesthetic?

Owning a boarding stable for 20 years, we've had to put down 8 horses here. My vet
tranqs the animal and then uses "fatal plus". They are brain dead before they fall or
have an "induced heartattack". In fact the heart continues to beat for up to 2 or 3 mins.
Heart attacks stop beating. You need to educate your self before posting this crap.
Your comment that they couldn't make money on this mare is uncalled for. She was
aged and BLIND. Unfortunately you can see and yet are blind.

Heart attack pain is indescribably intense according to my father who suffered one. It seems that we are conned into thinking that during euthanasia, the animal dies peacefully, but in reality is it suffering a heart attack and is paralyzed. Why not just give animals an overdose of anesthetic?
