  • Though that may be an interesting conversation starter Newt, I don't think the politicians killed my car battery.

  • INTERSATATE MegaTron batteries suck!!

    Thank you.

  • That Porsche has a rear engine...

  • lmao at 0:45 he opend the trunk.

  • If u r prudent about jumpin a car, u will take my advice! Always hook your ground (Negative/Black) first, do this on both batteries. Repeat the process in opposite, removing your "Hot"(Red/Positive) first on both cars, this avoids an accidental spark!! The Positive is always got more live current then its Negative counterpart!! And last but not least, never touch the 2 cables 2 gether while they are live! The spark may look cool, but this can blow a battery or other electrical systems!

  • It sucks when I actually NEED to do this I forget the order to do it all. I should write it on a sticker and post it on the inside of my car's hood :P

  • my horn begins blaring when I connect the grounding cable?

  • Facial Expression when starting the car, best part. Must have been to acting school.

  • i like how he is jump starting the FRONT OF A PORSCHE!!!!

  • or...try to start it with the jumper car still running and give the jumper car a little throttle to boost the power

  • why does my car turn off the moment i disconnect the cables to head to the shop? this is bull shit, some one help

  • @MusicWorthListening2 You need a new alternator which helps charge the battery or your battery is way past do for a replacement.

  • @MusicWorthListening2 Yes what @kickercrv7758 said. You need a new alternator

  • that dude puts so much epic things .... oh bother

  • lol isn't the front of a porsche the trunk?

  • @TwiSTeDBeAnS some cars have the battery in the trunk...my dads girlfriends intrepids battery is under the back seat and to jump start it you have terminals under the hood

  • Thanks! I got my car jumped from my dad's BMW 7 Series at my high school with this video! :D

  • this video does not help..you know what helped me at 12:30 in the am in the middle of chicago miles from home? some indian guy from a gas station. the indians won howcast. s my d.

  • very helpful thanks!

  • i always thought it was positive to positive and negative to negative, didnt know it was negative to ground. Thats how i got my car jumped in the past. Is that bad?

  • @kiravintio I've jumped my car a thousand times and I always + + and - -. My car seems fine.

  • Comment removed

  • I never worry about the order.. It's just dangerous because if it sparks on the terminal and hits the batteries toxic gas.. it's not good..

  • What if I don't have a working car standing by?

Jump start that. (manual transmission, rolling car down a hill etc etc)

  • I've always put black on black n red on red.... and i've never connected the cables in any particular order.... no problems starting for me

  • Wow! I jumped car batteries literally dozens of times without knowing it should be done in any particular order!

  • Fuckin ads

  • This would have helped two weeks ago.

  • Step 1 : buy a new battery one week be4 the accident

  • 24 people couldnt get their cars started

  • Good thing he brought 2 cars! :D

  • Lol a Triple A road side assistance ad came on before this :P

  • top two comments = touche motherfucker.

  • Thank you for taking your precious time posting to help someone out there especially women like me. It's people like you that keeps this world a better place by doing something helpful for anyone who are willing to learn. More power to you. From one grateful independent woman in NH.

  • So you gotta take out both batteries and check if they're any damage on them? I've never seen anyone do that..

  • i tried this and my car started on fire

my cat was in the car

    my cat caught on fire

    my cat is dead

    you owe me a cat

  • @schmidtkid Wow. That sucks man.

  • @schmidtkid schmidt is a rich german family

  • @schmidtkid wow this happened 2 me....spooky

  • Shouldn't you START the live car before trying the dead?

  • @Commando303X a lot of people think that you dont have to and its a lot safer you could set the wires on fire if their connected wrong and you start the car there's no reason to start the car it should work without it

  • @Commando303X No, that's a common mistake.

  • If you are worried about explosions, battery acid, or getting electrocuted while jump starting a car, just do what I did. Get AAA!! Not only will they do all of this for you, they also have diagnostic equipment and will tell you if the real problem is the battery or something else. Why would you even bother with all this potentially dangerous stuff?

  • @buffalowingmediabias bc ur not a pussy

  • lol idont have a car to jump-start

  • Oh and the second or alive car isn't needed for iT

  • U need to make one for a battery. My family has jumper cables but for one car. The reason for this is because it's connected To a big heavy duty battery. What about that??? Well? Make one for that kind of jumper cables, ok???

  • Today was the first time I found that my car battery was nearly all dead. Couldn't even turn my lights on. Nothing. I panicked for a moment, wondering what was wrong with it until "dead battery" came to mind. Luckily, my dad put jumper cables in the trunk. I was stuck in the school parking lot, so I flagged a friend down to help me...I had to ask them to do it, I had no idea how...I feel so dumb V.V

  • this should be "how to steal a car" ==

  • Epic face at 0:17 #LOL

  • Comment removed

  • I thought it mean't from the title where you drop into the car and start it up like a movie xD

  • omg this vid is fukn wierd

  • Or just do as Kip, pour some red wine into the battery

  • if i had a second car that worked, then I wouldn't need to jump start it.

  • this saved my life, but still a cockblock.

  • i feel bad for the idiot who thinks this is how you jump-start a car.

  • @126sean what is wrong about the video?

  • Fuuuuck you toyota. I don't have time for your commercials! i need to jumpstart my car before work.

  • You mean open the trunk if it's a girlie car like the 911.... LOL!

  • @1too3fore lol wut?? since when is a porche 911 a girly car?

  • @YeZhik5 I had one for 10 years and that's my take on it. The only time I enjoyed it was avoiding certain death in an impromptu power slide around a dead man curve cliff-side. Other than that, I'd take my '72 Monte Carlo over the silly 11 any day of the week. The American muscle car kicks the 911's butt - no doubt about it.

  • @1too3fore Dunno what kind of a 911 you had, but the one I test driven, and the one Top Gear reviewed, believe me is much better than some ol' american muscle car.

Plus it lasts longer, more reliable, better milage, and doesn't sound like a jet engine every time you wanna take a trip to a grocery store. But then again, to each his own eh?

  • @YeZhik5 he's probably a 12 year old who recently watched the movie cars

  • Yhumbs up if you watched this even if you don't have a car.

  • it's 27F right now and the weather website sais it's going to be 42 by noon tomorrow. Is it too cold to jump start my car at noon tomorrow?

  • what can i do if I want to jump start my battery tomorrow? I live in Fairfax, VA just wondering if it's too cold to jump start the car

  • So, since both cars are off, what if the dead one drains the assisting car's battery. They're both stuck then. Why not have hte engine running on the assisting car

  • @HerrSchnellmann

If you have to keep turning and turning the dead car`s engine with the starter motor, that means there is something wrong with it other than a wealk or dead battery.

A good battery won`t go dead from boosting a car.

A battery can turn an engine for minutes depending on temperature (cold batteries = less charge, cold engines are harder to turn) , age (batteries "wear out" after some years), or its initial charge (if you left the lights on without the engine on).

  • @HerrSchnellmann

It may damage the voltage regulation circuits.

  • i always start my car before the car that is dead is tryed to be started to give more current especialy if the car that is trying to be started has a bigger engine its important your battery has enough power to turn the extra cylinders over.

  • @therawofrain

Look at the size of the starter motor cables and look at the size of the alternator cables. The starter motor has large cables. The alternator has small cables. Right?

The starter motor uses high current for a few seconds. The alternator supplies small current continuously. Lead acid batteries supplies huge currents.

The alternator does not help the starter motor.

Having the good car on while the bad car tries to start can damage the good cars voltage regulation circuitry.

  • Actually if your car has a computer, don't remove cables straight away wait ten minutes or you put a spike through the computer.

  • I heard that when connecting the cables that you should go in alphabetical order. Meaning you connect the Black - first and then the Red + next. Then take them off in the reverse order.

  • i thought after 'Red - Dead', i thought they would all rhyme :(

  • Since when do you try to jump a dead car with just the battery alone?

  • wow I have never connected the negative to a metal, always battery to battery .. oh boy.

  • Next howcast video: How to get a 6 pack in 1 minute

  • howcast is way better than expert village!

  • Why can't you connect the first black cable to the dead negative battery? ...why does it have to connect to some other metal part?

  • @pricelessangie Because, batteries release hydrogen gas which can ignite if sparked, causing a chemical explosion, shooting lead shrapnel and sulfuric acid all over you. Its better to spark away from the battery.

  • @TDFKI6BNP OMG! sounds deadly. thanks for informing me

  • Lol the Porsche is a rear engine car, you can see in the video that it doesn't even have an engine under the front hood.

  • @whatitistoburn7 battery is in the front you fucking faggot

  • @whatitistoburn7 thats what i was thinking to LMAOOO

  • Tremendous acting

  • i had to jump start my car the other day. I connected the positives and negatives of both car battery. I forgot i had to connect the other negative to the ground of the dead battery car. Still worked though.

  • Umm, am I the only one who noticed that they didn't start the live car in either attempt?

  • Chek out 0:45 , no engine in the front of a porche

  • porsche is a REAR engine car

  • @The50011 yes but batteries often kept in the front. My battery is in my trunk, but the engine is in front.

  • The thing is, that car was a Porsche and they're famous for having the engine at the back which means the battery is also going to be at the back!

    NICE ONE!!!

  • Rad video as I'll be jumping someone's car with my 1998 Jeep Cherokee today.

  • On more than one occasion. Success. Thank you

  • so that's why my car wasnt starting,i had not clamp the last one to ground zero rather i clamped it on the the other negative,hhhhmmmmmm.................

thank god there was no explosion.

  • My friend has an electric car. Can I use his car to jump my regular car?

  • hey in this the running car's engine was turned off, when they tried to jump start the dead car, if i am not mistaken? should the live car have its engine running when jumping or not? please help cheers

  • @o1o1o1o1o1o11

Its better to shut off the good car.

Having the good car on does not help. Alternator power is very small compared to what a starter motor needs. Look at the size of the small wires on the alternator and the large size of the satrter motor & battery cables.

Also if the good car on damage can occur to the volatge regualtion electronics when the bad car is started. It might take time for the damage to show.

  • The engine isnt in the front on a porsche!

  • @olliethc1 but the battery is

  • @wilde4200 Oops my bad im not fortunate enough to own a porsche even a shit one like yours lol!!!

  • @olliethc1 Ahem, the new ones are shit. Air cooled FTW.

  • @olliethc1 the battery is though. dont worry you'd only know that if you had one. =)

  • @olliethc1 erm not all porsches r like that....

  • The guy's face when he finally jumpstarted the porshe hahahaha

  • shit method. Your supposed to turn all of the electrics on to draw power until the car starts, not fuck around connecting and disconnecting jump leads...

  • hahaha im trying to jump start my porsche aswell hahaha

  • LOL he opens the trunk not the hood hahahahahah the engine is in the rear jackass. well i guess this would be for most of us whom do not own a porsche

  • porche 911 nice! btw the engine in a 911 is in the back so it is almost impossiable to to that with that car....

  • can someone answer this.

-i bought a chevy silverado extended cab 05 last Sunday. But now it doesn't start. All I did was wash it, clean the inside, and drove it about 3 times. And got a smog check done. Now it stopped starting. Why is it behaving this way. The guy who sold it to me took care of the truck 100%. He is even about to come to check the truck himself. If you know whats wrong, please tell me.

  • @hss3892 try your alternator...if your alternator is dead it wont keep your battery charged....take it to a mechanic to see if thats the problem for sure.....when you try starting it do you hear a clicking sound?

  • porsches have the engine in the rear.

  • @doggydoo72 Not all of them obviously...

  • haha this was informative and funny!

  • how come you dont connect the negative on the dead car's battery?

  • @AgentOrange04 i believe if you connect the + to + AND the - to - you complete the circuit, creating a short circuit which could cause the batteries to spark and possible explode. here they needed a ground to channel the electricity flow elsewhere

  • Thanks, that worked great!

  • classic Porsche..

  • HEY!!! i thought the battery was in the trunk of the porshe... a dodge charger is in the trunk too!

  • @xdman09x In my porsche the engine IS in the back but the battery in in the hood (trunk) of the car. I dont know why but thats just how it is..

  • That would be funny if his alternator went. lol

  • Jump starting the posche by connecting the clamps to his... trunk! Great!! :-)

  • Added on my birthday, which is tomorrow! BTW, I too live in New Jersey! :D

  • ....isn't a Porsche's engine in the trunk?

  • It has just helped me right now ....

    Greetings from Germany,

    Luisa

  • Respect the order you make and break the connections. I had a battery blow up in my face jumping a car. If it can happen to me it can happen to you. Be aware car computers don't have surge protection. Hooking a running car to a dead car has the risk of frying the dead car's computer. A car's alternator will not fully recharge a battery that has been drained so low it needs a jump. Get your battery charged once the car is running or you may need a jump again and again.

  • I just keep a portable jump starter in the car......Has saved me a lot time (not having to wait on roadside assistance or asking someone else for help). Only thing I have to do is charge the portable starter once a month. IDK a lot of people have said the portable ones are better, because they have less chance of messing up both cars electronics if something goes wrong (most portables even have reverse polarity protection...mine does!). Funny vid, I laughed @ 1:32

  • im in a bmw and the battery is in the trunk.. no ground? do i just connect negative to negative?

  • porsche motors are in back....

  • we did the jumpstart a car and it works....... after 2hours we turn it off and turn it on after 2hours and the car doesnt work again whats the problem?????

  • @bryansantos48 Probably a bad battery or busted alternator

  • youre right my battery is bad i saw a crack on it....

  • @bryansantos48 Yeah, just get a new battery. You can get them cheap at a junkyard...like 20 bucks. Walmart carries them as well

  • i bought t my new battery at kragen its 90 dollars year 2010..do you think buying battery at junkyard cause no probllem at all?

  • @bryansantos48 They usually test the batteries and give you like a 30 day guarantee or something. But, new is fine of course.

  • @zodiiak hey do you have an idea why my cellphone doesnt charge when i connect it through my car .????

  • 0:35 what a fairy

  • alternators are not suppose to charge your battery its just suppose to keep it from draining

  • @pootietang420 thanks for saying that, I was one of those idiots that thought that.

I gave you a thumbs up by the way, lol

  • so you dont have to turn on the working car to actually get the dead one running?

i have never connected it to groung and have connected both black clamps on poles

  • nice porche lol

  • hmm well what if you try both of the methods and it still doesn't work?

  • The "did you know" part. Was that true? i was so sure that it was the exact opposite.

  • a in that porshe the engine is in the back not the front

  • Battery doesn't have to be where the engine is, my BMW engine at the front but battery is at the back so probably same with Porsche just the opposite.

  • here's a question.

so if it works and your car starts, do you leave it on while you remove the cables? or do you turn it off again before you remove the cables.

also, you don't want to leave the working car running while you try to start it? does it matter if it's running or not?

  • why would you turn the working car off

  • im sorry but ur method didnt work for me... so I just decided to hook the black cable to the negative terminal of my empty car battery instead of some metal part.

  • i know a easier method if the car is mechanic or triptonic

    you just need 3 persons

one of theese must be driving and the other two pushing the car

the driver must set the key in ON position and the gearbox in 2nd.

then push the clutch pedal and try to acelerate the car, then suddenly release the clutch (the car must be moving by the other two persons) and the car must try to turn on

repeat thoose steps until the cars engine turns on!!!!!

    sorry for my bad english!!!!!

    SOURCE : EXPERIENCE

  • @ElColombianGuy you mean if the car has manual transmission, it's true it works.

  • yes

    let me ask youi something

    my english is bad???

  • personally I understood your directions, so I guess your English is not bad...

  • thx

  • yes. yes it is.

  • @ElColombianGuy

That's what I always do. Except it's easier when going reverse, especially if you only have 1 helper.

  • @ElColombianGuy Not everyone has a stick though.

  • 3 hours later a tow truck comes because you suck! lol

  • Thanks Dude for the information.

  • Nice thanks a lot man

  • WEAR EYE PROTECTION!

  • doesn't a Porsche have the engine in the back,

  • Yep, you can see the carpet of the front Porshe trunk when he first opens the "hood."

  • Your owners manual details how to jump start a car properly. I suggest you read it before making an instructional video.

  • uhhh okay one the porshe has motor in back two if its stick jus nump start it

  • wow okay if you know something about cars then talk abut if you dont then dont talk. yes you are correct the porsche does have an engine in the back however the porsche also has its battery in the front for better weight distribution and to save space in the back. plus your "two" was that a joke? because you didnt even use words. thumbs down my friend.

  • okay bud yes it was there buddy and my fault i didnt know that i dont wack it to porsche's and i was also pointing out fuck jumping just bump it so dude are you feeling like a badass for leaving a giant ass gay comment because someone did not know something and also i do know things about cars guy so jus sit a your computer and type type type

  • this doesn't work ... such a myth , the best way to solve this problem is to always buy a new car. Surprisingly, it works every time !

  • is 'frozen' as in frozen in winter like if sumthings is physically cold and frozen in a freezer? or 'frozen' as in unable to come to life at all.....? : )

  • but the battery is in the trunk/ front

  • that was really clear and easy to understand thank u

  • omg retard that made this vid uses porsche (which has the engine at the back not front)

  • like a delorean!!!!!!

  • the engine may be in the rear but porche puts the battery in the front. (just to let you know(

  • haha its a bit like that hey

  • why dont you connect the black clamp on the negative part of the battery on the dead car?

  • to ground the curcuit
