Hmm. I was getting ready to defend the driver but the 2nd ERF really was on the wrong side of the road at the lights. first one was nowhere near the guy on the pavement though.
All the second driver with the moffet had to do to alleviate any rear tail swing incident was to defensively straddle both lanes on approach to traffic lights, blocking out the offside headlights of vehicles in lane 1 and the nearside headlights of vehicles in lane 2, he would've got round with no problem without having to go wrong side of lights, going the wrong side of the lights leaves him less space to manoeuvre if a vehicle had over run the stop line at the traffic lights in the new road
Look at the rear of truck 2 it has a moffat fork truck on its back which adds another 4ft to his overhang, judging it had he turned like the 1st truck and car or vehicle passing up his near side would have been hit which could have cause serious injury, i dont know the junction but thats a guess on my part.
crazy truck driver on rong side of the road good job the lights were on red for other traffic, nobody can call this stradling lanes it's cleare that the second truck was this side of the lights in the lane of on coming traffic, I dont agree with what the guy was talking about as Im a trucky myself but when I see mindles driving its this that gives us good truckys a bad name. if that was you in that second artic then you realy need to re-sit your test and soon before you kill sombody.
i drive a hgv. if i were to post on here some of the ridiculous things i see car drivers do on a daily basis, you be reading them for hours. trucking in this country is a thankless task and certainly doesn't get any easier as traffic congestion increases. give trucks room please and try to appreciate the room we need to manouvre. remember, if you cant see my mirrors, i cant see you.
@Kokoots By smaller vehicles- no more trucks blocking the fucking motorway with there stupid antics. The worse ones are when they try to overtake each other- takes about 30 minutes and a greater risk of an accident
@Abu451 There won't be any smaller vehicles. that would mean that you would need more vans on the road, driving operating costs through the roof and charges on environmental taxes. HS2 is years off completion and will not bare the brunt of Britains Logistics network, even when it is completed. (late and overbudget I hasten to add).
@Kokoots OK, for every artic off the road, is 20 journeys by transit van. Are you willing to pay 20 times the cost for your shoping, fuel? That's 20 transit vans blocking your way. Don't forget that's each end of the train journey. 20 stupid car drivers employed to deliver everything, 20x more accidents!
@Abu451 HS2 will be for passenger traffic only and if that was true they will use more trains it would mean intermodal containers which means even more trucks on the road to take it to the final destination shows you dont know much about transport industry
@Abu451 which in turn will expand to compete, frieght traffic is considered 2nd class on the rail its mostly transported over night, HS2 probably wont see a single frieght train, the notion it can all go by rail is false unless you build rail terminals at every single shop store and buisness you are going to need a lorry at some point, the rail only delivers to the region not the destination.
@TridentTrucking this is from a guy who works on the rail, in order to get a high cube container (9ft 6 high) to widnes near manchester from felixstowe main uk port, the train can only go one of two routes down into london and up but only at night which means the train takes 2 days, or via edinbrough which takes 3 days it can go by truck costing less and taking just 5 hours who is the customer going to choose?
lucky that old boy on the other side didnt walk of the pavement cause he would have been looking right not left and dead at that. look at clip properly. driving trucks is not an easy job but with 6 mirrors cyclists and impatient car drivers errors such as this can occur try driving 1 in the west end or city as i do BE PATIENT WITH TRUCKS THEY NEED A LOT MORE ROOM. ALL YOUR GOODS COME BY ROAD AT SOME STAGE
and to finish!.... I'm not saying all LGV driver are brilliant I've seen them do some stupid things but I'm guessing you are not an LGV driver so before you hang us all, try spend a day with one doing city delivery's in say London with a 13.6meter trailer and then make a decision.
Every one is allowed a there opinion just make it with all the facts.
Cont'd... If to stick to the law as you say the truck went the other side but then couldn't continue because his trailer wouldn't go round and he couldn't reverse because it is against the law to reverse into oncoming traffic... I can just see the traffic cop being completely understanding to his plight when the driver has caused a 3 mile tailback.
I got your reply, and still don't agree, without knowing where the other vehicle was coming from and why you can't accuse as for the illegal! the law takes into account all aspects ie the law states an LGV is not allowed to use the 3rd lane on a m,way but if no other option is open and it avoids an accident or similar they are allowed to do so.
You are taught to never take space from the road you are leaving but from the one you are turning on to!! sometimes this is not physically possible.
Oh and just to add, do you A, know the junction B, Have an LGV (with experience) and C, have a clue what you are talking about. If you answer yes to any of these BE ASHAMED!!!!!!
No I'm not watching a different video look at the angle of the second trucks trailer and the fact that the cars are playing along, alongside the vehicles, it's very possible the second truck set of from that side of the road further down or more likely was turning around from that feeder road to the left and couldn't get the required angle to get his trailer around the bollards (quite a common problem when manoeuvring a 55ft long vehicle.
@cavix100 you can try to defend the second truck as much as you want any court in the land would say he was on the wrong side of the road no question about it shocking driving .
@blobby273 there is a technical defence available, if he is under movement order ie transporting over size loads some do not require escort, if the truck is unable to complete the manouvre and is commited to it he and can do so withough damageing property or safty, in the HGV test you are allowed to use all room available to you this does include using the otherside of the road even with this video he could still put up a reasonable defence, im not saying get off with it BTW
@blobby273 as stated repeated for you there are technical defences he can use, and this. Look at the rear of truck 2 it has a moffat fork truck on its back which adds another 4ft to his overhang, judging it had he turned like the 1st truck and car or vehicle passing up his near side would have been hit which could have cause serious injury, i dont know the junction but thats a guess on my part.
Are some commenters watching a different video here!???? The second lorry was approaching the junction on the wrong side of the road ( going the wrong side of a keep left bollard, 100% illegal ) which I assume led to the interviewer getting excited - he probably envisaged it crashing into the side of the trailer of the first lorry, as it would be reasonable to assume the vehicle was out of control being in that position.
@TheMagicBunnyRabbit as above there is technical defences and BTW its not 100% illigal to use the wrong side of the road while conducting manouvers otherwise no one could drive, the HGV test examiers state at the begining of the test use any part of the road that is clear and make sure it is safe to do so, this includes the wrong side of it.
Live not far from this god awful junction, I'm An HGV driver of some 18yrs that was a legit turn and as per usual with the press or anyone holding a camera, why let the facts get in the way of a good bit of sensationalism.
Trucks carry everything... EVERYTHING or effect things they don't. i.e diamonds Trucks carry ore etc... when is this country going to help and support needed institutions and not do them down.
Thats why us truckers get a bad name, with twats like that cameraman getting all excited for no reason. The truck driver did nothing wrong and was miles away from the old guy. Bollocks to the anti lorry brigade, go get a proper job !!
@16racerboy so you didn't see anything wrong with the driving of the second truck wow well that just speaks volumes you sort of blow your own argument .and you drive ? you need to be found and removed from the road before you hurt somone .
@16racerboy Yes, there was no need for the camera man to start flapping, neither him or the guy talking to the camera where ever in any danger on the pavement. Some people just seem to be frightened of lorries because of their size for some reason, he made a mistake passing the lights on the wrong side but no harm done......luckily........
@16racerboy @ 0:23 the cameraman notices that the RED lorry is actually on the wrong side of the road which is what he kicks off about but I do have to agree with you he was a complete drama-queen over it!
@16racerboy I'd think a "get out of the way" at that point is entirely justified - one, because you want to get a clearer shot of the plate and company name (and driver's face?)... two, because if he's capable of that, who knows how much further out of control he may run. Those metal railings would crumple like paper if a marauding artic hit them at full tilt.
there was nothing wrong with that, people need to learn that lorrys HAVE to take corners alot wider than what cars do, the lorry was miles away from that old guy
Hmm. I was getting ready to defend the driver but the 2nd ERF really was on the wrong side of the road at the lights. first one was nowhere near the guy on the pavement though.
