35 seconds into the video you have Peter O'Toole from Lawrence of Arabia. Alec played Prince Feisal in that movie. Alec Rocks!!!! He's an inspiration to anyone who seriously wants to understand why acting is so fun. Dressing up and truly transitioning yourself into the charactor and knowing all your lines well is just one of the rewarding parts.
Enough about "Star wars", people. One of the best roles ever filmed is Sir Alec as Colonel Nicholson in "The bridge on the river Kwai". He was one of the greatest ever.
I don't now how these bloody things keep ending up in my "recommended" box but Jesus I am sick of these so-called tributes in which some ignorant clown gathers up a bunch of poorly scanned photos they don't own to which they add a piece of crap song like this one which they also don't own and which would have made the great Sir Alec want to vomit, pretending all the while they've done it to honor him. Tasteless, maudlin, self-aggrandizing muck.
Olivier was a theatre actor first and formost. Guinness could do both theatre and film with equal brilliance, so in my opinion and everyone is entitled to one Guinness was the better actor.
Papito,... mejor dicho. MAMITA... me dicen que eres un Gallego que se hace pasar por MexicANO.
Eso es verdad?
Tu eres un Gallego peste a pata?
Y peste a culo?
Un hijo ilegitimo de Franco?.. Porque dicen que franco torturaba a las mujeres comunistas y las violaba,. y de esa forma insemino a cientos de putas comunistas, que a su vez parieron miles de putos como tu.
Great tribute. The music is too electric, too contemporary, raucous, tho. I don't know what would be better. Maybe medley of movie themes. He was a powerful, powerful actor. I understand he struggled with depression, was devoutly Roman Catholic. Thanks for the post.
1. at :37 thats peter o toole. guinness played an arab leader in LaOfAr.
2. moviehombre: you cant have too many homages to guinness obi wan goodness. lucas, guinness, jones and ford may as well have made the film with no one else involved.
3 jpfg100: these stills showcase his talent better than fifteen 10 second clips ever could. i think the author has a good eye for photography. youre an obvious product of an mtv culture that will be the downfall of artists like guinness.
Nice tribute. Too many Star Wars clips I think, but otherwise very nice. I especially like the collage of characters at 2:19. Very neat. Thanks for posting!
Sir Alec was quite possible the greatest actor ever to have lives. With no exaggeration at all. Better than Olivier and Brando, even. And he deserved MUCH better music than this!!
@bookishmuch he did not like star wars ;( ;( >;( it made him famous he should have signed on for more like his queens knights replacement who signed on for more of his respective series
p.s. the replacement is sir patrick stewart of star trek who got pretty rich on that series alone whereas alec guiness pulled an orson welles being typecast for not taking advantage of what he had
and only posthumussly getting noticed for his work
What a boring video. Why do people think we want to look at stills, and listen to some dull music, instead of seeing clips with audio, of the performers great roles.

Trying to remember all the tribute videos I've ever seen on various awards shows, or documentaries that are made up of stills. Oh, thats it, there are none, because they rubbish.
Thanks for posting this tribute. Sir Alec Guinness was a remarkable actor. We were fortunate enough to see him as Shylock in Chichester Theatre,UK. mid 80's.
Thanks so much for creating this tribute! My favorite actor. My very favorite Alec Guinness movies are from his Ealing Studio days in the 40's and 50's..The Man in the White Suit, The Lavender Hill Mob and so on. I'm sure you've seen these but it's worth mentioning so others can find copies and see these phenomenal films, too. I especially love Alec Guinness' voice and how he didn't need to move a muscle, you see all his emotions in his eyes. I so enjoyed your tribute. Thanks again!
It's good to see that someone out there has made a tribute recognizing a broad sampling of Guinness' work. I do have one nitpick; early on there is a photo from Lawrence of Arabia, but the photo is of Peter O'Toole. Guinness is nowhere in the shot. I'd also love to see more from Kind Hearts and Coronets and maybe a bit from Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. But I understand how difficult it can be getting images from all these films without doing screen grabs. Good work.
