Back again. I have watched many different versions of this song over the past week or so and I have to say that your version is easily my favourite. This is a beautiful old tune that the Dubliners did a great disservice (imo) by turning it into a shouting contest but you have captured the lost subtlety and the tragedy of the tune. Well done (again).
I thought it would be a traditional song by one of your own countrymen. But it sounded very Irish to me. Sure enough...written by Paddy Tunney (1921 -- 2002) (wikipedia) Great song and so nicely sung Jacques !
very nice again, Jacques! a traditional song, from Ireland no doubt ("Galway"). the only thing that puzzles me is the sugar cane growing high and the tea growing on trees... makes you wonder where the unnown poet actually located these Lowlands of Holland... (at World's End, perhaps?)? the answer is probably lost in the mists of time - and that's one of the things that makes it a traditional! well done, keep on turning them out like this!
Wow! Holland traditional! Dank!(thanx?) for that trip into your sea strugled Nation History!I could feel the Northern Oceans music being express so well...
You should be recorded doing traditional songs. Powerful voice
