  • "i see problems" wow , i hope she gets fucked but never breeds

  • It is obvious, in this case, that the whatever is wrong (anorexia) does not respond to logic. The therapist "proved" logically to the client that in objective reality she was smaller than she perceived herself to be. However, this did not help the client. This is because the therapist needs to appeal to her affect (emotions). The client needs to experience in a FELT way. Gestalt therapy in my opinion is one of the best to access the emotions.

  • @GreekVegetarianRecip continued.

For example, the client draws/paints something and then becomes that something-through her imagination and creates a dialogue with herself and what she draws. Then she can attempt to integrate the conflict.

I hope this therapist works with Gestalt influenced therapies.

  • It's so difficult to watch after facilitating art psychotherapy for anorexics, especially as the girl/lady in the film has a perfectly 'normal' body shape and you can sense the emotion as she writes on the image.

  • That girl is absolutely stunning.

And I'd like to be an art therapist :)

  • i think they need new pens

  • I love Alisa's voice. It's so soothing and relaxing. I would have liked to be her student just to hear her speak!

  • that girl is beautiful and THIN! she shouldnt be killing herself by thinking this way! society makes fools of us by presenting lies =( how do you even define thin? anorexic? no beauty lies in being healthy!

  • Wait, two master's degrees? Can you study for them both at the same time, like a dual masters? Man.... why not just make it a Doctorate.... I am a looonnggg way off I suppose, what is the job outlook anyway?

  • Oh no- not that painting thing!

Are there any therapists who know how to emotionally relate to a patient?

  • She is a trained ART THERAPIST genious! Her job is to communicate somehow with patients who have a hard time verbally communicating themselves! It is actually an entirely different occupation and very helpful in it's own respect!

  • please tell why you thing like that

  • @MissesPapillon - Art therapists/psychotherapists are probably more able to connect with a patients true emotions than any other therapist. Creating art and communicating verbally utilises both left and right sides of the brain, hence greater insight into an individuals thoughts, feelings and emotions.

  • @harry1066tube any type of art therapist (music/art/drama/dance therapy) would do a fine job

  • @MissesPapillon you mean to tell me you'd rather see a therapist trained in Greek and African myth (psychotherapy)? LOLOL. You're an ass.

  • Alisa was a teacher and still is, and I was oen of her students. She is an amazing person, aside from what these people that are bring rude have said. She is a beautiful woman, inside and out. She was the best teacher I had and I wish I could still talk to her to this day.

  • I run a forum for people recovering/suffering from an eating disorder. The site is pro-recovery and aims to offer support and advice.

If you would like the URL send me a message as YouTube won't let me post links :)

  • IS FOOD A SUBSTANCE?????? Please see my videos and visit my channel to see materials from the Rudd Center from Yale. This chain of change can only take shape if you are prepared to explore and expose a great deal of material. Please do not get fooled by simple solutions becauuse this is a very complex issue. I am working on creating a healthy marriage with all foods. This is about BALANCE ,and I have decided to take the risk so as to force this issue to be discussed fully.

  • I think she still has a MySpace, I know that Polly did(RIP Polly), Shelly did but her's isn't up anymore, Brittany did/does...

  • That's Alisa. THIN was filmed in 2004. Her therapy is a success :D, but darlin, this aint no Exorcist knock off. At least, she doesnt sound possessed when I talk to her. :)Well, maybe when she said....haha no. I kid. Her pretty little head doesnt spin, I promise & well, as for projectile pea soup, I seriously doubt it these days. & after the Exorcist, I cant stomach it myself. ::makes face:: I like peas though.

  • haha fuck. Im a dumbass. I failed to read the info box over there ~~~>

You already KNOW that's Miss Alisa there. Heh. My bad.

  • Karen, you've met Alisa?? Oooh..! I thought THIN was so amazing, I hope they're all doing ok... Except poor Polly :(

Been watching this loads so I know what it's like for when I go in :/ peas are groooooooss btw unless they're cooked so perfectly!! ha looove xxx

  • Uberz, I just talked to Alisa on Monday actually. & here's a glitch; Alisa is TALLER than me! then again, who isnt? ha! I had peas wiff dinner. They were good. Perfectly cooked Im guessing. You goin IP? Where? Renfrew, FL? tell tell! :) xxx,

    Karen

  • haha oh nooos someone taller than you?!? AGAIN?! Gaaawd... Na not Renfrew, me lives in England so it's gonna be the Priory, Surrey! Well... Roehampton which is in London but whatever :) xxx

  • at the end, when she draws "help me" on her stomach, there is a scene in the exorcist that has the same thing happening..only it's the possessed girl trying to tell the priest she's trapped inside. this woman either saw the movie, which i think she did, but is also conveying that she is trapped and possessed in her own body, sadly. hope her therapy is a success.

  • i was in that same spot drawing an outline of myself.

  • This is why I want to be an Art Therapist. I had tears in my eyes watching this girl writing "help me". The way her hand loosens at the end. Like she has lost the strength within. It is also good to see people get the help they need and deserve.

    Thanks for posting.

Good luck to everyone who is going through what she is. May you find a caring person and inner strength.

    :)

  • I want to be an art therapist too :) I know you have to have a background in art, and that you need to passed the standerds of the Art hterapy association..they even have a site :), just google. it..BUt I dont know anybody who does art therapy to guide me .. do you know any thing else, like do I have to have a minor in phycology?? thanks for reading it :)

  • You would need a masters degree to be an Art Therapist as well as your license(s). It would be best to major in Art & minor in Psychology or major in Psychology with a minor in Art for your Bachelors degree. Graduate programs look for that background. Good Luck! :)

  • So I guess you recieved your degrees then? Are you working in the profession now? You wanted to a couple years back, just wondering how it has worked out for you. :)

  • My undergrad work was in general studies. You do not need a major or minor in psychology or art. Typically you will need a few psychology classes, including abnormal psych and some studio art, usually 4 or 5 to get into a grad program. Check with the programs in your area, requirements can differ.

You do not have to be artistically gifted.

The license is not something to worry about until after you graduate with your masters.

  • in most states you need an additional masters degree to help for employment. Social Work most common. Psychology second. Better off with a social work masters (MSW) with the art therapy masters

  • Cool vid. I've been thinking about being an Art Therapist.

  • She is absolutly beautiful the way she is! I wish that she and others struggling as she does could see themselves through my eyes.

  • Florida... I suppose that "in recovery" is used as a relative term
