Blizzard does not care what the top 10 guilds of the world say, they care what the 90% of WoW population that struggle through content in a regular paced time, rather than destroying your life for 2 months spending 10 hours a day wiping. gg fat nerds.
The Game sucks simply because it has so many players . put that many Humans in a pot and shke it up and what ya got. a bag of shit thats what. people fuck it up. Rift will be like that also in 5 years time no doubt but right now it makes wow look like a Vtech kids game
I think they should only give the information after you fought a boss. By that I mean that Blizz might wanna think of only putting the stuff in that you've actually seen in the fight, just to give you a good view of what's going on. If you aren't able to reach phase 2, you won't see spells from phase 2. Of course like Gauk3 said, in dungeons and heroic dungeons it doesn't matter, but for raids I think that would be a nice solution ^^
Pull raidboss. Raidboss do something that have some kind of animation and puts spots of fire on the ground. That bossability is now unlocked in your Raid Journal and available to be read. I mean, that info is already available if you click the combat log (or maybe that is an addon that cause the abilities in the combatlog to be clickable and show the tooltips?)
why not just have it like in league of legends when you die it gives you tips on how to stop the other champion, dont give the perfect strat, just give the abilities and tips to not wipe, this way its easier to down bosses, but it is still necessary to make a strat, and their will always be strats that one up blizzards strats anyways.
why not just have the dungeon journal have preliminary info for P1 of each fight and as your guild progresses through a fight it auto updates with info on mechanics your guild has actually seen.
As you said at the start of the video. The Dungeon Journal does not have any information that won't be available a few weeks after the raid hits the PTR anyway. The only thing it changes is that it makes Realm Firsts for the hardcore guilds much more competitive... which isn't a bad thing.
Yeah but they're is a lots of guild that look for world first. If they say "fuck the journal!", It's really unfair because a lots of other guilds will use that journal. What do you think will happen if Paragon lose the world first 25 man heroic Ragnaros by 10 minutes to "For the Horde" guild, because that one was using the journal? Blizzard would promote "for the horde" and say to paragon "too bad you lost it". The truth is that, the journal give advantage to other guilds!
@Frontleiche Wanna bet somewhat recently?;) They didn't do it as progress though. That's the point, because if you can eliminate any disadvantage then you can come up ahead, like they have.
all the jounral dose is tell the spells it dose not change anything all it dose is avoid pointless "learing wipes" as bosses pull cheap kills on u. i am aginst it in hc modes because that some of little fun hc's give.
@dmoore0158 40 hour a week job for world first guilds? I seriously doubt it as far as raiding is concerned. Time does add up but you are exaggerating just how long they spend on the world first kills.
It might be "just a game" but I thoroughly enjoyed hitting 85 on each of my characters and when I finally reached ilvl 346 so I could start looking for a raiding guild. World first guilds put time and effort into the encounters and be proud of the acheev and say "We accomplished this".
As far as a gating system on releasing strats in the Journal, I have an idea Blizzard!
When 4.2 releases don't put in any strategies for 4.2 bosses. When 4.3 hits don't put in any strategies for 4.3 bosses, but include strategies for 4.2. etc
its a nice idea, it doesnt tell u any think u cant find online, its just now in game, so whats the difference??? you can still find out more online so its not telling you any think new
i believe the dungeon journal should just be let out a month after the raid is released so people dont have to check up on sites instead but your right about having the info right away would make the game less then it is.
Lore consistently has some pretty sensible opinions on things. I think Blizzard should hire him as an outside consultant on any changes they want to make to the game, what to incorporate into patches and expansions.
hardore players need to realize that wow is a game of compromise. Things get put in that favor hardcore raiders and other things get put in to please the casuals. There are times in the game where harcores have all the fun and the casuals have to deal with it and vise versa. Stop complaining and accept the fact that not everyone who likes to play and enjoy wow wants to have their life revolve around the game.
i would just love to see some pug of noob's take down a world first because of this. it would be well worth the three years of subs i have paid just to see that !
love the opener with the x box , now you all can s top talking about it . the ptr argument clearly lines out the the fact that what the so called elites are complaining about is b.s. all they ever say is you can't come because you don't know the fights , or your i lvl . so now out of excuses they have to whine. the detailed journals should stay. i don't give a crap about your elitist glory's i pay to play this game like you do . so shut up and suck it up .
Lol i watched videos of groups and heres how it goes. Omg you died on this how can you not know these boss mechanics. know the damn fights blah blah blah. the top 1% will be pissed about dungeon journal and the 99% of us are happy as fuck.
I think that limiting the information in the journal until a couple weeks after world first is the way to go. That way all the super hard core can have the fun challenge of figuring out a boss and the more casual can look at strategies in game rather than in the browser.
isnt playing on the ptr's a spoiler anyways now they crying about how the dungoen journal , its something they have suck up and deal with , the dungoen journal can be fixed to thier liking becuase your in a ptr thats why it exists in the first place i just wish they didnt cry over it and maybe start report bugging like a game tester which they pretty much willing helped with.
I feel like everyone around me is taking crazy pills. The only issue with the dungeon finder was that it had heroic mode fights, but to whine about blizzard ruining the process of discovering new strategies for normal bosses is ridiculous. I don't know if people are being hypocritical, oblivious or just plain stupid...but last time I checked, ALMOST EVERY BOSS IS TESTED ON THE PTR!!!! Every decent raider already has seen video on how to kill every boss on normal before they step into the raid!!!
Even if he summed it up in the end to be 'Put the tact out later down the line' he basically is just saying that he dont want the tacts for himself but if there are there then he's just bad for not looking at them.. There's only one problem, the only ones that loses something on the tacts being posted with release is lore and tankspot because if Months Behinds done it then we all need to look at their tactics anyway so its just cutting him out of the picture.
I'm not sure why the journal would be a bad thing in any way. Why must players find out stuff on their own necessarily? You can opt out from it if you want (why would you) but some people want it to be there.
I learn tactics from a guide video and still spend 2 nights wiping. Journal or TankSpot guide, I could not care less, because thats not where the challenge is for me.
For top guilds? Maybe there is a problem. Does Paragon "enjoy learning" or do they want to DOWN THE BOSS RIGHT NOW
Wow progress shows that out of 55583 guilds that have killed at least one boss in a raid, only roughly 400 guilds have cleared 13/13. There are guides and videos out all over the internet explaining every boss in much greater detail than available in the dungeon journal, and still not even one percent of the raiding community has cleared the content. Information doesn't kill bosses, players do.
@Ultysim damn true. no matter how much you know about a boss, it's another thing to actually go in there and kill a boss. we've worked 2 nights to get heroic Conclave down, with people that've watched guides and read up on forums about it.
I like the idea of the dungeon journal. Just keep it to the dungeons. It would be a great way for new players to actually learn how this game works, by giving them information about a dungeon, even heroic dungeons. Maby let out the part of "pull this mob away from the raid to not wipe".
However, i'd like to NOT have the journal in raids. Raids are the "real" challenge to many players. Yes, many players look up tactics, but someone had to make those.
@Gauk3 Real challenge? Also... Let's say you have joined a new guild, and your guild is progressing. Would the guildmaster ask you to look up the tactics from lets say tankspot or some other site? Yes they would. Do you really think you would have the guts or even the choice to say no?
@Eirekk in the part i said "someone had to make those", i directed it to players actually progressing BEFORE TankSpot and such has vids out. I know this is only a small portion of players, but for those it's important to have that challenge.
@Gauk3 I agree, It won't help raids. Top guilds have it all figured out from PTR before it goes live anyways. Average raiders watch tankspot videos and learn the strategy. Bad raiders will always be bad raiders because they just refuse to pay attention or listen to anyone or anything that is there to help them.
The community that isn't happy with it, is the community that liked paying for the challenge of going into the unknown on a brand new boss, not knowing what just killed you or what the hell happened. It's an epic feeling overcoming a challenge like that. Now the unknown is being spoon-fed to users and it's diluting the challenge and appeal of progression raiding for many alike. Progression raiding is after all, an advanced form of problem solving.
Lore you're always so level headed about this stuff. This is why I love watching your videos, you're totally different than the Doom and Gloom other people speak.
and were not arguing against put this in, quite the opposite we just don't want spoilers in a little book on release keep the loot lists, the boss moves just don't tell us how to kill them, or at least wait to add it just like lore said.
The nerfs to BWD, BOT and TOT4W are simply pathetic, they are going to take place AFTER firelands are released. I think that any nerfs need to take place during either alpha, or beta. Nerfs after the content is released ruins of the prestige of doing that content. E.g. people that got Defenders title while it was difficult won't be recognized because of all the baddies that go back to T11 content during T12.
@chuffsoner its decisions like this that maby be the reason y that 600k players have unsubed it could be other things also but who realy knows i no 1 well known WOW you tuber thats unsubing now *cough* total biscuit *cough*
@DruidCinema Oh please thats a pathetic excuse, it doesn't show when you had 5/6, only 6/6, and the people that do the heavily nerfed raids get the same titles as you. Not everyone on the server is gonna check ur achievement when they see ur title.
Any nerfs to content should take place during alpha/beta or not at all.
We must consider, the majority of players ARENT in world first guilds, therefore, it is very helpful to them. The percentage of players who are in world first guilds is very low. It really only affects them. Blizzard is trying to appeal to the masses which has been their theme throughout this expansion
I want to start by saying I love the Weekly Marmot and watch every week but when Lore says that t12 isnt a a bust is the opposite of what he said on Legendary. He said that his guild is writing it off.
@platinum704 No, Totalbiscuit and Lore are just here for you help. Just like the dungeon journal. If you dont want to use it then dont watch it or read it.
Blizzard finnaly starts making some sense and giving a guide for their dungeons, instead of now having to go to tankspot or wow-wiki or wow-head.Because those sites say the same stuff as the new journal.Make your group stand here pull this kite this and nuke this. How can you be against that, and who gives a damn about world first.
Their should be a achivement for working or going to school 40+ hours a week and still getting stuff done in wow.Pay my bills and ill give you world 1! thumbs up!!
@Misszebie how much of this information is already out there before most guilds even start the content? oh thats right by the time beta is done 90% of the info is already out in one form or another, so by implementing this in the form that it currently is isn't helping anyone its screwing over the top guilds who want to race for world 1st all because some idiots dont want to go read wowhead or watch a beta kill vid. stop being such an ass and realize that this RUINS the game for them.
the dungeon journal is pretty much a wowpedia article on the boss, so they arent really adding anything new. HOWEVER, information on bosses shouldnt be added untila world first kill of said boss
from my experience, whether people know the strategy inside out and have done it a million times before, they will still FAIL repeatedly at executing it properly.... -_-
Only reason top end guilds and the so called elite wow players are mad is because people wont go to their websites no more for strategies. I want dungeon guides because this game is slowly dying anyway and I don't want spend research time on wow no more. More time to play rift and others.
well i dont think that even with killing rotface and lady deathwisper like hunred times i still like kill them and loot ship was fun to tank love the rockets always wanted to jump
Weee I'm now one of the guys saying "lol I quit wow and I'm still watching this ,<3 lore!" R.I.P. wow, please shape up blizz I want to waste my time on your stupid games.
@tharapper why would they give links to Tankspot videos that's a layout of the entire fight, they should just explain the boss' abilities then say what phase they're in and that's it imo
Were still taking about a video game right ? sounds like to many people are making this a federal top secret information breach! Thumbs down for the jerry curls!
but eventually most non really involved groups, play by reading some guides, and base what they do off that, so having a built in guide, makes this game more use friendly, i like easy loot, and i like reading things in game, rather than a browser, so i'm giving this feature a thumbs up!
@godzillaleas the game is dying, because of troll comments like this, if you don't like how the game has evolved you failed to understand gaming. There is little difference between reading in game, and on something like wowhead, or trying things in the PTR. It's a learning style subject.
Strategy in the journal was actually a good idea... it saves us the time going to ad-ridden sites like wow-head etc. I'm thinking the whole discussion got started by the operators of such sites - since they'll be seeing much less traffic, now that everyone can just read the tactics in game.
In reality the Dungeon Journal does not really change anything. "Normal" players did read guides before. Progress Raids new the bosses from PTR tries and their personal contacts with GMs and Devs. As said, what does happen is a) Progress Raids lose 2 houres of wipes while in progress b) Making guides won't be needed anymore (aka, some people lose a bit of money) c) no more excuses from anyone not knowing what is goin on in a boss fight.
No. This is *somewhat* good for the "Normal" players, if you mean those that are Months Behind. (See what I did ther?)
But they don't do PTR testing on heroic bosses. Those 2 hours for one guild may be 2 days for another, thus putting the "2 hour guild" off their advantage.
The guides being made has nothing to do with money.
The excuses part is for the guys that raid casually, they had the guides.. now they have another guide, why would they look at this guide?
You need some reality checks dude. Guide = Pageviews = (Sponsored) Adds = Money. This one is InGame. Most people won't go to guides because they don't like the way they are layed out, etc. .. IF they don't watch guides. "Normal Players" = brought mass paying the foundations of this game :) Frankly, aside from a couple of nerds no one really cares much about "(world) first" anymore.
Most people won't read a book of abilities as they don't want to bother finding a way to counter the abilities. It's easier to see on a video to "run here and do this" instead of "run twenty yards towards the southeast part of the room and do this".
I won't continiue this conversation, as you first have no idea of moneymaking on the internet and where and how it works, and second do not know anything about the majority of the WoW player base. Just a little advise for the future: before you talk/argue about something try to inform yourself about it. In this case, you most likely never where on the PTR and got no idea what the DJ does and did.
If you were to create a guide on YouTube for X boss, you would first need to have an partnership. You don't. Not everyone can get one.
Lets say you get 100 000views. Great.
It's not a sum of money Blizzard cares about as they literally make a million times more than that. Literally. It's not a sum that will get you food on the table for a year. Maybe, MAYBE a month.
I know nothing about the majority of the WoW player base?Teach me o'great

The community that isn't happy with it, is the community that liked paying for the challenge of going into the unknown on a brand new boss, not knowing what just killed you or what the hell happened. It's an epic feeling overcoming a challenge like that. Now the unknown is being spoon-fed to users and it's diluting the challenge and appeal of progression raiding for many alike. Progression raiding is after all, an advanced form of problem solving.

and were not arguing against put this in, quite the opposite we just don't want spoilers in a little book on release keep the loot lists, the boss moves just don't tell us how to kill them, or at least wait to add it just like lore said.

The nerfs to BWD, BOT and TOT4W are simply pathetic, they are going to take place AFTER firelands are released. I think that any nerfs need to take place during either alpha, or beta. Nerfs after the content is released ruins of the prestige of doing that content. E.g. people that got Defenders title while it was difficult won't be recognized because of all the baddies that go back to T11 content during T12.
chuffsoner 9 months ago
@chuffsoner its decisions like this that maby be the reason y that 600k players have unsubed it could be other things also but who realy knows i no 1 well known WOW you tuber thats unsubing now *cough* total biscuit *cough*

@chuffsoner The achievement shows the DATE you got it
DruidCinema 9 months ago

Their should be a achivement for working or going to school 40+ hours a week and still getting stuff done in wow.Pay my bills and ill give you world 1! thumbs up!!
Misszebie 9 months ago
@Misszebie how much of this information is already out there before most guilds even start the content? oh thats right by the time beta is done 90% of the info is already out in one form or another, so by implementing this in the form that it currently is isn't helping anyone its screwing over the top guilds who want to race for world 1st all because some idiots dont want to go read wowhead or watch a beta kill vid. stop being such an ass and realize that this RUINS the game for them.
imwithmoo 9 months ago
the dungeon journal is pretty much a wowpedia article on the boss, so they arent really adding anything new. HOWEVER, information on bosses shouldnt be added untila world first kill of said boss

Only reason top end guilds and the so called elite wow players are mad is because people wont go to their websites no more for strategies. I want dungeon guides because this game is slowly dying anyway and I don't want spend research time on wow no more. More time to play rift and others.

I think they should just have a link to tank spot videos in the dungeon journal so they wont give away to much info and that will help people.

but eventually most non really involved groups, play by reading some guides, and base what they do off that, so having a built in guide, makes this game more use friendly, i like easy loot, and i like reading things in game, rather than a browser, so i'm giving this feature a thumbs up!
JustAnotherHo 9 months ago
@JustAnotherHo this comment is the reason I DO NOT want this feature
Yahwehsninja 9 months ago
@JustAnotherHo I hope you burn in hell. YOU are the exact reason the game is dying. fuck you
godzillaleas 9 months ago
@godzillaleas the game is dying, because of troll comments like this, if you don't like how the game has evolved you failed to understand gaming. There is little difference between reading in game, and on something like wowhead, or trying things in the PTR. It's a learning style subject.
JustAnotherHo 8 months ago
10 Mins!?!?!
Gigglez621 9 months ago
Strategy in the journal was actually a good idea... it saves us the time going to ad-ridden sites like wow-head etc. I'm thinking the whole discussion got started by the operators of such sites - since they'll be seeing much less traffic, now that everyone can just read the tactics in game.

Ph4nToM890 9 months ago
In reality the Dungeon Journal does not really change anything. "Normal" players did read guides before. Progress Raids new the bosses from PTR tries and their personal contacts with GMs and Devs. As said, what does happen is a) Progress Raids lose 2 houres of wipes while in progress b) Making guides won't be needed anymore (aka, some people lose a bit of money) c) no more excuses from anyone not knowing what is goin on in a boss fight.
TheWinterNights 9 months ago
@TheWinterNights
The excuses part is for the guys that raid casually, they had the guides.. now they have another guide, why would they look at this guide?
thats5 9 months ago
@thats5
TheWinterNights 9 months ago
@TheWinterNights
Pageviews on what, their website?
Most people won't read a book of abilities as they don't want to bother finding a way to counter the abilities. It's easier to see on a video to "run here and do this" instead of "run twenty yards towards the southeast part of the room and do this".
You don't get it.
thats5 9 months ago
@thats5
TheWinterNights 9 months ago
@TheWinterNights
I was on the PTR. I know what DJ is.
I know nothing about the majority of the WoW player base?Teach me o'great
thats5 9 months ago
@TheWinterNights
And maybe you haven't figured it out yet, but I'm not against all of the DJ. I think it's great.
But it shouldn't contain heroic-encounter information for at least from the start. It's supposed to be for the "so-called-normal-people".
People that jump into heroics after a week aren't "so-called-normal-people".
And what makes you more knowledgable than me?
thats5 9 months ago
I love the Blizzard response to the guide. "Don't like it? Don't look at it."
