This rendition is a bit of a hodge podge because the introduction is not the one by George & Ira Gershwin for "How long has this been going on", but the introduction to "All the things you are" by Jerome Kern & Oscar Hammerstein II.
its the positioning of the camera. sound travel. ive recorded a friends recital and i had that problem. need like a 150 foot long mic chord straight into the camera( IF I COULD). i was soooo far away
Oddly enough, it's the verse to "All the Things You Are," by Jerome Kern & Oscar Hammerstein II. I don't really understand its being grafted on to this Gershwin chestnut, but she sure does a great job.
This song is completely within Judy's range, she is absolutely on-pitch and there is NOTHING forced about her vibrato. I had the great pleasure of producing Judy, onstage and in the studio, and she is a hard-working and consummate professional, richly deserving of every accolade she's currently receiving. We can all look forward to many decades of having our lives enriched by her lovely presence and extraordinary talent. -James Allen Brewer, A-J Productions
It sure is wonderful to hear a young singer actually sing a song! Beautiful voice and delivery! Glad to see there are some young singers who actually sing a song with such feeling and meaning! Bravo Judy!!!! By the way, this is one of my very fav songs, and did search and poof there she was! Made my day! Hope to see and hear more of Judy Butterfield!
I didn't think we had any talent of this calibur in The United States anymore. Maybe we're getting rid of all the wannabes and getting good artists back. Hooray for Judy, we need more like you.
Wow. She's young, radiant, and gifted with a voice as beautiful as her face. Obviously, she has the intelligence to know what to do with all that talent. But she's so natural and unmannered it's as if she's channelling the music rather than interpreting it.
This is one of the first times I've heard of her name and her performance, but she had a magnificent voice! And she's so natural that it's hard to take my eyes off her.
Bon Jovi also did a good job with this Gerswhin masterpiece.

she's absolutely amazing, especially since this (suposedly) is live. most people are always a wee bit off-key when singing live.

Is it just me, or does Judy seem to be taking her look and image after Deanna Durbin?

Actually, I think she looks more like Jennifer Connely

This is a stunning performance. Natural, radiant and gorgeous. Nice to see a young woman not trying to imitate somebody else. Great dress too.

Yes it is. Why did she do it? Gershwin song has perfectly suitable verse. Hm...
lovemypiano111 2 years ago
It may be because the beginning of the original has a lot to do with storyline, and since this a concert/convention, that would have confusing?
Plus, she seems to sing it very sincerely, while the song is actually a little naughty, so the beginning verse wouldn't have fit her style.

shes soooooooooo frickin talented. omg i got chills. i NEVER get chills. LOL

i have to agree. i think you'd like her voice more, though, if she actually sang in her range. this just seems way too low for her.
and she'd be more on pitch and her vibrato would be less forced if she'd stop pushing and just let the notes come out.

An astute remark. Glad I have subscribed to your videos. Always a pleasure. Thanks.
