Would you be able to scratch tracks off of your computer, say off of iTunes with this? I want a turntable that can do that with normal sized plates, but not at a high price. Technics are out of my range I think
@zlabreche10 The Stantons are a super OEM deck. This turntable is availabe internationally under several incarnations including the DDX5000 from Kam and the RP6000 from Reloop (Which I own a pair of in black and love 'em to bits)). To answer your question regarding spinning you itunes collection, one word=Serato.
In my opinion these stanton str8-150 do have some serious durability issues and YES i do own a pair the tone arm on both of my decks are loose at the top gimble and the 45rpm button playing up already you have to press it hard to use,so right.! id go for Techincs 1200/10 any day of the week and YES i do own a pair for over 20 years not a single problem with them pitch is still spot on faders ect,,Rock Solid Built Like Tanks..!
keep your technic cause soon there will beno more parts for them... and what yous gonna do yes technic will always have that legend factor which i agree too.. but come on people technic where over charging for years... time for the future dont get left behind people lol
I do happen to be a proud owner of my two Technics 1200MkII Turntables, and there will never be another turntable that will be able to replace a legend like it, anywhere.
After seeing these Stanton turntables, though, they do look decently close to the 1200, but it really is a secondary turntable that can hold up the fort when the Technics 1200/1210s are completely gone. (Let's hope so)
i have the technics sl-1210m5g the stanton tone arm are loose on the top of the turntable thats why i have the technics 6 of them mk2 mk5 and the m5g i think panasonic stop making them but i think they will make them again or some one will buy the rights to the product of technics turntable . do buy the technics you will love them and you dont have to worry about a loose tone arm thank you dj joe p
These TT's are loaded with features, pretty cool. My only problem with them is they can have durability issues. If you want a set of decks for your house these are good. If you take your equipment on a lot of gigs I would still recommend technics. They can withstand a lot of abuse. I do like these decks though, they perform well.
I always thought these looked really good and would consider getting them, but after being incredibly disappointed with the build quality of the stanton c.324s (won't read CDs any more, wont eject without shaking them) I don't know if to trust stanton again :/

@shityrunfun Yeah screw you :P It's my first turntabel man haha. The first LP I wanted to play had the hole in it, so it come to me pretty quick haha.

I don't care how you people say Stanton STR8-150 or ST150 are better than the SL-1200's. Technics will forever be the industry standard. I tried these Stanton tables with the S-shaped tonearm, and they were complete CRAP! I returned these decks after 2 days. Who honestly cares if the torque is slightly faster. Ever noticed why Technics never tried to improve their decks with all these so called better turntables? That's cause they don't need to waste their time! Technics #1 since the 1970s!! ...
@TheReIntegration Being someone that's a liceinced tech for Technics,Ican tell you first hand that you are WRONG. Panasonic is not putting any more money into turntable technology, period. Half of the board parts are discontinued.Including the master EPROM Technics chip Stanton 150/super OEM is actually a better value for the money and you can buy the whole turntable in parts including the master EPROM chip and no repairman required. If you'd let me setup your stanton 150s,you won't FANBOY bitch
@willpowa7 LOL. Oh boy...Listen little man I've been spinning on Technics since before you knew what a turntable was homie. Don't come here talking all this circuit board crap with me. I've been servicing these baby' since the early 80's. I don't need you telling me whats discontinued internally with these decks. Funny thing too you mention the value of these turntables...Being a so called Technics licensed tech...oh BTW you spelled "Licensed" WRONG!!! HAHA!!!
@kpkopo Technics are way overpriced due to the hype that they were to be discontinued, which is inaccurate. I spoke to Technics directly and the only models that were being phased out were the 1200M3D and MK5; everything else stays. I own both a pair of 1200's and also three earlier STR8-80 decks, and those continue to prove themselves repeatedly (owned 5 yrs so far). I plan to get the 150's instead the 1200M5G's. No need to spend so much bank on tables. Just get these and you're all set. ;)
@kpkopo this turntable is more expensive then 2 technics. also stantons for selling for $150 are belt driven turntables with worse torque then your grandmas ancient rotel in her basement
the stanton is a better deck than the 1210 .. don't get me wrong love technics, i've owned 3 of them but the stanton just excells .. i bought a str8-150 about five years a ago as a third deck it's just awsome they come with a scratch wieght but there's absolutly no need it never skips .. i rate this deck 10 out of 10 ..
@xxignxx1 its spelled straight, and straight tone arms are made for scratching specifically, they will take even the most rough ways of beat juggling, the curved tone arms are made for mixing. but when it comes down to it, the curved will work just as good as the straight in 99% of cases
@A1partydjs......hey nice video i just wanted to ask you if you know where i can get one of those replaceable target lights from for the stanton can't seem to find any. Been looking everywhere but can't find any help me out buddy because you seem to be very informative about things like that so please help me? thanks!
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about. Technics are JAPANESE you probably don't even know theyre made by Panasonic. Stanton Magnetics on the other hand is based in FLORIDA. And the 1200s today are the same as they were in 1978. Stanton Str8-150s are far more advanced. By the way hows your bedroom DJ career going?
thats what i just said moron.made in japan > made in china (stanton 150).by the way good luck playing out at a club on stantons , i've only ever seen good old technics at a club.if you want to play out you should just buy technics.
thats like saying you can't use "your" mixer but the club standard mixer... oh wait, there is no club standard mixers. btw you didn't make sense above to what the other guy was conveying to your post.
when you finally get to play out you will experience the greatness that is the technics 1210 (i can guarantee there will be no stantons at the club where you play).technics m5g = pinnacle of turntable design , all improvements with no gimmick features like reverse playback.
Perhaps the dim 800 is as close as you can get for a mixer as a standard-- I myself is waiting for a right price to come about. But I don't see mixers as commonly I do tt's being the standard. You see that in DMC world champions. All dj's are use to hopping on different mixers. and as far as the Stanton above. The gimmicks are not there. It's just a more modern, better technics designed tt.
not to take away from your stomping response DMB. but im a bedroom DJ that owns the str8-150s haha. yea it does sorta suk tho that the decks are prolly besting the 1200's yet it seems to be all about the brand this generation.
@BassGoesBoom1 the Technics patent has been copied.Instead of being a fan boy just try it-I am a certified Tech for Technics Canada and can tell you first hand the Stanton 150 is good-I wrote how to adjust the stanton arms on Skratchlounge a while ago.
FYI even the old Panasonic Matsushita website (Technics)says that the Stanton 150 is a good table-FACT
The 1200 motor secret/arm has been copied when the patent was public domain.
hey whats the difference between Stanton ST-150 Digital Turntable with S Tone Arm & Stanton STR8-150 Digital Turntable i dint seem to quiet understand .
just google stanton loose tonearm. You will then read for yourself the widespread misery caused by the poor tonearm on this deck. Its a shame as the rest of the deck is great!
No its not about tightening one lil screw! The screw you refer to is the top gimble bearing screw. This should be set correctly in the factory using computerised tolerance .You can mess with it all you want, the fact is you will be putting extra stress on the bearing. Very poor QC
"computer tolerance" my balls! Lots of djs have done it,why can't you? If you are skratching who cares anyway it damages vinyl anyway? AS a Panasonic tech I can tell you first hand that Technics sells more replacement tonearms than you have hair on your head-It is not worth it for them to adjust them-just sell the replacement arm-so big deal.
ohhhhhh!!! haha I have to agree to willpowa there, its only as hard as you wanna make it, I mean we're living in the age of computers and the internet for gods sake--talk about unlimited resource. might need alittle common sense tho.
fucken stupid people hating, technics are been around for a long time statons are coming up people just fear that there will be a better tunrtable then the technics
Do you have any problems with a hum using the Phono insteead of the line? I bought a TTX USB Numark and it had a hum on my receiver when connect to Phono. Apparently some of these tables are gounded internaly without the ground wire.
Thanks for your help. I ended up switching over to line and using the tape input instead. I wish I could use Phono, but internal grounding is a bad thing on the Numark. Nuwmark, should have designed the unit with a ground switch (including the wire) with the phono/line switch. Then this would not have been an issue. The Stanton is also a great turntable. I love the demo and the backgound tune.
ok john, i just spotted you had this video, should i go for a pair of these? are they reliable for a mobile dj? i use serato so am wanting a pair of TT rather than CDJs but Techs are just way overpriced, especially for +/- 8% pitch control, wtf?!
have you reviewed the numark x9, i was gonna treat myself to one to go with the stantons?
I'm not doubting the technics for a second.. but i think the stantons could be a contender for another all-time great turntable. Time will of course tell..
The underhung straight arm is only an advantage if you are planning to backcue your records. During normal forward play there is much more distortion due to the increased tracking error. With an S arm, when you back cue the record, the offset angle reverses the arm vector force, and when combined with the anti skating, this doubles the outward force of the stylus resulting in skipping.
With a straight arm you should always use only a spherical stylus.
This is using Super OEM Turntable Platform ________________________________________ Here are some models that use this design.... •Stanton ST/STR8-150 •American Audio HTD 4.5 •Citronic PD-45/45mk2 •Synq XTRM1 •Akiyama Acura DJ-4000 •Reloop RP6000MK5 •Ominitronic DD5250 •Kam DDX5000 •BST PRO-PR4.5 •Koolsound TDJ-04
hey man, nice vid , cool decks i got these :) cost me £750 for the pair, you got them recently ? i saw a site where u got free flight case but i dint as ive had them about 14 month now, they are awesome decks ;) peace man , wilko
well they look pretty and small, the way u talk about it must work good to so if i had the money i will try them just one question why does it have 78 hahahaha
I have 2 Stanton C.314 Cdjs, on which 2 of the buttons are starting to fail, 2 on each. I also have 2 Stanton T.60 Turntables, their ok, a little weak with torque, Ive only seen these new stantons, but the Customer service for stanton us unfortunitely really bad...
STR8 = "Straight" its SMS slang for the range of turntables the 150 being the top. Also phono output is the basic raw electromagnetic output from the cart. Its just a straight through weak signal whereby no effects and features can really be applied without first boosting the signal through a pre-amp, hence the reason for line level outputs.
I had faith in the stanton TT range as all my mates said how good they were. but a week after I got them one of them started to speed up without any input from me, it just kept on going, sent it to the local dealer 700k's, got it back 3 months later with a new pitch control, another week passed and the same problem occured, Must have been just a one off. I got discouraged and got Numark TTX and no problems since.
yea they look pretty good but Stanton quality is not very good unfortunitely, especially their customer service when something happens to youre equipment...but its something to consider
your new Decks looks very good and they have a good Motor in it. I hope, they will last very long. And you have a Cameragirl?lol.Get your wife into mixing. We want to see her on the Decks (that will save you money, when you buy new Gear, cause she uses it too, hehe).
i was looking for a review to choose a turntable and none on you tube and this morning in my suscriptions there it was. lol
I will probably buy the T50 for 100 bucks cause im starting off the turntabelism. Dj angelos videos gave me inspiration. Specially the baby scratch. for the gigs its a cool effect to play on your records.
With TT's its good to start nice and low and work your way up to good kit which suits your needs, but the T.50 is belt driven, it would be very hard to learn to scratch with them due to there slow start time and low torque design, good deck to start on if you were mixing though. I'd save a little more and get T.60 direct drive or Numark TT1650 if you were goin to learn to scratch. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.
practise and enjoy,, you stole that from dj tutorial

ohhhhhh!!! haha I have to agree to willpowa there, its only as hard as you wanna make it, I mean we're living in the age of computers and the internet for gods sake--talk about unlimited resource. might need alittle common sense tho.

Do you have any problems with a hum using the Phono insteead of the line? I bought a TTX USB Numark and it had a hum on my receiver when connect to Phono. Apparently some of these tables are gounded internaly without the ground wire.
recordplayer45rpm 2 years ago
yes these r grounded internaly.
on urs check for Loose cartridge or headshell connections. and maybe Shorted input source RCA cables.
A1partydjs 2 years ago

DJBoz07 2 years ago
they are pretty awesome decks eh my bro has a pair and i've mixed on them they are just as good as a techy for half the price!

Stick with the Technics, you will thank me later
esham2001 3 years ago
Why would we thank you later.. what do you know that we don't? Stantons are fkn quality
bal20 3 years ago
cmon, you know these wont be around in a few years. The 1200s are legendary man.
esham2001 3 years ago
I'm not doubting the technics for a second.. but i think the stantons could be a contender for another all-time great turntable. Time will of course tell..
bal20 3 years ago
im choosing between this turntable and the techniques 12MG5. anyone!! please tell me which one is better? I'm dying to know!!

i have a pair of these but the keylock doesnt work properly how do i get the best out of it? and wat do you use the digital output for?

The underhung straight arm is only an advantage if you are planning to backcue your records. During normal forward play there is much more distortion due to the increased tracking error. With an S arm, when you back cue the record, the offset angle reverses the arm vector force, and when combined with the anti skating, this doubles the outward force of the stylus resulting in skipping.
With a straight arm you should always use only a spherical stylus.
Of course, most DJs do backcue.
gotham61 3 years ago
alternativly u can just adjust the needles screws n out it on a angle so it tracks better,

can you scrath on these?

They look like a nice piece of kit. Deffinately look like they would compare with the technics. Good to see some competition at the top end of town.
I will have to check them out.

Yep, john is 100% right. Did all the research on the technics and these, and these were the better product, for a significantly cheaper price.
Gr33nyG 3 years ago
haha, awesome!
We were just talking bout this one the other day and you've already gone and bought it :D
Will definitely be picking one of these up over christmas, same quality as the technics, but for $300AU less.

DudasMiska 3 years ago
STR8 = "Straight" its SMS slang for the range of turntables the 150 being the top. Also phono output is the basic raw electromagnetic output from the cart. Its just a straight through weak signal whereby no effects and features can really be applied without first boosting the signal through a pre-amp, hence the reason for line level outputs.
dayzel87 3 years ago
I had faith in the stanton TT range as all my mates said how good they were. but a week after I got them one of them started to speed up without any input from me, it just kept on going, sent it to the local dealer 700k's, got it back 3 months later with a new pitch control, another week passed and the same problem occured, Must have been just a one off. I got discouraged and got Numark TTX and no problems since.
dayzel87 3 years ago
Nice turntables
rushentertainment 3 years ago
yea they look pretty good but Stanton quality is not very good unfortunitely, especially their customer service when something happens to youre equipment...but its something to consider
DudasMiska 3 years ago
Good Video,
your new Decks looks very good and they have a good Motor in it. I hope, they will last very long. And you have a Cameragirl?lol.Get your wife into mixing. We want to see her on the Decks (that will save you money, when you buy new Gear, cause she uses it too, hehe).
Seccor 3 years ago
nice vid m8 iv had a go on these tables and i must say there very good and a solid unit possibly one of the best turntables around.
djadsellman 3 years ago
I see you've found a camerman! Good review =]
Roxen111 3 years ago
i was looking for a review to choose a turntable and none on you tube and this morning in my suscriptions there it was. lol
I will probably buy the T50 for 100 bucks cause im starting off the turntabelism. Dj angelos videos gave me inspiration. Specially the baby scratch. for the gigs its a cool effect to play on your records.
dugry18 3 years ago
With TT's its good to start nice and low and work your way up to good kit which suits your needs, but the T.50 is belt driven, it would be very hard to learn to scratch with them due to there slow start time and low torque design, good deck to start on if you were mixing though. I'd save a little more and get T.60 direct drive or Numark TT1650 if you were goin to learn to scratch. Just my 2 cents, hope this helps.
dayzel87 3 years ago
that is 1 nice looking turntable!
