Creating games? I thought Maya was used just for modeling and animation. Does he mean creating the 3D enviroments and models for games or can you program with it?

is it possible to learn maya without actually going to an animation school? say just thru training cds and if yes what are some good maya tutorial softwares and where could I purchase them. thanks. I wanna learn to copy a human face, make them move, make a realistic background...all in all make a scene and make a short film. But i quite don't have time to go to an animation school so if i could learn and actually do that at home that would more awesome. and cause i just wanna do it for fun:)

i think maya is good at rigging things, getting to model more detailed stuffs. While 3ds max is good for creating environments. But recently there's a shift to Pixologic's Zbrush

sometimes you cant 'undo' if you have 'Caps lock' on...make sure its off

you can download the program called MakeHuman. its a program that you can make a human with by choosing their features and then importing it to maya, 3ds max, blender, lightwave and all those good programs
